Thanks man yes the video was my own kick. Had the MPC2000 idling around for some months already but showing this to my audience really helps me to dig into the stuff. Regarding the 1K is see it as the holy grail of the oldskool-type of MPCs. Because it seems to have everything already integrated that I would have to upgrade for quite a lot of money (fx board, direct outs). Hence, go for it!
@@MarcRenton Done deal, nice weather means it’s perfect time to take the MPC out on the deck and jam for a bit! Thanks for the inspiration :) Also, I’ll have to go back through your channel uploads to see if you’ve covered it, but I’d love to get any insight you might have on chopping Amen (or really, any break) sampled from the original source and getting it to sound good. I have no problem chopping from an “amen pack” but for some reason I just can’t get it sound “right” when I sample directly from the original record. Most tutorials I come across are chopping an already-processed Amen, so that bit of info would be a goldmine if you have any knowledge you can share with the world :)
@@MarcRenton I learned a little bit from Your technique and tried it on the Mpc one thanks ! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-19fcmmz2erw.htmlsi=rhp7rHkw8gbPbNyQ
:-D It took me a while, too. However, what is even worse is that more modern tools are more intuitive. On the other hand, one could see this as a challenge and creative way for producing. I still haven't made up my own opinion on that.
I love seeing the MPC2000 OG put to work and have musicians as yourself push the limits of what can be done on the particular model. Great track. Any chance that you can show us the lamp(s) that you have attached to it? Been looking for one myself. Thank you.
Thanks for the nice words! Lamp: www.amazon.de/gp/product/B08DJ636GR also I have two other LED-panel lamps. On top of the MPC you only see the iPhone-goose neck.
Take my Spotify-playlist as an entry point into your Atmospheric Drum & Bass-journey: open.spotify.com/playlist/4a320WtDhtlC7aLozs5N7o and also check out my own songs released under my pseudonym Marc Renton 😎
Hey Mark thanks for the awesome video and track! Inspiring! I was wondering if you have a key in mind when you're making stuff like this. I'm trying learn to make music, and I'm not sure if dnb/Jungle should be in a specific key, or any key at all. Thanks man!
TLDR: PAs used to have an average size and their subwoofers resonated the best on an F-sub bassline. Thanks for the comment, really a great one! I see you're judging this from a music theoretical POV rather than from a practical one. And I believe there is no real stake in the musical-side to be honest. However, some folks, including me, would have suggested you something around f-g'ish in the past. And there is some physics behind this: In the past, most PAs seemed to be of a "generic" size. I was building subwoofers and loudspeakers in my teens so believe me: You always have some main-resonace-frequencies in speakers, especially DYI and not studio monitor-level PAs. However, I challenged that one two years back on a convincing PA when i tested my back-then Live-setup and I taught me to be wrong. A C-based bassline was as loud as a F-bassline, with the same amount of dB. Another thing I learned myself for "the Marc Renton sound" if you listen carefully: I avoid chord-progressions (exceptions exist!) which is interpretation of Minimalism to strengthen other elements.
Hey man! A little late to this video, and hoping you'll see this comment, but which mount / stand is that you're using for your mpc? I've been using one of those wheeled stands and I've been looking for something like this for years
Hey Sleepjuice, First of all it is never to late for any comment because I'm reading all the comments I get and really appreciate any interaction that my videos produce ; ) I totally understand your desire for such stand but the answer is pretty simple: It is nothing more than a music-stand (for scores / notes) made out of metal that I bought some years ago in Aldi. But because of the MPC's heavy weight I added some extra holes with my Dremel so that I can support the joints with cable ties. As a result the music-stand can hold the MPC and it fits PERFECTLY my ergonomic expectations when using the MPC :-) BTW you remind me I should do a video on the other DYI-stands I built over the years (wood, 3d printed stuff...)!!
@@MarcRenton I would have never thought to use a sheet/score stand! That's a really good idea, man! I might have a weekend project ahead of me, ha. Would be awesome to see those custom builds! cheers!
Without any hate inhave to say max Ram in the mpc 2 k =32mb. So it isnt possible to load a gigabyte into the ram. Anyway very nice Video with lot of Knowledge. Big up!!
No not everything. If you can decide you should think about mono or stereo, what makes sense the most in your case. In the past the available space was more the concern, but having an sd-card/scsi-replacement removes this constraint.
@@MarcRenton it looks utterly beautiful, I love Germany but have only ever stayed in Frankfurt and Berlin, I did drive thru koln which was nice though, fantastic place to live
@@devondetroit2529 Oh wait a second I should have seen your question in context of this video :D I'm located in Munich. But the video I shot at my parent's house which is in Austria, Carinthia. The mountains you see are the Karawanken which is the border to Slovenia. And if you move a little bit to the right there's the Italian border already. Where are you located? I assume Detroit? :)
@@MarcRenton I see, Nah mate im in Devon UK.. Its the panning 360 roof shots I was mainly talking about, I never knew it was quite as leafy and green.. Like the garden of Eden! Places in Devon are equally nice but I have rarely seen places like that looking over there, very nice dude
