Jef is a great guy. He knows so much, invested in the culture and is collector friendly! He is a business man, but keeps the collectors wallet in mind! Very rare and unique store. Always visit when going to Amsterdam. Cool that you guys documented this, I think he loves this!
i have been following your videos from South Africa..(think i found you through a random Pixel Dan video).. and i love all the Attic Invaders! i am not a collector, but i am of that 'vintage' toy age...haha.. Ed, you seem like such a genuine beautiful human.. and this is also another great journey into corners.. all the best to you guys
No jokes thanks for these videos and keep them coming. They are always great to look forward to after a crappy day at work. Always cheers me up especially love the commradery between the three of yall.
I remember I went to A Space Oddity in September 2019 and it was an absolutely great store! It looks even better now! I’ve been to Amsterdam 13 times and I also want to visit the Toy Boys
ED, did you spend considerable time living in either Canada or the U.S. during your youth? The reason I ask is your accent is very smooth and flat - essentially Americanized, without any hint of goofy-sounding inflection that could have been learned from a *British* English teacher. Am I correct in assuming that English is not your first language?
@@EdsRetroGeekOut Yes, that's what I thought. Even though you didn't reside in Canada "full time" over several years, you still developed an exceptional command of English (with North American accentuation). During your vacations, you must have really immersed yourself in the local culture and absorbed many of the influences around you. I'm impressed! Do you still visit your Aunt? I, too, am Canadian; I happen to live in Toronto.
This man has a beautiful store... and a wonderful story of how he started in the toy business... Mad love and respect to him... I hope he stays in business until the end of time ❤
Have lovely memories of visiting space oddity back in 2011! Those boxes with random unsorted parts are just pure gold! Great video, love to see Matti having so much fun. Completely understand Jef's point on having boxes only for display. Boxed stuff is a nightmare to come by for shops like ours these days.
Hey Ed! I'm looking forward to watching this video. Have you heard of ultraforce? I've been watching the cartoon, but unfortunately unable to buy the figures. My best to you and keep collecting! 🤘🙏👍🕹🎮🤓
Hey Ed. I'd definitely watch that video. I know a little about the comic books from Malibu comics which partnered with IMAGE comics to help them launch in the early 90s. Take care and may you have a great day.
It's always a lot of fun to watch you. Toys are not my collecting area, but your videos are pure entertainment. That's how I feel when I find something for my Philips video game "Videopac" from the 80s. I can understand that. Keep up the good work and have fun collecting.
@@EdsRetroGeekOut Yes, I got it for Christmas in the early 80's and never sold any of it and am still collecting now at 54 years old. In America it's called Odyssey2 and in Brazil it's called Odyssey. In Europe, it was also distributed by Radiola, Schneider and Siera. In addition, in France there was the identical Jopac system from Brandt and Continental Edison SABA. A small video game that is an extensive collection area, which I have recently started showing here. When I look at my collection, it's like a time machine back to the beautiful simple time.
great store. I used to come here very often when I worked nearby. Now I always go there when I'm in Amsterdam. so glad that these types of stores still exist in Amsterdam at a time when there are only the same standard stores everywhere.
That was an awesome shop!! I've only been to Amsterdam once for only a day, definitely not enough time to see much, but I'd love to visit there again someday, it's a beautiful place
I may have to check ebay for one of those community papers , it reminds me of the classic UK staple of the ARGOS catalogue, circling what i wanted for Xmas in the 80s 😊
Ed, you mentioning the Secret Wars line reminded me of something I saw in a local thrift shop. There was some kind of Secret wars branded activity set-I'd never seen it before, but the packaging was also really yellowed. I'll have to take another peak at the shop the next chance I get!
I happened to be in game over recently and it's really not what it used to be. had 6 gameboy color and advance games in box. These were not special games (Aladdin Tarzan ect) and asked what they would give for them. after 10 minutes one of those guests said €5 or €6 credit. what scammers.
Another cool ep! Great shop! And DK Country is one of my all time favorites game franchises! I still listen to Aquatic Ambience(water level music) all the time!
Awesome video!!!!! Some amazing peices and brilliant shop! When the Leicester vintage toys crew Joe..Gav and Matt went there on toy shop on tour it looked amazing aswel. A space oddity cool. 🤩🤩🤩🤩😉👍👍👍👍👍
We played with the great garloo at my grandma's house for years. Those horrible noises take me back. He always sounded like he was on the verge of squeeling mechanical failure, but that toy was a stone.
First time viewer. What a great shop and nice owner. You got a free bandai turtles catalog. When I Saw the outside of this Dutch toy shop and the area.... Reminded me of _Timothy Dalton movie_ *hawks* when Dalton goes to the Netherlands Whilst being terminally ill. Happy new year/ 2024 everyone.
Here for that vintage Forearm Xmen figure when you first go in. It's the one carded Toy Biz fig I have in my basement. Love the ridiculousness and the $ per arm is unreal!
Jef is a great guy, been there a lot of times! Game Over? Is where a buddy of mine works! The store in Haarlem is also a great place to search for toys!!! Great video like always!!
Hi Ed! I'm glad you're back. I truly enjoyed the Toy Hunting Adventure, at Space Oddity in Amsterdam. Absolutely Epic and Mind Blowing. There were all kinds of Vintage Toys and many more. Definitely a Hands Down. Great Excellent Video Friend! Thanks for Sharing! 🤩🤩🤩👍👍
Good to see there is stuff to find here in the Netherlands. Sometimes it seems like there is almost an infinite flow of vintage toys in the USA compared to here. What do you think?
Fantastic episode. The dude was so humble and his story is amazing. He was giving a history lesson throughout and you could just see how much he loves his job.
