AMBIcon 2013: MICHAEL STEARNS Full Concert (Production video) 

The past 3 years of my life have been brutal from uncontrollable stress. This morning I listened to this profound performance and fell into the deepest calm since a near-death medical experience in 2012. 12 hours later I remain in a state of deepest calm.

Michael, your music has been one of the stabilizing influences in my life. You have helped me process pain, and even my soul and why I am here. Your music has been the sound track to my life and I cannot thank you enough for your thoughtful and beautiful contribution to our world. Peace....

The past two years have been uncontrollably laden with death. Family, pets, friends....will it ever stop, I sometimes wonder? Then, I find this video, and if even but for a moment, I am transported to another realm. I'm 48, and have listened to Michael Stearns on and off throughout the years, but tonight, it's like this concert was played for me... I love you, Dad...I love you Brian...I love you Seth, I love you Ezra, I love you Rocko, I love you Liefje.... As an Atheist, I have hope that we'll meet again.... Two years can bring insurmountable pain and chaos, but here's to next year....2022. It can't rain forever, right? Thanks for being the vessel to get me to a different level of thinking; a thinking of positive consciousness...a level of hope for the future. I needed this. 🙏

Watching this video of Michael perform is a thrill. He beautifully evokes the transcendent. No words do this justice. In 1985 I saw the film "Chronos" at the Exploratorium in San Francisco with his soundtrack. One of my favorite albums is his "Desert Solitaire" collaboration with Kevin Braheny and Steve Roach. His contributions to Ron Fricke's movie "Baraka" is also great. At 51:20 I know that Michael will bring it on home on a cloud.

Wonderful artist and human being 1st & foremost. a true innovator. I love Michael's soundtrack to CHRONOS..and of course his epic masterpiece PLANETARY UNFOLDING! just one of a kind natural talent. Thanks so much for the upload. made my morning to hear this

This is an intimate, very relaxing and texturally fascinating performance. I believe the end of the video's audio was accidentally mixed to the front. But it only adds to the "we aren't super massive recording industry executives and we don't want to be. We're a small community that embraces the music we love and we make mistakes." Michael Stearn's voice and compositional style speak to my love of IMAX and documentary soundtracks growing up in the late 70s / 80s. Brilliant performance, so thank you for this convention and putting this on RU-vid.

I heard Michael Stearns' Microtonal Vibraphones on XM Radio, and absolutely loved it. I can't find it anywhere though, not even on iTunes. Can anyone who has been following Michael Stearns longer than me steer me in the right direction? I so want to hear it again! I think there's something similar to it in this video, but not quite the same.

I am so happy these have been posted and I stumbled across this. I love Michael's work along with several other artists featured at AMBIcon 2013. I hope Michael will release a new body of work sometime. He is sorely missed.

Regretfully, I couldn't be at this landmark gathering of these talented artists - work and family obligatins. I was hoping for something like this recording, though. Truly a stirring, evocative performance by one of my favorite ambient music artists
