In this episode of Painting Masters I review works by Sergey Temerev, an incredibly talented watercolor painter, who specializes in painting intense skies and seas.
This is a great example of an artist pushing the medium to its fullest potential (wet-on-wet, dry brush movement and flow), and I personally gained so much inspiration from his work.
You can find a FULL painting process of his here 😍

And you can also check out his RU-vid channel and Facebook page here:

Love love love Sergey Temperev's work. Absolutely god sent. I had not seen that last painting before. So incredibly beautiful. One of the things for me about that painting is the 3D effect he achieves with it, to the point when I initially seen it I thought that is an oil painting. He achieves this with the paintings where he does big bulbous clouds, but in this painting it feels like it's magnified due to the use of colour and light. Just love it. ❤

My grandpa was from Russia, in America he took his love of painting into earning a living from sign painting. He painted a round nstill life of flowers that my sister kept, that has been in my minds heart for 61 years since he passed. I wish he lived longer. In all my art I find Russian artists way above the natural world.

I love how you analyse and talk about the strengths of the artists, you have such an insight that is sadly missed by many ( in my humble opinion), you're doing a great job. I am experimenting with watercolour so will certainly have a go at skies and will research Sergey Temerev . You're a star!

Yes they are truly amazing. Thank you. One tip I tried for yellow/ blue sunset scenes - WN Naples Yellow and French Ultramarine do not create green when they come in close proximity. I tried it and it worked. Not sure if it is the same for other brands. Hope this is helpful.

I THINK ANYONE CAN LEARN TO PAINT AT A VERY GOOD LEVEL.... BUT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO NATURALLY EXCEL AT THEM AND CAN REACH A HIGHER LEVEL. EVEN IF TWO PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PAINTING TIME SPENT .... SOME PEOPLE HAVE A NATURAL GIFT TOWARDS THEM.

A top cloud master, his technique is based on stretching colors or dry technique - single-layer, dry brush, but he is already at the end of his career like Zbukvich, in my opinion cityscapes are convincingly the most difficult to paint, especially if the English style is done in several layers. and more water, and certainly in this is by far the best D. Djukaric master of detail and atmosphere as' since he brought watercolor to the highest degree and is younger than Temerevo, Zbukvich 20 and a fraction of a year and taking his progress in a very short time. .. simply put, live his watercolors look timeless, who understands a little about watercolor, his technique is absolutely unique, he is more bored with those biennials, competitions, etc., the only drawback is that his paintings are very, very expensive, but to be worse sales he is doing great.Huawei company chose what will adorn their main meeting room between Zbukvich, Alvar, Temerevo, Djukaric and Thomas Shaller and chose 10 Djukaric paintings. They are all great masters and hats off and the only one left is. Chen but his paintings have no poetics agreed with me or it is not known who I am the father of this medium. Your paintings are not bad either👍, I often compare them with my child's watercolors and sometimes I argue with my wife whose they are better😉

How many layers do think he applies to get those cloud effects? I find real easy to overwork scenes like this.

Honestly I think it's just one layer (: Lot's of charging wet-in-wet. Check out the link to his other video in the description to see him rendering clouds - it's pretty amazing!

Paint for hours and hours 😛 And I would actually practice clouds specifically! It’s a great subject to work on - especially for developing the ability to see things as abstract shapes (:

@@LironYan Hi, Liron, I still count to learn and see how other artists are doing, untill I find the way I can appropriate and become good in. However, I keep on mind that most of all big artists had a good teacher, and then, working, some became bether than their teachers. Without learning I can search all my life without find THE good technic... So I continue working but do not let down the researsh of a good teacher... I have been painting all my life like a hoby, without searching any technics etc. But I was working with oil colors and did not run after any goal... Now, I am working with watercolor, and in a plus, I have a challenge : skies, clouds, water... Have a good chance! If I find something as a technic good to make, I'll tell you... Have a nice day! Bye!

Liiron, your right, Sergey Temerev is a merical worker with watercolors.Where is he from? does he have any books out? T hanks for sharing him with u s peeons! I found out you can get that soft effect by using Illustration board, and lightly wetting it, then Preplaned" drop your colors in, but the paper is unforgiving as far as correcting any mistakes, "it buckels I

I’ve never been satisfied with the slapdash “wet the paper, throw down the blue, tissue out some clouds and your good” attitude about skies. I tracked down a couple of videos where he demonstrates, I don’t quite understand how he gets such a long time to work, my paper would dry out instantly, and when he sprays, it’s hard to see what he’s doing. It’s interesting how he uses painting the negative space as a big part of getting these separate clouds with bright borders.

I gave same comment earlier, you talk too much... you repeat the same thing over and over again to make the video long (probably for youtube reasons)... please don't say for me personally a lot, I think you have the required talent to analyze paintings and share good ideas etc. Don't make it about yourself, and make it more about the subject with confidence.
