Ambitful AL-16 Focusable Snoot Review (with STOLEN Gobos!)

This is my review of the Ambitful AL-16 Focusable Snoot. It’s made from images of an unboxing and review that I did for a friend about 3 years ago. When I first got this unit, I recognized a GAM gobo and a magmod gobo, but after looking further, it looks like nearly all the included gobos are stolen! Even so, at the time there weren't many units like this and it served me well.

Thank you for such a detailed review. Strictly speaking, the aperture ring is a polygon. When it is clear and close, it is a polygon. After blurring, it becomes a circle.

thanks for the review. I have a godox sa-17 but I cannot use my strobe with it (DP400 iii) so I was thinking buying one of this Ambitful AL-16 or a strong constant light so I can use the godox sa-17.

I've heard good things about the Godox SA-17, but as you say, it's made for LED and not strobes. Depending on how much light you need, maybe you could mount a camera flash in it using a bowens bracket? It has a flat face like and LED unity, so it might work.

The gel holder should be in the lens cap
@vampiredirt

That is good to know! Mine is missing, but hopefully, that knowledge will help someone.

@@vampiredirt I thought mine was missing too. The cap was glued with the support of the jellies: to extract it, I advise you to use a razor blade or cutter to lift it from under and remove it from the cap

@@thomasdellagnello5948 I really don't see anything but a thin cap, but I will try what you say.

I suspect the filter ring was discontinued? You don't see them anymore in the sales photos, in fact, they go out of their way to show it with the gobo insert. I bought a second one and it doesn't have it either. Too bad, it looked convenient.@@charisphotography258

Hello, I have the exact ambitful snoot. I'm used the sutefoto rgb light with it but the light seems dim even when light power was on maximum. I also used the Ad600 with it, light was still dim. What could be the issue please?
@vampiredirt
@vampiredirt Год назад
I don't know what a Sutefoto is, but it sounds like a constant light. I also assume you are talking about the AD600 modeling lamp and not the flash. This might be a dumb question, but are you projecting in the dark or with the lights on, or worse during the day. You don't want to compete with ambient light when using such a low power light source. Also, this works when you're taking properly metered flash photos, right? If not, then I'd seriously worry.

Can be used on tight-space room?
@vampiredirt
@vampiredirt Год назад
With the default lens (the "pro" version allows interchangeable lenses) I'd say it *might* manage for small product photography in a tiny space, but you'd probably have to push it up against a wall.

Can you take the lens off?
@vampiredirt
@vampiredirt Год назад
You can remove the lens on the PRO version. The standard (old version) in this review has a fixed lens. The PRO version also has an optional mount for Canon and Nikon lenses.
@sjoerdknol

@@vampiredirt thanks for the reply! How wide would you say the standard lens is? Do you think it’s good enough or should I get the pro version so I have more options? Also: do you have any idea if the pro version comes with the standard lens also? Thank you!
@vampiredirt
@vampiredirt Год назад
@@sjoerdknol Ambitful doesn't provide much info, but my guess is that it's the same lens is on both versions. The included lens is great for product shots or highlighting hair or tattoos on a model, etc. I have no idea how it performs with Canon or Nikon lenses, but if you own any, you could probably stick it in front of a flash and take a photo of the wall to get an idea of what kind of projection you'd get.

Hey is it compatible with godox ad 600 pro

Yes, if you buy the Bowens version.

@paritosh3saklani Wait! You need to buy a Godox adapter for Bowens mount. I thought the AD600 Pro comes with it, but I think maybe I got mine free as a special. Please be sure to check.
