Nice review, I liked how you showed the interior while sailing. Very quiet inside under sail. Wonderful sailboat, I love the solid safety railing all around the boat.
Hi Alexandru Maioru. We run extensive reviews in the magazine each month. This month it's the British-built Rustler 37 chelseamagazines.com/Sailing-Today. See the February 2015 issue for the Amel 55 test
Emma Bamford Hi, Emma. I'm a long-time subscriber. I stay by my comments: I like the introductory presentation/review - I just miss the "testing" part. Being aboard the Titanic or on an A380 does not really means you were testing its sinking/flight capabilities, though. ;-)
Have a look at Elley Grey a grp St Malo pilot cutter replica from 1896 delivered in 2012 with more features and better equiped for a lot less money vat payed .
good vid ,But !! it just amazes me how many of these presenters on RU-vid do boat reviews and find it perfectly acceptable to show millions of viewers between them that its perfectly safe, no matter how far from land you are, to go onto the bathing platform whilst under way without any life-preserver or being connected to the vessel in any way, even holding on to a cleat is in no way going to hold you to the vessel,it may be calm but even the wake of another boat would of had this poor soul treading water in the big salty in a split second, then its MOB shout out and a rescue mission ,when all that was needed was to show the platform or any other points they would like to show that are over the sides in the harbour ,im sure the viewers wouldn`t mind and emphasizes abit of safety.
There's no requirement for anyone in the UK yachting press to have the ability to pass an IQ test or even any sailing experience. All that's required is the right school and the right parental connections. I mean, does your boat have windows? No mention of Amel switching away from their own furlers to Reckman's or anything else that might be of interest. Managed to get the coffee machine in though. Probably the only thing he recognized.
I was going to post the exact same thing. People have been single handing Super Maramu's with the same setup for decades. You simply let the line off the winch self-tailer, take a wrap off and then hold on to and release as necessary the bitter end as you activate the electric furler. You can do this from the comfort of the Captain's Chair so no worries. On the main, you have two fingers, so push the main outhaul and main furler switches at the same time (in the same manner as you do to bring it out). On the Mizzen, it is just as easy... wind two winch cranks at same time that were designed to be operated by one person. They are big boats so an extra person is helpful around the dock but it was designed so that a retired housewife that can lift a bag of groceries could single hand it so his comment was a bit off putting.
