I originally did the invite request, but after a few months, I'm struggling to find much utility for the $1K asking price. Its a great novelty, to be sure, but other than the security aspects, there's not much meat on the bone. However, if you figure its worth the entertanment value, enjoy! Maybe version 2 or 3 will do it for me. Who knows?
He's a pretty slow robot. Makes you realize how far we still have to go in technology to replace an actual human presence. There's no replacing a human.
Well yeah it’s literally brand new and only available for invitations, give it 5 years like everything it will lower price once it’s out of the early phase.
Def is worth the price. Alot of work was put into it. Like what if you were working for idk a month and you only get payed a week. Surely you wouldn't like that and robots take alot to make so it works.
I just got my invi approval today Feb. 7th 2023 after waiting after its intro to grab him in 2022... Be patient Amazon is working on it I believe to send those who wanted first to get him!! Everyone else will pay almost $1500 after experiment is over!! If you qualify you get Astro for a down payment of $130 and then after that a payment plan of $41 and some change.. Plan is like 24 months to finish payment.. But you can pay more if you'd like as you go..

@@mariaf324 yea I find it weird they decided to send the invite after the price went up. I’ll pass I’ve read alota reviews and I’m just going to wait for the next one that comes out. This one has so many glitches and issues alota reviewers are going to wait it out.
You realise that the same same technology can be used to find and rescue people from under the rubble of say a collapsed building right? Should we stop innovating because there's a possibility advanced technologies like this could be used to cause harm? I think this question has been answered many times.
So awesome...I am looking for ways to get one of these awesome robots too...would be perfect for a family with autistic individuals like in our family....but we're in the Netherlands 😭😭😭
Mine is coming this Saturday! I randomly went on the Amazon product page and saw I apparently had an invite even though I had no notification or email about it. Good thing I checked.
@@WilliamMcCord Mine is honestly going back… It’s for the most part just an Alexa on wheels. It does have security features which I primarily bought it for, but it doesn’t work well. There’s so many bugs with it still, but I guess that comes with the territory of a “day one” limited release product.
@@AllTheBestVideos they have said that the video is processed locally but if you don't believe them thats other thing. I just don't get this whole "no privacy" thing because what do you think they do with your data even if it is sent to their servers? Target you with laser missiles? Watch you shirtless on your couch sit through 6 seasons of random tv shows? Do you have personal enemies at amazon who work on astro/alexa services? Do you have enemies that can hack or pay others to hack amazon services for your "personal data"? What are you scared of? The most they will use your data will be to better their services that YOU use and the fact that your data will be so compressed and stored among some other data of billion of other users in some distributed databases all over the world, i just don't get the fear arround it maybe because i have never had to deal with "my data" being misused against me, have you?
