These effects are contained in a demo mission called Hells kitchen available on the Steam workshop.
To gain access to all my scripts and demos etc you need to subscribe to my channel and send a friend request on the Steam. This is done to limit spam on thr Wotkshop.
Here's a simple SP and MP demo 'mission' showing methods of terminating ambient anim and using switchmove without having to use remoteexec. And a few other examples. Tested in SP and on MP listen server.
Over 25,000 hours in Arma 3 and still going strong. I've been gaming and creating content for games since 1987. I'm a computer engineer with a creative background. I still play lots of other fps games - but as you can see I'm an Arma -holic - so to speak. (no reference to the community site by the same name).

Yes - sorry I made a mistake and put the wrong Dropbox link - Its fixed now - see above. The required mod list is included in the html file - just import the html file into ytour Arma 3 Launcher and it will auto subscribe and acquire the mods for you. Note Sangin map is not well optimized - so this is really just a demo of ambient effects. I ported the real mission to the excellent Lythium map.

Holy shit i’m like 5 minutes in and the drill sarge marching while they sing is particularly impressive. Overall, never seen this level of detail in any op i’ve made or attended and this is a huge inspiration. Hope i can get good as this eventually

well boys, it’s been 2 years and i think i’ve gotten to a pretty decent level with my small prior knowledge of the fundamentals... still got loads to learn but it’s happening! cinematic intros, ambient animations, scripted naval cannon artillery with custom explosion effects, and more. keep grinding bros

Hello Rick, stumbled on to your stuff this past weekend and gave a sub. Hopefully there will be a release on the workshop for this mission as well! Great details, good mix of build and gameplay videos. Would you consider a dropbox for mission .pbo's on the workshop as well? Would help for those of us who know how to update/modify etc... if you are open to that. Keep up the great vids and content going into the new year - thanks!

Yes of course it's not map dependent. You will also find the latest version of the cadence script on my Steam Workshop page - with a default example on the Altis map. If you need help - just message me on Steam.

awesome script, but I'm having trouble getting them to trigger. I'm wondering if something is wrong with the "_isinrange" part of my script as I don't understand that part. Could you expound on that part? Thanks

The sounds like Radiosfx obviously works for you in multiplayer. For me it works in eden editor but not on server. Any help ?

@@RickOShay I got it working by removing the 'if server' part at the top of the script. Don't understand any scripting but was just playing around with it. I love your mods. We started a campaign on Anizay and I can't wait to dump the first sandstorm on the guys.

Hey Rick first just wanna say "Thank you" for this awesome video. I do have a question regarding the "Karate" anima. Did you add the sound file or does it exist already? my guys were silent and in your anima the sound is in sync with their movement.

What if I want to add in multiple sounds? I.E an air raid siren at one point and then a radio transmission on the other

Assuming you mean in the cadence group? Well each of the runners in the example are called run1 run11 so you would either have to schedule the 'callout' sound timing using time delays for the individual units you want to speak or randomize sound selection - either way it would be best to use a script. Randomizing sound selection would be far easier but I would need to know what exactly you want to do. It could get quite tricky depending on the sound sample lengths and how you plan to overlay the sounds etc.

@Skyler Slack I used some mods for US and enemy units like RHS etc. but afa the ambient effects are concerned they dont require any mods. If you open the mission folder you will find the mods.html file which you can import into the launcher. If you follow the video closely you.will be able to add these effects into your mission without too much difficulty. Shout if you.need help.

@@RickOShay well, i need help with the tracer effects you find in Achilles mod, you are able to make them shoot at a specific target or ASL, but i keep getting an error even when assigning the class name of the object to the tracers to shoot at

OK you need to find the artillery vehicle in the Config viewer and then look for the ammo classes. If you send me a message on Steam I'll help you find the classes.

Right at the beginning of the video it says the map is called Summer Sangin - unfortunately this map is bugged performance wise - it's an old ported A2 map. Anyway it served the purpose for the demo.

could you make the Military cadence into a steam workshop composition, if not could someone comment the Military cadence script that needs to go into the triggers and into the units, its way too complicated to alt tab from arma to this and copy it symbol by symbol, thanks!

Access to these demos, tutorials and scripts is limited to YT subscribers and SW friends - this is done to limit spam on the Workshop. You mean the cadence script? {_x disableAI "anim"; while {alive _x} do {_x playmove "AmovPercMrunSnonWnonDf"}} foreach [run1, run2, run3, run4, run5, run6, run7, run8, run9, run10, run11]; [run1, "march"] remoteExec ["say3D"]; Soldiers are named run1...run11.

If you get stuck - shout. The above script was run as you can see in the video via a trigger. The array of runners will need to be changed according to your naming system. If the trigger that calls the script runs on all machines (at the same time) then the say3d command doesn't need to be remoteexec'd - in which case the last command would be: run1 say3d "march"; Editor placed triggers exist in the mission.sqf file and as such exist on all machines on the network including the server. Likewise the trigger condition: player in thislist - would be triggered at different times since player is different on each machine.

(This is done to limit spam on the Steam Workshop) Then I will take you through the entire process - including making ogg sound files, attenuation issues etc.

This is beautiful work. It's a shame most of it does not work on a dedicated server. Especially the animations. I hate how we're given these tools and features that should work locally and server side yet they don't. Some can be sorted with ifServer is bla bla but even then it just breaks. I both love and hate arma 3 editing for this. It's a constant battle of "Oh this would be really awesome" followed by disappointment when it just doesn't work or can't be done. I'm not spending hours just to get some tiny little detail working that may never work or even be seen in a mission. When the editor is being fleshed out better by modders than the official team can do then you know something is up.

Remoteexc'ing switch or playmove generates quite a lot of network traffic especially where you have a number of units all playing the same animation and where timing is important. Most window dressing can be local-so it's best to create objects locally then they wont impact the network.This is not a limitation of Arma3 specifically.

How does it handles in a server? I remember that bis_functions for animations was a pain to get to work in a server environment

Obviously you wouldn't have all these running at the same time in an actual mission. The effects are mostly client side. Individually they have minimal fps impact in MP. I use the cadence one at the start of a mission while players are kitting up. They are deleted after a +/- a minute. Most of the others work fine as well. But I wouldn't use Sangin province - the map seems to be badly optimized for Arma 3. I was just demoing this using that map.

@@striker7145 @6.55 mark - the code does not point to a script file. Any messages you get relating missing scripts therefore must relate to something else in your mission.

Hello Rick, could you do a more detailed marching video as i tried to copy it, and seemed to have failed amazingly, The current content you are doing is amazing and i'm trying to get into mission making more as i can create a scene but the scene always needs that special taste of actors. Can you tell me what actually happened with your attempt? The mission is available on the SW it's called Hell's Kitchen. If you subscribe and then go here : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\63775314\107410 emote you'll be able to find the Hells%20Kitchen.hellskitchen.pbo file - then use a program called PBO manager which is available for download - just Google it. It will let you open the mission file and you can then copy the mission to your C:\Users\James\Documents\Arma 3\missions folder - then start Eden and open the Hell's kitchen mission - you can then see how it was done. Seems to be a problem, the pbo extracts fine but the mission doesn't come up. is there a way to do a vanilla version with the sounds you use?

You need to activate the mods that are listed on the SW Hells Kitchen page. CBA, Cup Core, Cup Maps, CAF_AG1.5, RHSUSAF, RHSAFRF and Sangin2.

Yeh, unfortunately it still doesn't work... i've gotten some progress though, i managed to use vanilla but only the leader of the group is moving Edit: ive done it! I know that your from South Africa i could tell by your voice so i'll let you sleep, but after faffing around with my faults i got it to work. Sorry to bother you and thanks again!

The default cadence running anim is shown at around the 12:30 mark. If you found this useful please like subscribe etc if you haven't already. Anim is: "AmovPercMrunSnonWnonDf"

Note the original map Summer Sangin 5x5 is bugged and hugely laggy. I had to abort making mission as a result. Real pity - it is a great map apart from performance. Btw I noticed a new variant which may have been fixed on SW. I eventually ported the mission to Lythium which is an amazing, well optimized large map as you probably know.
