you are absolutely correct about the shape and weight! the toe box is much different, resembles more of a dunk or jordan 1 low imo. and they are definitely heavier, i can confirm! love the shoes tho, the quality is fantastic

Excellent review Sean, you’re consistently one of the best there is. You highlighted some important points for would-be buyers. Firstly the size: AF1 always seem to run roomy, but these were much roomier than normal. I have wide feet so tend to go tts and for comfort purposes add a better insole in my AF1s. For these, I deffo needed to go a half size down, I was swimming in the tts pair I originally bought. Also, the weight is a factor in these, AF1s tend to be chunky and a little ‘clompy’ compared to contemporary designs, but these are really solid. Perhaps it’s the additional plastic/rubber structure around the heel and thicker swooshes alone, but I sense there’s more to it, they are a substantial shoe. Additionally, the toe box is wide, but as you mentioned is slightly sleeker height-wise, less boxy than your average AF1. I like the overall silhouette and the leather quality (which actually smells of proper leather!) and finish is outstanding, particularly for what is essentially a mass-produced shoe - even if it is a ‘high fashion’ collab. I doubled up on both the phantom and black pairs and use them for smart occasions, where my styling is understated and clean. The swooshes are sorta akin to a statement piece of furniture in understated interior design, they just work. Well worth the little price premium IMO.

Woohoo! So glad you reviewed these! I copped as well. And yeah I agree with you! These run super big :(. I actually usually go tts on my AF1s because I’ve never known otherwise. But yes I should have gotten these half size down. The only thing that makes my tts work is putting in crease protectors. I guess that will have to get the job done. But yes the quality on them is great and I love the extended swoosh and colorway

I got a pair, excellent review you pretty much hit everything I was thinking about when I got it. The thing for me though is the shape of the shoe is slightly different than a regular af1. I bought a new pair of white w/ black swoosh af1s to test it and I think the regular pair looks better. (it could also be the ambush was roomy so the shape feels more exaggerated for me personally) I absolutely love the quality of the leather and thats what I was looking for, an elevated af1 that wasn't $400 lol but yeah, I'm returning my SNKRS w.

since I saw them in the Nike app I loved the pedi and I already have a pair of blue with yellow I also want to have the green ones with yellow and maybe the black ones with white the blue ones with yellow are beautiful I don't regret it ❤

Yoon refined the shape of the shoe. It’s very subtle bur it was definitely intentional. I think she did a great job.

Not an AF1 wearer or collector but this one looks amazing with the materials

yeah it looks like a tapered toe box i saw it in a store, heavier too because of the premium solid rubber sole similar to those Alexander Mcqueens if you know that 😅

I have the volt and royal ambush dunks as well as this pair. They are all pretty great. The dunks are so amazingly comfortable compared to any other dunk.

Ironically, these were sitting on SNKRS for about a day. They didn't immediately sell out at all. They are indeed both larger and heavier than normal AF1 lows. People with narrow feet might be able to pull off going a full size down. For everyone else, the usual half size down is recommended. The dunks also had really nice leather, by the way. It's been my favourite aspect of the Ambush releases.

Now subscribed and loving your reviews. Ambush AF1 Phantom color arrived today. Nice to have a slightly different shade of white for summer. I listened to suggestions and did one full size down. AF1 ‘07 are 1/2 size down for me. I think this was a good choice. Nice fit and still toe room. Not the best look when toe box curls up because shoe is too big!

These run so big. I bought my regular AF1 size. Bad mistake. I put my size 10 side-by-side with 10.5 Reimagined WC3's and they run longer! The quality is amazing to me. Very plush leather. Just need to size down.
