Congress needs to open a Congressional investigation about FBI asset forfeiture and pass legislation to stop these undemocratic processes. There is broad support to limit asset forfeiture.
Well they know this but they don’t want to. Why would they? It’s a “legal” scheme to pillage and pilfer Americans of their hard earned money. While “legal” it doesn’t make it lawful or right it’s still legal. That alone should make you want to know what’s the difference between “legal” and “lawful”?
Congress can pass laws without SCOTUS' permission. SCOTUS' is compromised with money from people just like Bezos. You may want to pay attention to what's been happening with several Justices and their absolute corruption.
@debbiepeirce7509 - Going to those imposing and supporting injustice to find justice will never happen was his point. She is fortunate she has big coverage of her story, there are countless of people like me who don't. The intro vid to my content should help understand.
Wow!! Just wow! Came after Amy’s father not just her. And her losing second job is just shock. Then again seems typical from what I‘ve learned. I’ve never heard of their story before. What a brave and amazing lady! Intelligent and strong! I am almost afraid to comment because the govt and big tech do scare me tremendously with their power! I feel they are watching me just because of my husbands mistakes. But maybe Amy is right, being public is safer than staying hidden in the dark. I really have to rely on God to help fight the evil within people that go after other people in the justice system. Keep up the fight! 🙏🏻
It makes me wonder about the lawyers and law enforcement officers in our government(s) who don't have the integrity to stand up to the Amazons of the world and just say to them: there is a rule of law and we won't violate it!
Amy, I don’t know if you’ll ever read this and I struggle to comment as it’s not something I normally do. I woke up this morning with my life feeling as if it weighed a ton. Just spent, really feeling at a loss. I am a mother to a beautiful and very complex young man who was born with a multitude of disabilities. I am his 24/7 caregiver. Also my husband suffered a massive stroke 2+years ago. I am his 24/7 caregiver. Goes without saying I can get really run down at times. This wasn’t the life either myself or my husband planned on. This morning is one of those times I felt myself empty and at a loss for hope. But I want more for my family. I want to be afraid and to do it anyways. Whatever that means for the day. And sometimes, often times I feel very alone. However I am not. Thank you for sharing your life. It means something to someone you’ll never know or speak to. If only for today I do feel inspired and truly grateful. And where I come from that’s worth it’s weight in gold. I wish you and your family healing. God speed. Xoxo
Happy Mother's Day! I was thinking of others who are in caregiving situations today. (In the midst of feeling sorry for myself) I can also relate to the legal insanity that Amy Nelson is enduring. Thank you, both, for posting. It really helped me, today, too.
Dear JuanaMichelle, it's a year since you wrote this post. I hope you've been able to find some wonder in this last year. Your life as a caregiver of two loved ones sounds difficult in the extreme. It's heartening to hear you describe your son as a complex and beautiful person. So many people do not yet realize that people with disabilities are just people. All the best to you today and every day.
WE are the resistance. The resilient and compassionate. The forces of nature are at work and will not be denied. ❤❤❤ Be strong and believe. We got this!❤❤❤
A real time David and Goliath story…the only crime here is how both the feds and Amazon handled this situation through bullying and intimidation tactics. Seems to me, all funds confiscated, AND the out of pocket lawyer fees of this family should be restituted. This is truly a dark episode which exposes the underbelly of a system skewed heavily toward corporations with power resources and influence. If I were Amazon I would make the final charge go away rather than arbitrate it…the negative exposure to their inhumane practices behind the curtain will tarnish their carefully crafted brand promise. Also, I hope the family civilly sues…which Amazon will probably settle with them out of court… Amazon ruined this families reputation, which translates into difficulty getting future contracts
This kind of story is exactly why the founding fathers instructed us to have organized malicious ready willing and able to protect people from the government whenever necessary. "Oh you want to collude with the FBI and mess with our bank accounts? Well, the militia is going to turn the tables on all of you son of a b***hes!" Militia police were how corrupt governments were held accountable and we lost that in modern times
Big corporations don't even notice any backlash from ethical customers because there are too few to matter. Amazon destroyed a 1000 year old industry. One of the most important in history, the industry of history. Nobody stopped them. The U.S. was born of corruption. 1776 wasn't a tax rebellion, it was a well financed secret society takeover of the greatest asset in the British Empire. Now their cult of greed and deceit rules the world.
No matter how long I've been teaching and researching such issues, it never fails that my anxiety levels spike when seeing/discussing specific examples of abusive exercise of power. Same time, it's not at all surprising, sadly. Really happy the Nelson's fought it and are seemingly prevailing, despite the awful destruction that has already occurred. The fed's conviction rate that's north of 95% is largely because they amass so much evidence that the guilty cave. The innocent also often cave because accusations alone can break people's will, ntm most don't have the resources or knowledge and/or wherewithal to fight the machine (as WCA suggested, this is true for many affluent as well). Regardless, when the feds come knocking it can be ruinous even if it doesn't end with a conviction. I don't take issue with saying there are a lot of good people at the FBI/DOJ and/or at Amazon, since yes as Amy said, it is specific people leading the charge. But individual FBI/DOJ agents cannot willy nilly get warrants or seize bank accounts on their own without those up the food chain signing off. Likewise w/Amazon, which you have to believe is being signed off by folks at the highest levels of the company. So in both instances, it's entirely appropriate imo to "indict" the organizations and without qualification.
My heart goes out to the Nelsons. I hope that they get public vindication soon, and bigger than that, I hope their story helps to make changes in the system.
And thank you for making me aware of this wanton abuse of power by AMZ/DOJ. I tossed her family… well attorney … some cash. My son did swim lessons at the same pool in her photo (the Ymca on Fauntleroy in west Seattle) .To think this could happen to one of the families in our swim class brings home how real this threat is. I don’t ever intend to work for Bezos, and need to make a stronger effort to stop shopping Amazon too.
Amy, God bless you and your family! Living through a trial like this is beyond comprehension. The dignity and character you displayed were awe inspiring. Stay strong and know there are people out there who are praying for you.
A friend was working at the AMZ legal dept when this all planned/went down. AMZ attorneys who orchestrated this will be divinely judged for ruining these people's lives.
I recently came across hear TikTok on RU-vid. I have to say her story spent chills down my spine. She is married to a good man! I have to tell you, my advice to most people if the FBI comes knocking on your door. You should roll over and sing like a freaking canary! Because they will bankrupt you, they will put you in jail forever! They will hound your family and friends too. For the rest of your life. I have a friend who got mixed up in some bookkeeping skimming. I still don't know what the whole story is, but she's going to be doing 3 years in jail. Apparently her part in it was $65,000 she's going to pay back $35,000 of it. She's indigent. I doubt that person will ever see a dime. But do you know what it costs the government to prosecute her and her main accomplice? Had to be well over half a million dollars by the time they flew her back and forth. She had a public defender. They dragged their names through the media. I had to ask myself why was she she's such a huge target?? This gentleman had some connections but it was literally $298,000 probably all in all that was misused. They spent half a million on a trial. When they should have just let her plead it out. Meanwhile I have so many "foot massage parlors" that are operating in cash a lot of that money's going straight into the hands of organized crime. The girls are helping against their will. Yet the FBI & local sheriff's office doesn't care!!! That's what angers me!
Now I have to go look for updates!!! Kudos to this family for fighting for right!! Amy, thank you for finding the strength to calmly speaking about this and shedding light on the situation. The lengths that the big guys will go to, as well as what can happen to most people in the legal process (not Madoff, Bezos or…). Also a very good example of a strong family! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You never heard of civil forfeiture? Good. Now you know it intimately. AND EVERY PERSON IN THIS COUNTRY SHOULD KNOW. Look into Institute of Justice’s work on this.
Such an important interview! This tormented family kept coming up in YT feed. Just glad I watched it here. I know you'll keep us updated on this travesty by Amz and the dee oh jay.
This is where we are all headed under this oligarchical system. Amazon, Blac Rock, etc… have no limits to their power. Also, why do we always have to caveat that there are so many great people in the FBI/DOJ? Are there really that many, or are the good people in the extreme minority.
Also consider the millions upon millions of dollars Amazon receives from taxpayers in the form of tax abatements and other giveaways by governments. The amount likely totals in billions of dollars.
And I thought I had troubles. people are just the scariest thing what they’ll do to other people with no conscience no ethics it’s just scary. I know there’s a lot of good people out there. Please keep on being good.
I’m not surprised at this. Greed has no morals. The totality of how easy it is to drag someone, who without a doubt innocent of any criminal activity, into the court system should be an eye opener to every American.
Citizens United is at the root of this. As soon as corporations were treated like individuals donating to political campaigns, corporations began to own the government and can use government agencies for their own use. The definition of fascism; definitely not a democracy/constitutional republic. Then the corpirations give kick-backs in the form of lucrative private sector jobs with those companies.
The first thing that comes to mind here is that there is a deeper player behind this deal and that this was about more than Amazon just wanting to be out of a real estate contract. Almost like the targeting of this poor family was a distraction.
I'm guessing but I wonder if Amazon is trying to say the knowledge gained from Amazon by the husband generated this controversy. Tangling with Amazon and the feds is daunting.
Civil Forfeiture is unconstitutional therefore illegal. Why is it not being fought as that in court? That’s an attack on your person and property without being found guilty of a crime.
So now fairness matters to Justin Paperny ? When he was interviewed about Trump's former cabinet members' unlawful political prosecutions, fairness never came up. This is no different.
She makes a good point, in another AOL interview, that bezos did all this to people he knows, that worked for him. He knew them, and was happy to act against them with great malice. Bezos has no humanity at all. It might be the bezos AI. That could cover the coldness. But then where is Jeff?
This video was frustrating. The tik tok video started with 2 uses of "they", and while who "they" is is/was clear to the author, I spent minutes trying to play catch up. Amazon's business partner is opaque to me. Given the nature of their business, I was left wondering what exact role the developer played, with Amazon, (and why they wanted to exit, whatever it was) especially with Amazon's partner. I was playing catch up the whole time. We would have all benefited (me anyway) with some comprehensive backstory.
Thank you for watching. The comprehensive video would take weeks, months. Our goal here was to provide an overview of how a large corporation can overreach, and how this family is responding to adversity. As you likely know, my company prepares defendants traversing the criminal justice system. When in investigation begins many defendants struggle to respond. This is one example of how a family is responding and I find it inspirational.
@@WhiteCollarAdviceOfficialI think a brief summary of the situation would have kept my interest. I’m aware of another situation with an AI company whose life was turned upside down.
The government can't even hint about restricting 1st Amendment rights. The government violated the first Amendment by threatening to gag the tiktok videos.
Amazon in Vancouver BC…it’s 95% East Indian. They don’t want to be Canadian, they don’t speak English, they bring their politics here and treat Canadians as lesser. It’s awful." I won't use Amazon, ever.
That contract sounds sus and this whole case sounds like something out of the 19th century debtors prison system. So, the only exit on it was for criminal conduct? Why any of the parties would agree to something like that is mind boggling. This is is why you gotta ask for things like force majeure and optionality because Amazon employees would definitely read that and say, "Oh, we need a felony? That can be arranged."
I am actually a victim of age discrimination. Employers see your experience and know approximately how old you are. Keep this in mind as you age. Experience is useful until it isn't.
Yeah I thought it was just me or the music was part of the video. Content creators are getting totally carried away these days with loud and unnecessary crap music that appeals to few people.
Due to RU-vid’s multiple tyrannical threats of cancellation, false allegations of violating TOS and numerous times in the RU-vid “no comments” gulag, I am not at LIBERTY to FREELY EXPRESS my OPINION regarding this video. Shalom to all.
