This is a great episode, glade to see amd cto and GPU vp talk about technology and hear directly from them how technology is evolving and what's in the future for us . Wish amd good luck .
@9:04 Key piece. Chiplet/Modular approach was a Gamechanger. And @10:15 INTEL the Goliath to AMD's David. @13:59 some Chiplet Strategy details explained
Next generation Ryzen desktop chips will be called Ryzen 9000 series. Ryzen 8000 series is already out on mobile (laptops). Hence why chips like the Ryzen 7 8840hs already exist. Guessing they wanted to follow the branding with Ryzen generations. So you got the Ryzen 3000 series, Ryzen 5000 series, Ryzen 7000 series, and Ryzen 9000 series is next.
Great Video! Q: With All the GRE (gold rabbit edition) GPUs being released, Will AMD produced a Dragon Edition for this year? As i recall, the year of the Rabbit was last year. If AMD ever produced an All White 7800XT Dragon Edition with a max length of 280mm for ITX builds, this thing would fly off the shelf! im praying something like this happens thats also not a limited quantity deal. So many people are born on the year of the dragon like, Bruce Lee. Its time for AMD to produce a kick ass Dragon Edition GPU to be released this year even if its a rebrand, id still buy it.
I’ve been using your cards all my life and with each new one, especially the nasty drivers, with constant crashes, and then the new driver cuts down the FPS and greatly!, Greetings from Nvidia
It's not about being good enough, software in conjunction with hardware has become more important, as there seems to be much more gains obtainable through driver optimization and bug fixes, supporting new models, apis vs a node increase or 2.
Yeah and AMD has had to feel the pain for years with CUDA being the de-factor standard in the professional GPU world, Intel having stronger influence with big software partners like Microsoft, etc. ROCm has come a long ways, along with FSR and others where the competitive gap has shrunk. Continuing to leverage the democratizing forces of OSS is essential for them and benefits consumers and customers alike.
I bought an RX 500 series, after 6 months a new driver and still -60 fps, I bought an RX 5000 series, after a new driver - FPS bought an RX 6000 series, later a new driver - FPS bought an RX 7000 Series later a new driver - New video card, Nvidia Hello for the idea)))
did I just see a smile? did they just hint they will partner with 3rd party chiplets domain experts with specialized accelerators and bolt them onto AMD products? Think AMD + Graphcore or AMD+Google TPU, AMD+AWS Inferentia all in one FPGA/GPU single chip architecture.... It sounded to me thats what they are hinting at.
Dear AMD, Intel is faster with releasing the upscalling. More - it has used early access - the code on repository is ready, can be thrown to any game by replacing dll. It seems you are loosing the early access game.
How about you took one of your many partners to do these videos with? There's no way that out of Sony, Microsoft, HP, or numerous game devs using FSR, nobody has anything to say about what AMD tech is about.
amd needs to innovate and compete with mac silicon in terms of unifying ram, cpu, storage , apu/gpu for laptops , silicon photonics research should be on the table for amd, hihg powered apu which are better than intel should be on amd so as to compete with intel in desktop , so much innovation to do for amd because now even qualcomm is entering the x86 era , amd should also try to combine AI chip in their cpu in the form of cores .......
