It has been very important to me to share such a vulnerable moment in my life with you. I hope that understanding and perspective is gained from this considering many of the horrific things our community is currently going through. To the people that have experienced this or are currently encountering a situation like this, you are not alone and you have a voice that deserves to be heard and understood. I am a 50 year old gay Hispanic male and your music brings tears to my eyes. My father was murdered when I was 8 and my mom raised my brother, sister, and myself as best as she could. I rarely share music with her, but Letters To My Younger Self speaks volumes. I live in Denver, CO and you will know who I am when you come to play the Mission Ballroom, I will be the one crying like a baby. Much love on your journey. ❤️

Pain inspires me too, Ambar. That's what we are here for; Sweet Pain, inevitable Loneliness, prescribed suffering. With the negative we wouldn't even know Positive exists.

I was bless to have me dad here in the united states but with him working day and night not making too much time for me and my fam it got hard to be seen by him. For him to sit with my pain as a father should. And the way he grew up that was something he did not under was necessary for him to do as a dad. At the end when both Amber and he father shared the pain that the whole separation caused broke me. How they both were able to hold one another and cry. Just make me wept like a baby because finally they were able to some what begin to repair the broken hole they both had in their heart. The documentary was truly beautiful because it reminded me how bless I am to have this opportunity to have this reconciliation with my dad every day. This is not just an immigration story it's a story of feeling whole again to the love that is rightfully yours to have. A love of a father. With everything that is going on at the border I think it's also a reminder of the endless stories like this that is come from other families that will and are separated by something that was not fault the children nor the parents.

Thank you for sharing this meaningful project. Thank you for showing light to the pain these ridiculous policies inflict in so many homes across the globe. Watching this makes me feel so thankful that I have both my parents here with me. This has made me want to know more about you. I honestly cried watching this. So sad that immigrants come to this country to supposedly have a better life but always end up having it taken away from them. It’s just not fair. Seeing you live in Chicago I could feel your souls through your singing it was beautiful. Thank you for putting out music that makes our souls unite. Keep being you girl💕

This was so deep and I was not mentally prepared for this cause I’m In the same position have never met my father something clicked me with your music for a reason I’m hurting

My childhood was very similar, my father was deported when I was 10. That had an enormous impact on my family. It was really hard seeing my mom go through that, raising my younger brother and I. I didn’t have a relationship with my father after he was deported, unfortunately he passed away last year. It has been difficult to try and understand so many things. Thank you for sharing this with us and giving my younger self some comfort knowing I wasn’t so alone as I felt. I’m also learning to heal from my trauma. Best wishes to everyone on this healing path. 🤍

this doc was so beautiful. like this made us learn where your pain comes from and how your parents are so supportive of you and love and I'm so glad you got over the feeling of loneliness because to get over that feels takes time and a lot of healing, I'm so happy you have people in your life that are about you and so happy you got to see your dad over years of not seeing him. It touched my heart seeing your pops try to reach out and show emotion. But like you said when soo much time gone by and not seeing each other, its like you don’t know the person or know what to say...
