RU-vid just recommended your video today, even though it's almost a year old. It's holding up pretty well, I'll keep it! You've got quite a dry personality, which makes your video fun to watch.
For charging...As of late Apr 2019, the included charger kit no longer includes any 220v adapter pigtail. Tesla rep says they're pushing the wall charger instead; but... Tesla now sells pigtails of various types for only $35. I just ordered my M3 with a "side of" 14-30 pigtail.
Thankyou for this, I’ve never owned a car before...always rented through my company but definitely getting a Tesla model 3. Just wanted to say Thankyou for making my drive more comfortable later.
I live in Texas and it's gets very hot here but I didn't experience and issues with the glass roof. The tint that came on the roof blocks most of the heat. My only issues was with the window shield in rear window. I purchased the sunscreen for the front window and that really helped.
So we want a minimalist interior then we add bits and pieces to it. A resounding no from me to anything that takes away from the minimal design. It’s like buying a Monet and adding to it. Having said that the Tesla site add ones I will consider I’ve read about the center section scratching so that is a worry. Is there a clear one I wonder. Thanks for your post.
Agree on it being a beautifully-designed car. I tried to not detract from its minimalism on my ride. I've been in some over-accessorized Model 3 Ubers, and it was like seeing a bumper sticker on a Bentley.
There is a better wrap for the center console from EV Wraps which covers all the surfaces including the sides of the doors . The cup holders are specially nice as the wrap is designed to go over the curved areas and looks finished and factory made. On your mats you can reverse the logo and install the screws after painting them back. I also purchased a Tesla logo and covered one of the screws. You are right it is a bit pricy, but they look great. On a separate note, RPM Tesla takes too long to ship, forget the shipping method. It is been 10 days and my order is still not shipped. Thanks for the great videos.
I agree with the EV Wraps console covers. I prefer the black look to faux wood anyway, and the wraps do go around the edges. Took about an hour with very careful attention but it’s worth it. Highly recommended.
i know im late to the game, the windshield sunshade does tons more then keep the car cool. its more for keeping the interior leather in good shape. atleast for me.
About that electric plug adaptor: my understanding is that a NEMA 14-30 outlet is rated for a maximum of 30 amps (and probably is wired with a 30 amp breaker on the breaker panel). Leaving the appropriate safety margin, that means that the maximum continuous current draw should be no more than 24 amps. The Model 3 draws up to 32 amps continuous. So the adaptor is setting you up for overloading the circuit and, at best, causing the breaker to trip -- and at worst creating a fire hazard. If you set the Model 3 to draw no more than 24 amps, you should be OK (but I hope that someone more knowledgeable than I can verify that). Leaving the setting in default mode is dangerous.
Totally agree, I should have mentioned that. I charge at 24 amps. It's very easy to set from the charging screen, and the car retains its last setting.
I call it autopilot because that’s the name. I don’t call cars horseless carriages. Some of the items in this video are useless for most but to each his own. All in all good Tesla video.
Joey Scerbo Its also very similar to real autopilot. Autopilot maintains heading and altitude, you can autopilot straight into a mountain & is to prevent fatigue but does not fly a plane for you
Your Model 3 looks great! The tint really makes it pop. On the Nomad wireless charger, it has a built in battery which lets it charge @ 7.5w. This is partly why it cost more than the Jeda. I went with the Nomad and my buddy has the Jeda . We were both pleased with our purchase.
Thanks for the heads up! An integrated battery is certainly a more elegant design than Jeda's external, optional, and as far as I know, imaginary battery. They promise 10-15 W charging with that option, which I paid for, but it has yet to show up. I'll post a video review of that feature when (if?) it arrives.
Nomad stopped that, the pads now come with just a dummy steel core instead of a battery since the USB port now supports enough power for fast charging.
The price on the Nomad went down to the same price as the jada. The Nomad no longer has an battery. The Nomad looks completely factory and has led conformation lights that let you know your phone is charging.
Great video. I'd like to know more about why you decided against the paint protection film for the outside of the car? "Not as robust and easy to maintain" you said
I like the convenience of automatic car washes. Films are not advised for those. I also couldn't stomach the idea of needing to rewrap the car once the film turned yellow in a few years.
The Nomad Charger is way better. It has charging indicator lights so you know your charging the phone in the correct spot. I’ve had the others. You get what you pay for
Anthony LaPenta I also have the Nomad charger, but JEDA one upped them when they added the Landscape charge position. I Sometimes have difficulty picking up my phone from the Nomad gen 2 charger. I know it would not be an issue with the landscape position of the JEDA gen 2 charger. I’m still debating whether or not to get one.
Don't have a Tesla. :-( But would suggest pricing all these items on eBay. Same items (almost always) for less than Amazon. I sell thru both and buy 99% of the time from eBay.
Interior heating comes from INFRARED RADIATION aka (IR) not ULTRAVIOLET aka(UV) UV causes sun burns and ultimately skin cancer. All Auto manufacturers are required to use UV blocking glass, but not IR blocking. Window tinting adds extra UV blocking, but more importantly adds IR blocking which is what lowers interior heating.
I personally would opt for full autopilot. I use the lane keep assist 99% on the highway, and it does a better job than me of staying centered. It is safer and more relaxing - a must have. The standard 240 miles of range is more than enough in most situations. If I were buying today, I would buy that one because it's the best value, and find a way to get a gas car for the occasional long road trip.
Dark tint looks bad tbh, it’s such a North American thing. Light to no tint looks cleaner and more dynamic. I’d go with Llumar air 80 all around, windshield, roof.. etc, and just combine it with the tesla roof mesh shade, as well as the fitted mesh shades that covers the front and back side windows by QuickSnap. Get privacy and shade when needed, remove it for car show.
Got the phone mount based on this recommendation but can't seem to get it to stick in place behind the screen. Would rather not have to apply the extra adhesive plate to attach it to behind the screen as well, but don't see how it can work otherwise. I assume you used the extra plate to get it to stay? Would have been nice to know.
@mroscillot 600 for window tint? i got 15% ceramic from tint world in rockford IL and paid like 450. i also got PPF and ceramic coat for 2250 so 2700 in total... well worth the money
Like the video BUT... I used tintworld in Baltimore to put ppl on my vehicle ( horrible job) and to top off their work, they broke my front windshield putting protection on that. Ironic right ?
MrOscillot curious, is your dryer connection in the garage or are you running the extension cord from inside to outside? You’re the 1st video I’ve seen so far acknowledging the use of the dryer outlet. Considering the same option.
Do be careful about that. Yes, "appliance" extension cords are available, but every appliance maker advises against them and they can void a warranty. The issue is heating. For a couple of hundred bucks you can likely have an electrician move that box to the garage and eliminate the issue.
im super late, thats what would be considered 20%. this guy had it backwards, 80% tinted i guess but tint goes by how much light gets through so thats 20% tint. same reason as why limo tint is called 5%
Teslas adaptive cruise control is the best in the business? Are you high? I have a model 3, and can safely say its the worst in the business. And all but a safety feature, with all its random breaking during driving.
Which adaptive cruise are you comparing it to? I'm comparing mine to a Ford, Buick, and Mazda. I especially like Tesla's speed limit and dead end detection.
@@MrOscillot Ive had a Skoda and a BMW 3 series, they were both much much better (no random ass breaking). And I've driven the Audi A4 frequently, also much much better.... Dont get me wrong, I love my Tesla, but the adaptive cruise control is dangerously bad....
4 minutes in... Where are the accessories? It's mindless meandering chat about how thin the doors are and that you shouldn't call the autopilot "autopilot"
@@MrOscillot thx, i wasnt sure if the hello skyline case was so deep it didnt close since it is made deeper than factory. much appreciated! ps i have tuxmats as well and they are amazing, they have saved my floors many times!
You're the only reviewer that's said the OEM interior lights are adequate, I disagree as they are too dim. I think you're missing the point of a sunshade. Yes you can pre-cool the car via the app, but at a power cost. Why not keep the cabin cooler passively? Plus, a sunshade protects the dash from Sun damage. So, $87 is way too much for a console wrap, definite pass, and you paid $50 to have it installed? And I hate to tell you, but your tint is illegal for California, not to mention a front plate is required.
That's what's great about customizing a car - you get to make it how you want it! You are correct about the law, though I've lived in CA for 17 years now and have never been stopped for tint or a missing front plate.
@@MrOscillot for illegal tint, it is not just a fine, but a fixit ticket. You must prove that you removed the tint (have any LEO sign it), then pay the fine. Good luck not getting caught. Most people I know with illegal tint roll their front windows down whenever they spot a LEO, even if its freezing cold out. Unfortunately you cannot roll down your windshield, but 10% most likely won't attract any LEO attention.
I really don't get why you say "don't call it autopilot" when it's literally called autopilot. Tesla Autopilot and adaptive cruise control are two massively different things, and i can't wrap my mind around why you think that autopilot is adaptive cruise control.
When people hear the word autopilot, they think of an airplane's autopilot, which enables the operator to safely step away from the controls. Tesla's Autopilot does not allow for that.
MrOscillot And adaptive cruise control is when the car changes speeds based on the location and cars around it. Tesla’s autopilot is full self driving with the exception of a few situations and city driving. Even just calling it autopilot is correct, because plane autopilot requires monitoring and it also can’t take off and land.
@@averygoodrich2927 modern airplane autopilot systems absolutely can handle landing. Do you own a Tesla? The company is promising FSD via software update by the end of the year IF laws change to allow for it. I'm not holding my breath.
MrOscillot Most planes don’t land using autopilot because it’s safer for a pilot to do this. I only say that because I have a friend who is a pilot and we had a conversation about it. And the full autopilot coming later is definitely exciting. I’m almost 100% sure that the laws won’t change for it though, as the government is largely composed of an older generation of people who aren’t confident in Tesla’s technology.
Could anybody explain to me how this model 3 can be silver? I thought they only sold this darker silver. This silver looks farrrrr superior to all the other colors tbh!
@@MrOscillot The factory rear view mirror in truth is all but useless. I am waiting for a more aesthetically pleasing option. I chose function over form in my Jeep.
Here's this accessory. Didn't install it. Here's another. Returned it. Here's one more. It was useless. Way to list 16 BEST accessories. First and last video from this channel.
