@@maryfregain4648 Still more than Gypsy or Tina get. Don't get me wrong, I don't like either of them, but maybe, if they were as well fed as Ameia is, Gypsy might not abandon her kids as soon, and Tina would have more milk, and not need to raid pouches either. Just saying. And yes, she is well fed, Arroz would say something about it, if JW were dishonest about things. They are friends. JW does the car park, and Arroz does the main road. Arroz would notice if JW was fake. And her babies both are very healthy, so she must be getting plenty of food to have enough milk for them to be so healthy. This is not the Cambodian Temples. This is a protected monkey habitat. They don't bait, tease, or torment these monkeys here.
I'm not sure if you realize that mother nature has provided them this ability. I have some 200 hours of study & research in the short tail, long tail and the hybrid monkeys. All of these are similar but each does have differences. God has given them the knowledge to keep wounds clean and by licking these wounds they seem to heal far better than we do. I am about to make a full post but in my studies, it is very difficult for the mother who has twins to have enough milk. Many times the moms have a difficult time producing enough milk for one. I will explain more in my single post.
I'm new here been watching for a couple weeks now on Arroz recommend. Started out watching those other channels and stopped. I can't express how much joy I have watching yours & the Arroz videos! You're both so kind, caring and I do believe you're good enough to do this for Animal Planet. Also it's wonderful to have a comment section of people that play nice, care about about the monkeys and are kind to each other! This mom is so loving I really hope Dario is okay.
@Carla Hooper I'm a bit confused about who's videos you're asking me about. I'm on JW'S video therefore it's JW I'm talking about. Hope this clears things up for you :)
Amaia seems to have a large gash at the centre of her back as well, she also has several other healed and healing wounds herself, being a low ranking member of her troop probably leads to many literal fights for survival. Baby Dario will probably be fine assuming there are no internal brain injuries!
Of the two, Dario appears to be a bit smaller and far less aggressive. That wound almost looks like an open site of infection that has begun to heal. Odd.
@Lorie Flickinger Could you please pass on this video to your likeminded friends? It would be stellar if your friends wanted to compliment the subject’s (Monkey Abu) channel’s comment section (letting the elderly minions who are sending this woman their social security checks because they believe she is a “righteous protector of animals”) on this very proper thrashing. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y4NpDJnO17k.html
The gash is quite deep & a good chunk of tissue missing !! Really should be stitched but I know that would be next to impossible. She is keeping it clear but high chance that an infection could set in !! I'm surprised the little guy doesn't seem to have much pain associated with it !!
These macaques have amazing healing abilities. There's no need for stitches and it's unlikely to become infected, especially with his mum licking his wound to keep it clean. There's something in their saliva that seems to speed the healing process.
To add to @Em...nursing Mom's have great control over baby's ability to heal through their milk supply. Mom's always sniff their baby's rear...this gives Mom an instant health assessment and her milk supply is able to adjust with enzymes, antibodies and nutrients to meet baby's need. In this case, Ameia's milk probably has immune boosting antibodies and nutrients to quell the infection on Dario. It's one piece of a multi-faceted health system that keeps these creatures nearly impervious to infection and pain. For an infection to kill a baby, it has to be really really bad and very deep.
“Sono rimasto molto commosso. Era come un angelo che voleva aiutarmi”, ha commentato l’artista. È avvenuto in Turchia e ci mostra l’innocenza e l’affetto degli animali.
THANKS JW!!! AWWWWE!! SO sad to hear of Ameia's Baby's "BROKEN HEAD" as you so delicately put it!!!😬😲😬 NICE ICING ON THE CAKE..."TO FOLLOW UP WITH A "REAL" BABY CRYING!!😥😪😛😁
With only a cell phone, I'm amazed you captured as much as you did. Were those scrapes on the other side of his head? He must've suffered one hell of a fall! Since Ameia's always trying to juggle the 2 boys at the same time, it's easy to imagine how that could happen. The poor baby. From the look of his wound, his head must've been punctured by something awfully sharp.
@@hollisblinn7910 I don't know, a large hole that appears to be pretty deep and two, or more, poke marks on the opposite side of his head? Something bit him. I'm just having a hard time imagining how, given how she never lets either of them even squirm out of her lap, got ahold of his head. The way she's able to just walk up and get all the food she could ever want, the other monkeys of the troop might take exception to that. I'm assuming she's low ranking as she never appears to be groomed at all. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it was a bite from a large male.
We don’t see her too often. She’s pretty low ranking. Coronavirus is keeping Monkey Hill well fed. It’s good to see they’re thriving, even with a bad boo-boo.
Aww poor baby....he does look quite alert as to what is going on around him and the wound looks clean, his Mum must be looking after it, fingers crossed he will pull through this.....they do seem to have an incredible healing capacity. Thank you JW for this video and I shall look forward to an update on the little one in the not too distant future. Take care and keep Safe.
3:55 Tbh I'm surprised there's no sign of brain damage yet. That is a huge deep hole!!! Baby mknkeys are extremely resilient for sure!!!! Thanks for this great video!
What fun watching Brio try to out maneuver mom to get a bite of that corn. I guess it is a good thing we don't have macaques in Tennessee, I'd never get anything done because I'd be baby watching all the time. Thank you JW, I enjoy these videos so very much.
@@tngrandma3603 I had been watching the videos around the temple but I enjoy these so much more. Better quality, no harassing the monkeys, just a better group of people who comment!
@@rubyboatwright7995 Do you also watch Arroz Marisco? Another good group is the Vervet Foundation. It is in Africa and they have a large set up where they take in orphan babies and they have a foster mother program and then then when orphan and foster mother bond, she takes the baby out into the troop. The vervet babies are not quite as cute as these rhesus, but they are cute.
Is Dario's hole healing? Gee, that is a deep hole but Ameia is keeping it clean. He is still alive. Does anyone know what happened? Thanks for the video. Ameia can still juggle 2 kids and 2 pieces of corn.
@@JWmonkeyhill that's what I'm thinking he fell and a sharp broken Branch stabbed him in the head damn that's a deep wound but mama is taking good care of it looks like JW thank you for the videos!
@@lisaperry5999 She adoptrd Dario very young. Apparently something happened to his mom. Ameia is amazing, feeding two babies and coming to get goodies. ShE can handle 2 babies with one hand and 2 pieces of corn in the other while eating.
Jeez, all these comments about Dario's head wound! But what the hell happened to Ameia's lips? They've been torn off! Obviously it was some time ago. A food offense? Would make sense as to why her head is on a swivel, looking for higher ranking monkeys watching her actions. I just don't like these animals. The only ones I TRULY can't stand because of how violent they are: to their offspring, each other and people! Attacks have risen in India, especially due to their reliance on human food. Those who refuse to feed them are being savaged. A 12 yr old girl's face was ripped off. Also an elderly man was struck in the head with a brick and killed by a macaque. These may sound like isolated incidents but there are so many more not reported. Humans should NEVER,EVER FEED MONKEYS! It destroys their natural foraging behavior and creates health problems like OBESITY and DIABETES! Furthermore, when females have Gestational Diabetes, the baby develops too large in the womb, causing it to be too large to pass through the birth canal. It will either smother during birth or the mother AND baby die! This is PURELY the fault of HUMANS. If ANYONE TRULY cares about these creatures, DO NOT ENCOURAGE FEEDING. They were born with the proper instincts to keep themselves and young fed! You are not doing them any favors by giving them food not normally found in their wild diet. Lastly, an overabundance of food, gives the males nothing to do but screw all the females due to boredom. This means too many babies being born at once, causing population explosions and stress on the troop as competition for food increases! Please, think about your actions and the effects they have on the creatures you all claim to love so much! Loving something means giving them what THEY NEED. NOT what YOU THINK they need!
Ameia was born with the birth defects. I'm sorry for what've happened in India where there're about 50 million monkeys! But the same thing is not gonna happen in Hong Kong, as we here only have 1800 macaques, of which 80% of the female macaque have been sterilized.
@@JWmonkeyhill THAT'S FANTASTIC! WAY TO GO HONG KONG! What are the dispositions of these monkeys? One would think they'd be more calm. However, dispositions do differ among the species. I'm just really curious! Thank you for the insight. It's appreciated. I enjoy speaking with humans of exceptional intelligence!! Gratitude from U.S!
There is a huge over-population problem with these things. And they are dirty and carry tons of diseases. Feeding them is just furthering the problem. Honestly the ones that are sick and injured should be humanely euthanized. And people should NOT keep them as pets. That's a huge no considering if you piss it off it can rip your throat out. How exactly were the females sterilized? Unless you are knocking them out and spaying them you can't be 100% sure they are really sterile.
Pretty obvious what happened. A scuffle over treats, Dario was probably on her back and a bite from a dominant monkey intended for her hit him instead. Does he survive?
The boys are grown and Ameia had another baby about 2 years ago....she was/is a perfect monkey mom. She raised Brio and Dario to be healthy monkeys. She was sterilized right after her last baby. I haven't seen much about her since, but I fear she is either living a lonely life or maybe not living at all. She was shunned by other monkeys, her babies were her only physical contact with other monkeys except during mating.
It is a well demarcated hole, deep. the bones in the skull of this baby are not too thick so I believe there is bone loss there. it seems a fall on his head against a pointy rock that penetrated deep taking tissue and pieces of bone. now he seems well alert, and moving, and well coordinated.
That mom constantly following her and being mean to her needs whapped! Little baby wants some corn and that’s mommas favorite. The closer you get might also draw more attention to her from other monkeys.
Looks like he was hit on his head with a sharp object. Wow, this mom's tuff, she jugles 2 active baby's and can't eat in peace. She too looks like she was hurt, like they tried to "tear" her mouth apart. Hat's off to this mom!
Poor little angel. At that age their skulls are soft not fully formed (they are so similar to us) and I hope it don't get too far. Momma will keep it clean. Its amazing how they con survive horrific wounds due to the constant grooming.... Some humans have yet to figure that out. 🙄🤦🏼♀️
is there any update on the hair lipped mother monkey with 2 babies? I would like to know if the baby with the hole in the head is doing better. Thank you very much
Awwwwww she loves her 💘 corn 🌽 😋baby wanted some to cute 😍 awwwww I see baby boy head is hurt wow tht was some hole in his head am gald he is ok tho.... I knw these old but am binge watching 👀 😅 lol thanks JW 😊
I noticed that she kept pulling her hands away when the babies would try to get a bite of bananas or corn. Is this because they are too young to eat solid food? I kept watching and. not once did they get a bite She is amazing how tender she is when she moving around with both babies. All and all she is good mom, it looks like she's keeping that wound clean and that is crucial to her baby's survival. Please keep us updated.. 💜🌸💜
Macaques have a feeding heirarchy. Babies eat LAST. They are getting milk, so it isn't necessary for them to eat solids yet. They are also HIGHLY competitive when it comes to food. Not honoring this heirarchy, is an offense which CAN be punishable by DEATH. It is necessary for her to teach this to her offspring early. For them to eat out of turn, ESPECIALLY in front of a higher ranking monkey can cause their death and for mom to be HARSHLY punished for not doing so. They aren't the smartest, imho, but they DO have a complex social order.
@@breshannondevereaux7725 Thank you for all the info, I did know about the hierarchy but for some reason, my brain didn't connect that bit of info. I'm going with the excuse that the injured baby had all my attention. lol but really thank you, it was very kind the way you answered my question nothing snotty and no sarcasm. 💜🌸💜
@@tucsonvic4105 Thank you for YOUR response and genuine appreciation of the info. They're NOT my favorite animal, but I've had ALOT of experience with them over the years. I learn more and more every day. I appreciate those who wish to expand their understanding of the world around them. People like you are an endangered species!
poor baby, I hope it heals well and it's covered. I can see bit marks on the other side too. It looks like some monkey had bite his head and broke his skull.
The bright orange one is her baby because JW saw her with that baby first. He doesn't know what happened to the other Mum. Maybe she abandoned her baby or was sick or died.
The mom in the WLA WOODS REserve, she let her 2 babies, eat with her, but they very seldom got hands out, she taught her babies to live off the land. These babies only see that mom has food. They need to be handed something to, with her nursing 2 babies it would help if they could eat.
They would be attacked. People like you are the reason those in Cambodia are so messed up. Baboes are punished eating out if turn. Foodnbelings to adults. Qhen humans interfer it causes aggressions. Teacjs babies to not follownrules. Eventually troop will kill them ifnthey don't follow rules. And that means don't take the food offered by humans.
They may be different types of monkeys. The monkeys in Cambodia that most people watch exclusively (the Long-tailed Macaques) will not share food, even with their baby. They will take it from baby, make it regurgitate the food, even some will dig it from their mouth. Other types of monkeys such as Rhesus and Pigtail Macaques are more gentle, certainly less violent when it comes to their own baby and food. Another factor is that the WLA Mom and babies aren't being handed food like those Temple monkeys are. The WLA reserve encourages foraging and they are living in a natural habitat. The Temple monkeys are at times living on tile floors, man-made buildings and there is very little that is natural about any of it. It is actually very good that Mom has taught her babies so well. This will help insure a long life (although there are certainly no guarantees). They don't appear to have missed any meals. She is doing a very good job with them.
@@kiki29073 if they have food when mom has food and eats next to her, they are ok, but they can't be handed food by themselves as some VO'S hand feed them. She must not be of a lower rank or she couldn't be part of the first ones to get food. These babies are of the age that they need to start eating, she isn't a mom that shares. The baby with the hurt head must of tried to eat food that was in front of an adult and got bit. She is holding her babies when she gets food, if something they can hold is put in babies hands when she gets food, they would be safe. Not saying she wouldn't take the food away. But she can't eat it all at once. And the female at WLA mostly they don't feed the monkeys in the woods. Only special needs that are at their compound. The guy that was filming, did this on his own , his free time from work. He also at times brought her food, she had gotten real skinny. This breed of monkeys, is very rare to have twins. But despite what some say. There is caring loving females that will take in some other's baby and raise with theirs and raise it as their own. It is a baby from their group, mostly a close relatives, like mom, aunt, sister's baby. Also there is ones of long tail that do share their food. Even bringing food from their pouch and baby eats it from her mouth. There also Resses Macaques that don't share food and takes food out of their babies pouch and eats it. They all have different personalities, and some let their babies eat with them others don't in both of these breeds.
@@kiki29073 yes, I have always said that , of both breeds, mostly these men are feeding them ,out of their hand not giving the troop any. If the mother is holding her baby, and if each herself and baby, were handed food at the same time, according to their rank and when it is their turn for food, the baby eats with mom, all the other monkeys are eating. Then baby will not get hurt. If baby runs up to an adult or even a young monkey of higher rank and grabs food that is around the older, + higher rank. It will be hurt. The parent is the one that trains her baby. The baby is expected to run from people, not except food from them, stay by mom, these men even pick them up and feed them in front of the group. They know these babies are going to be beat up. They watch them get hurt. They even do it the next day with baby with bruises all over face and bit marks. They don't care. And baby is hungry. It is after they eat, they get beat. Their moms are not taking care of them. She should grab her baby and get it away from him. Even Resses babies are done the same way. Not in the areas of Honk Kong. But in other countries. And if that remark is made to me about people like you, is why Cambodia is like it is. You are the one that needs to do research, I am no way in agreement with Cambodia and those monsters the Vo's run things. Or the corrupt officers, forest service, or the government.
OMGosh.... I hope these two sweet babies both make it! Such a sweet mother to continue to care for them both. As the babies grow it will be harder and harder for her to carry and keep them both near her. Thank you JW for updates on them. You and Arroz are the only monkey channels I watch..... keep up the good work.
Just my opinion but a wound so deep had to be something sharp like a tooth. A fall is less likely to cut through so deep. My guess is Mum did something wrong and he just happened to catch the brunt of her punishment with his head in the way.
If he fell from high on something sharp it could have cause that. However, I think Mum has wounds on her back that she was touching so it could have been a monkey fight like you said.
Vanessa G I didn’t notice mums but that makes sense now. The adults do not typically attack the babies with intent to injure them. Hope whoever it was felt ashamed for it. That’s a nasty wound. They heal better than humans though so I think baby will be ok.
lol Brio would rather have the sweet corn instead of the milk @ 7:47. And Dario prefers moms milk over the food. Poor thing. Must have been one nasty fight for mom and baby to be injured.
This is where I don’t blame the mothers for kicking little babies off of her food! She needs that for all the milk they be constantly nursing from her!
