amblyopia patient message lazy eye ,if your kid has deviated eyes or has decreased vision, watch TV or hold book from very near distance or if school teacher informs that your kid is having difficulty in viewing board clearly, the you must consult an Eye Specialist for proper vision and Eye check up, vision must be corrected before 8 years of child age, otherwise patient may develop Amblyopia, which may not corrected after 8 years of age, though we do patching (we close eye with good vision for 3-4 hours/day according to patient age),
this young girl presented to my OPD with decreased in both eyes, especially in left eye, which is not corrected with glasses, she has got amblyopia in left eye and her best corrected vision in left eye is 6/24, i advised patching to left eye, in which she will close her right for 3-4 hours daily on same time for few weeks according to her age
amblyopia is very common problem and is the most neglected issue and parents bring their to me very late, so my advise to all parents is that if you feel that your kid has decreased vision or has got squint in eyes, then do consult eye specialist as soon as possible, to correct vision and if amblyopia is present, then patching should be started in time
