like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ru-vid.comUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

Got three of these to go with my wife's Alexa. I'm very pleased with the purchase. I am endeavoring to train the AI algorithms to recognize when they are becoming intrusive, and stop. If they don't, I'm gonna have my pit bull take out her boredom on them. I'll post the pictures or video on the web with our review.

regarding music from the 3rd gen dot . i have tried 3 dots so far . the only music that i was able to play was from streaming radio like iheartradio ,acuuradio and xm radio . pandora and free amazom music would only play 2 songs then say "can not play music". if you google "echo dot can only play one song then turns off" you will see 100's of post regarding this problem . i have 1 echo 1st gen and 2 echo 2nd gens and all work great . if you have a fix let me know . the dot i have now goes back to the store in just a few days . just an fyi. i have went through all the settings and nothing works to keep amazon and pandora playing past 1 to 2 songs . thanks .

wow look at 3.06 when they are side by side.....both have bent audio jacks I have over 4 hours of time spent traveling to ups and talking to amazon trying to get a working copy that has no defects.

It has a 3.5 mm pour in the back so you can use a cable to connect to another device to play music. Or you can connect to it using Bluetooth however you will need an internet connection to initially set up the Bluetooth pairing.

Hi Dear friends. I purchased an Amazon Echo Dot wireless speaker. I can't get from the Amazon Alexa app to connect to Wifi. He reaches halfway and tells me that the password is incorrect from Wifi. But with the phone (iPhone X) I can connect to the Wifi of the Speaker. more than 4 hours and something I struggled and I do not shake. I feel like I'm exploding.

I want to know why the function to turn on and off my cable box wasn’t included. I can change channels and operate my dvr functions but I have to turn on my box with the remote otherwise it doesn’t recognize it being on. Verizon fios is my provider.

Aside from unplugging it there is no off button or switch on it. This device is meant to be kept on all the time and act as your unseen assistant at all times.

It depends on the TV, it might be going into a sleep mode which does not recognize commands.

1st smart speaker I've EVER owned or experienced and learning what to do with it. Mine's been muted as is yours, the mute button is red but the ring goes red/green/red/green. Is this thing still listening? And Do I "switch it off" when done? There's no off button. Or unplug it from the wall?

Really as long as you're within earshot of it you can get pretty good responses I have a 1200 square foot condo if I'm in my living room and say something the echo in the bedroom will pick it up and respond accurately as long as my door is open.

If you reset it it should just be a matter of logging into the account again to get all that data back . So just make sure whatever account you originally set up with the echo You then log back into that account .

With most smart bulbs there will be a skill that you need to add your Alexa. After adding the skill you can ask your device to search for devices and it should find the light bulbs and then connect them to your profile which will allow you to use the echo to control your lights. It would be a similar setup for a smart plug.

Have a new Echo Dot 3rd Gen. set up is complete and it is properly connected. Unlike you video I hav a light ring that continue to circle the device all the time. Shouldn't it be off when I am not asking it to do something????

There are some iot devices that require a central hub that connects to Wi-Fi. Those devices communicate with the Hub rather than directly with the Wi-Fi router. Zigbee is one of the protocol for a hub that does that type of communication.

It can look up information that you ask it. Not using Google to do so. Yes, I use this to listen to radio stations as long as they have a internet station. It does not work with all lights, you will need to see if they say Alexa compatible on them. It is pretty loud so depending on your room setup you could hear this in another room.

Most books are released by audible and are audiobooks now. Older, non-“the classics” books might be harder to find. Self published, textbooks, and non-fiction that is 5-10 years old is harder to find. 20 years ago when I started listening to books the pickings were scarce. Now there are so many and almost every new book is released in audio. If you are looking for non-audio books, to have Alexa read the printed word, I did hear someone saying yes but you would have to wait for someone else or search more.

There is an equalizer that you can play with using the app, but nothing labeled strictly bass from what I saw.

Yes. In the app, there is a three channel equalizer (bass, mid range, and treble) each with 6 settings above and below the center setting of "zero".

If you have the fire stick you can get it to open a show of movie if you have prime. I think you might be able to get it to open hulu, RU-vid or Netflix..but I haven't used that part of it in a while.

Not really, when plug it in it runs through a set up for the voice assistant. The only way to use it as a speaker would be to turn off your wifi but then the echo would just go red and tell you it lost connection. There are cheaper better options out there if you are just looking for a speaker.

It is used to plug into a stereo system, or wired head phones. It would be a matter of simply plugging in a head phones or connecting a male 3.5 to a male 3.5 from this to a stereo to get things working.

You need to have a Amazon Fire stick and have both on the same account once you do that you can use the echo to control that TV.

You can link up your Spotify account to it it doesn't have to be Amazon. It's just by default he uses Amazon.

I had to do this through my Wi-Fi router. It can't be done from the device itself.

It depends on the model but generally there should be an area called traffic monitoring from there you'll be able to find the echo device and limit the amount of information that it can use.

It sounds like Amazon's guard mode is on. What that means is it's actively listening for loud noises such as breaking and entering so they can notify you if you're not home. If you don't want this try asking your device to turn off guard mode.

The new app doesn't have voice restrictions which is not good. Anyone can access your emails, calendar, etc. They need to fix that.

I had to do setup twice. This might be made easier if you first set up your tablet/phone WIFI to the Amazon WIFI before you start. (I said "might") Best advice I have is if it fails, try again. It seems to learn from its mistakes.
