Hello fam, I found the kontomire/ cocoyam leaves in an Asian supermarket. It was labelled "Tarro leaves" but it looks more like cocoyam leaves and tasted like it. I think it is one of the items they stock as and when they receive it because I went back tgis weekend and couldn't find it.

kwankyewaa,i think that when u immerse your plantain in water before peeling, it prevents your hand from getting stained with the juice from the plantain peel.

I was taught in the same way of soaking the plantains in water I asked grandma why should I put water on it before peeling it She told me some plantains contains sand so it helps to wash away the sand on the plantain💯💯

My mom told me that, we wash the plantains before peeling because,we don't normally wash it again after peeling like we do to cassava and yam and the rest. So you prewash to remove the dirt.

You put the plantain in water before peeling because there's a gel in side that discolour your hands and sticks to your hands that's why you have to put it in water
