Cheaper than the bulb for some of the projectors, I remember one at a computer centre … don't move it while it's on, don't switch it off at the mains, as the fan has to run after turn off to cool the bulb
On this one, the fan does run for a second or two after power off just to remove residual heat. But it doesn't get warm in use. Nothing like the old furnace projectors.
I think you mean 480p. The supported resolution is 1080p meaning that it will take 1080p footage and downscale it to 480p. The native resolution is the output. But great 👍🏻 review. Thumbs up.
I'm not talking small im offering constructive criticism. 1 all of these units have fans. 2 they are all fairly loud. 3 nobody uses the built in speakers unless its an emergency. 4 all are dull & only work with lights off. So those are things that you should know when dealing with any projectors.
@@mikesunboxing your 1000% right. Have you seen how to make a holographic projector? There's 3 ways that are fairly easy. I don't know why projectors haven't started there
Thanks for this. I just bought one, hoping to watch a movie from my iPad on a bigger screen for an odd film night. It tells me the connection needs to be improved. Help, how do I do this?
Great review Mike. Really appreciate it. You got good value. Just ordered the 4000 one, probably a later vision. Sound seems to be better - less noise. £100 on Amazon. Saw the price and thought I'd try it out, why not. Anyway, great review so thanks.
When it comes to reviews like ,Amazon, Trustpilot etc,i take with a pinch of salt, its just so easy to manipulate for the sell, best to get people like Mike to tell it how it is,or if a friend has bought one.Thank you Mike.
Thanks for this review it's the closest one to the Elephas projector I just purchased, which is the 3800 lumens version of this. I'm very new to using a projector and was wondering if I could access my photos from my Kindle through this. My Kindle has a USB for the charger, would this send images to the projector if the cable with USB was plugged into the projector USB slot or is this cable used strictly just for charging my Kindle? If you know of another way to connect these if this won't work, please let me know. Thanks
I'm not good with technical stuff, I don't know what OTG is, but a lot of my photos are on my Kindle. I just didn't want to damage my kindle, loose my photos or damage the projector by plugging them together to try projecting my photo library. I think I'll play it safe and not go there. Thanks for replying Mike
Some obvious downsides the biggest being the noise...but still, if you're on a budget for the price it's amazing...so value for money it seems excellent... Remember that People leaving a 5 star review aren't giving that rating because it's the best quality you can get, but because it's excellent quality in relation to the cost...
Is there anyway of getting a discount like this at the moment? I am just looking for something cheap for the kids for Halloween and this seems the best fit. Just don't want to be paying silly money for something that will only be used a few times. Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you
The only problem: AFTER 90 DAYS...many black points in the image (dust inside the LCD - only inside cleaning will solve!!!) Do not try to clean by yourself, it breaks the flat cable. So, if you do not mind to watch with many, many black points after 90 days, or to pay 30 pounds every 90 days to clean....it's a very good projector.
@@mikesunboxingthe cooler jets 'dust' from the air to LCD INSIDE. and there is no way to clean...just trying to open the projector. But it's so delicate (especially flat cable). Any way, it's sad but true. Dust in the LCD (tiny black points)
I have been looking at projectors and there seems to be a bunch of them under different names that all have the same exact layout, size, controls and I/o with only minor cosmetic differences. I suspect the all have the exact same internals.
@@mikesunboxing thank you, also how was the keystone on it, I'm planning to use rear projection and mount it on the ceiling so you won't see the lamp through the screen
Thank you for the Shout Out Mike :D Didn't have to do that Considering its native resolution this is actually really decent fair play. Would have been nice to have had all the ports on the 1 side, even if they put the port on the bottom of the side the other ports was on. That's the 1st I've seen that trailer and TBH i'd quite happily sit there and watch a movie on that, but the audio would need another solution like a sound bar or surround sound as it didn't sound to good to me. I might just grab one myself if it's still available and get a screen at a later date. I can't just paint a wall, every wall in my house needs to be re done 1 way or another lol Thanks for the video
Side note that I just thought off... 5 star reviews... Yeah there might be a reason for that and you pulled it out of the box at the start of the video. Just a thought
I can see the fan being that loud, as I have a 2K lumens LED flashlight (or "Torch"), and it gets hot, so 3.6K, I can see it. I'm surprised they don't have an off-set display, so you can have it on the table, and the bottom of the display will be inches above it. Centered display is so 20th century. One negative I saw was the fact there's white plastic IN the optics, which puts a ton of stray light onto the image.
wow you know your stuff, and you are completely right the colour of the projector can and does influence the image quality, although in this instance it isn't overly noticeable
@@mikesunboxing It doesn't seem much, but if you want absolute contrast ratios of the highest degree, white plastic inside the optics isn't a good idea. (My 3K lumens office PJ has some weird plastic in the display, refracting light to cause a ring to appear around the main 4:3 image, similar to your instance, not noticeable unless it's pitch dark, and barely when it is.)
Charles Barnett Thanks for the feedback! Please consider sharing the video and information on your social media, it really helps to get the message out there.
Why would you expect this to be silent? Just because it is LED based you still have a LED lamp which is 65W or possibly higher (sorry too lazy to look up the specs) plus the LCD and other electronics generating heat all in a cramped enclosure (badly designed due to budget constraints) with one or two fans to move the air to keep things cool (one will usually be a centrifugal or blower fan which aren't exactly quiet). If you want the LED lamp to die prematurely or the plastic lenses to deform then yes, you could have a quieter projector. Maybe you could have fanless/passively cooled but not at this price point, maybe a design similar to mini itx computer cases which utilise heat pipes and aluminium finned heatsinks forming a large part of the outer casing? Alternatively, buy a more expensive projector or build a hush box. PS unless it is made really cheaply and the fan is not thermostatically controlled by a temperature sensor/probe?🤔😉
I may have missed it so apologies if I have. But is there a way you’re able to zoom in or out so that you’re not limited to having to put the projector in an exact spot I.e the middle of my front room which is an eyesore
Alright mate ! Great review ! Was just wondering which cable do you need to connect your iPhone to it , im struggling to connect it and don’t know which one to buy If you could shed any light on this would be greatly appreciated thanks mate
Hi, thanks for the video- I'm looking at the 4500 lumen model of this projector - do you think it would be good enough to project video above a band at a nightclub? (doesn't have to be perfect quality, but decent enough to see what's happening) Thanks!
I just reviewed the more expensive but brighter jimtab M18 which is a 4500 lumens and that works okay in brighter light as you can maybe make out it the video. So that would give you a better idea of the brightness
Hi mike have u reviewed the elephas native 1080p phone projector 2022 model yet on eBay for £81 I believe it’s the BL108 model if you can believe the description 8500L looks good.
So I ended up picking the elephas bL108 up £67 on Amazon. Picture Looks great on the wall when I just did a quick test simple function. fan not to noisy speakers seem pretty good for a projector says it’s 1080p native as far as I can tell picture is good. For £67 I’m not complaining lol. Will put screen up and test properly tonight.
Hi, i have Acer c250i which also unfortunately is extremely loud and annoying. Fan completely ruins the movie watching experience. One question, are you sure this really is 3000 lumens? Because Acer c250i has only 300 lumens and image brightness is pretty much the same.
manufacturers always claim specs but i don't have the ability to qualify the brightness im sorry to say, all i can do is show the results on my wall and hopefully that provides a little guidance?
good review mike but i have a question about this model's remote controller. there is no up and down buttons for the volume. only one combo button that has speaker and mute icons on it so how can the volume be controlled on this one if you can remember please? you can play and pause the video at 4:12 to see the remote. someone has the same remote controller design for another model and says its such a struggle to control the volume of the projector.
The fan, is it quieter on the eco setting? (Also, the hight adjustment screw is the same size as a tripod screw, so if we remove it, we can use a tripod, supposedly.)
Hi Mike, great video! Thinking of purchasing this and putting it on a shelf above my bed to project onto the facing wall - I am not very technical but if the projector was placed at a high level and the lens needed to be projected at a slight downward angle is this possible? I know this is something to do with the keystone adjustment but not sure, thank you.
Great idea! should be able to do that, and if you use Amazon you can try it and send it back if it doesn't work out for you. And maybe use our affiliate link to it if you want to help the channel - no pressure but i do have a wife and kids to feed :-)
Do you know where I could order a replacement remote (USA)? I bought it from someone else and they didn’t have the remote for it. Right now it’s super loud and there’s no way for me to turn the volume down. I bought a wireless remote with a USB receiver and it won’t connect. I also don’t know who to contact about it.
Mike, is the newer model 3800 l see for sale on ebay the same ? it looks exactly the same. its priced at £40 now. l basically just want to use it for projecting a large image on to canvas in order for me to get correct scale for my artwork. thanks
cheers Mike,... blimey!! that was a fast reply. just subscribed and liked to you here. Thanks, you have great honest reviews here. l did my BTEC in Electronic Engineering in early 80's. Keep up the honest reviews, mate.
Trying to connect an ACER tablet to this device to display full screen of content from tablet (similar to how you showed display of amazon from your device) How do I do this? Do I need a specific cable? Thanks :)
How to put the tv cable to the machine? I have to buy another cable tv? What tipe cable? How is call I haven't got computer I have phone no router connection and try to do it on my Galaxy 3 and said it have to be compatible wicht I mac or apple so only interested to wacht tv on the wall at night so what cable should I buy?
I own one of these things, albeit mine is black. Same hardware. To the best of my memory, I did give it a five star review on Amazon and still would a year later now. Best $80 I've ever spent. But that's not important. What IS important is mine didn't come with any special offers or gift promises or anything like that. What I put on Amazon was my own belief after using it. That's all. And a year into it now, it's been great. A whole wall in my bedroom is setup with a projector screen and speakers behind the screen for theater-like sound and it's just wonderful. Five starts hell yes. I'm into it for under a hundred bucks US and I've got a nearly 200-inch screen. Every time I walk in and that thing is on, it's like I'm in some future movie where they have giant wall TVs. Except it's my house and it's real. Oh sure it's not the best picture. But it was cheap as hell and it's way better than good enough.
Hey man, quick question, what type of HDMI cable should I buy, since I have a Huawei smartphone, I want to connect it directly to the projector. Thanks a lot
Hi could you please give me some advice on connecting it to iPhone or iPad. I have a lead connected in the USB and then plugged into my devices and it still just won’t connect at all in so confused
My speaker will not turn on when I have either a HDMI connect or headphones connection. Is there something to fix this issue? I have visual just not audio. Thanks for any help
hmm that is weird, what other sources are showing? It might be the cable is not sending a signal try checking if there is a good firm connection on both ends of the HDMI cable
Hello Mike, I bought a hdmi to lightening cable to connect my phone but it’s not coming up on my phone as device a to screen mirror? Not quite sure what to do!
I bought this model a month ago, and now the screen goes white but still have the sound. When this happens I cannot access menu, so have to turn it off, leave for a minute or two and then turn it on again. I do have another one the same model which I don’t have the issue so I am wondering if it’s just a faulty unit ? Any ideas what it could be ?
I have just purchased this exact model, I have plugged in a firestick and I cant get any sound to work at all? Could you please help, any advice to get sound through the projector would be much appreciated? Thanks!
Just set mine up and it worked straight away. I have tried a few options to try and get it to not work and it all works fine. Is the sound muted or anything?
That’s why you can’t trust reviews on Amazon even if they didn’t like it they might give it a five star review just to get the goodies think about that box not saying this is a bad projector but that is called review manipulation
Sorry I don't have any recommendations in that price range. I guess Amazon 5 star reviews are a good starting point and if they are not as good as expected you can always return items very easily.
Good question. It seems to not get too hot and the fan will step up to keep things cool. They have a thermal cut out also so it won't be a problem in a normal room
3600 lumens is a lie on the site it’s probably 360 lumens. If it was 3600 you’d be able to see it clearly in the lights. There are videos here on youtube giving examples. If you want to watch outdoors in the day even with small light- no chance. These companies get away with it on Amazon by claiming a typo if challenged. If you only want to watch in the dark though on the cheap it’s a great choice.
yeah the whole ansi or lumens thing is not really a good marker of quality or brightness, that is why i try and use the same setup with each one that we review to see the actual differences between models
@@mikesunboxing Thanks for your reply, is there any budget projectors you know of that can be used for general home use, in low level daylight? We have our blinds shut most of the time so we don't get massive amounts of light and generally have the light on in daytime, will the light from the projector give enough light to see comfortably?
@@WMCElland just keep an eye on either amazon lightning deals or the deals section in our discord or the shopsmart facebook group, we often post there first when sellers confirm that deals are live
I really hate the noice that it is making😭 does someone know a mini projector that makes less noice? I know they cant be silent but this one is very loud
