I just posted my R1 demo yesterday. I do kinda hear what you're saying, especially with the drive in the spring and plate modes. I think the lo/high/x settings are really the key to getting rid of that
As a straight pitch shifter, no. It's pitch modes are weird and really great once you find some sweet spots, but it doesn't do clean pitch shifting like a Whammy would
if you are quite careful with how you set it up, it actually does a decent, conventional octave up. not as clean as a POG or something like that, but pretty good monophonic pitch-shifting. i don’t own a straight pitch-shifter so i have a setting saved as one of the presets on my particle 2 and it does alright for select parts of songs and improvs.
