Ref track is Nils Frahm, "Mussel Memory." I have struggled a lot with making pads more interesting than "super saw into excessive reverb" and I feel like it was a really good lesson for me to use absolutely no reverb or delay effects. Source code up at / synthdef .

When you dropped the root to 63 it sounded to me like it ramped down over a second.. was that auditory illusion d/t such long exposure to the previous freqs, or in the code somewhere?

There wasn't any programmed slide. There are random LFOs modulating pitch, but I don't think that would explain it. We may have discovered a new auditory illusion!

@@synth_defI listened to the whole thing on headphones..I know auditory fatigue is very real, after an hour listening to over-tone rich stuff like that, my flute sounds like doo-doo!
