I highly recommend doing just that. 6 1/2 feet isn't tall enough, Tomato's, Cucumber's and Okra will all grow taller than that, also it needs additional structural stability added or you will be gathering up a twisted mangled pile of metal tubing and plastic from the other side of the field or yard the first time you have strong winds. The provided anchoring system isn't adequate. Here are a few things you need to do. First, build a wooden frame out of treated 2x12 lumber raising it 12 inches and anchor the frame, 24 inches would be even better making it 8 1/2 feet tall. Next frame in the doors with 2x4's, then add 3/4 or 1 inch PVC ribs in between each of the metal ribs. I bought this one 2 years ago and it was awesome for the first year. Then after a season, a storm blew the plastic in half down the middle seam. Then this year after getting a new covering, the end hoop metal frame bent in half in only 55 mile an hour winds. I’m now using the tarp as a compost cover and the metal frame pieces as tomato steaks lol. It’s still doing something. Hopefully y’all’s is holding up better than mine did!

If you're going to use one of these hoophouses and expect it to last any time at all you need to make a few upgrades. 6 1/2 feet isn't tall enough, Tomato's, Cucumber's and Okra will all grow taller than that, also it needs additional structural stability added or you will be gathering up a twisted mangled pile of metal tubing and plastic from the other side of the field your yard or even the neighbors yard the first time you have strong winds as you well know. The provided anchoring system isn't adequate. Here are a few things you need to do. First, build a frame of some kind, like out of treated 2x12 lumber raising it 12 inches and anchor the frame to the ground, 24 inches would be even better making it 8 1/2 feet tall. Next frame in the doors with 2x4's, then add 3/4 or 1 inch PVC ribs in between each of the metal ribs. RU-vid channel Gardening in Mississippi with Jim has a great video on this and other mod's he made to his Quicktent. There are many good videos on how to modify your hoophouse to add strength and stability but his is one of the best I've seen and I've watched dozens. All you have to do is do a youtube search. I just bought a Papajet brand 28x10 that's 7 1/2 feet tall marked down from $299 to $189 from Walmart online and the above mod's are what I'm gonna go with. Hope this helps, good luck should you decide to try again.

Your thin rope looped over it to hold it down will rub through the material really quick. If you do use a wide flat strap. With oh about 2 foot rear stakes that have a crook so the ring on the end of the strap won't slide off. You'll need to have that done if you don't have a chop saw and a torch to heat the metal to bend it how ya want it. We have all that so it was a lot better tie down system. And it is not going anywhere with 3 straps across the top.

@@preparedliving Sounds like a plan, I'm shooting to get mine 3' taller, putting grommets at the bottom of the plastic to wrap it under the frame and back up to the mid-rail with bungies or something. Then using corrugated clear plastic roof panels or even metal around the bottom where I raised it. Maybe even hinge them, not sure. After watching the ice buildup and the sting thing, I am thinking it would be pretty easy to run a couple 1/2" or 3/4 metal pcs. of conduit in the middle of the top the 3 purlins with a few more nuts & bolts.
