Good morning from the UK. I met Professor Joanne Fletcher a few years ago.She was so approachable we chatted about this subject for a while .She is delightful.
I love her too - she holds me spellbound with her knowledge and her wonderful glowing and warm voice. She loves her subject and shows this in the way she passes and imparts her knowledge you can hear the love and fascination she has for her subject with every word. Please keep giving us her recordings .
The average height of the ancient Egyptians, including the Pharaohs was about 5'6" for the men, and 5' 2" for the women. Amenhotep was estimated to be about 5' 5".
I was once a follower of Professor Fletcher, but not anymore. She's gotten into trouble more than once with Egyptian officials about her misinformation, and at one point she was caught plagiarizing the work of famous French Egyptologist Auguste Mariette.
She brings the Egyptian world alive! No dry and dusty history from her but a vibrant living world a colourful buzzing true life for us all to breathe in and become one with the Egyptian people and their Gods - wonderful wonderful historical stories. There are never enough stories. Beautiful wonderful gifts of love.
OH MY GOD THIS JUST CAME OUT?!? I feel so honored! Love Professor Fletcher 😍😍😍 she makes Egyptian monuments and history so much more interesting than it’s ever been to me before.
Thank you so much! This is lifechanging if youre open to it. It took me a very long time to get to that point. Years of opiates and addiction . I AM SAFE.
Whoever was the video editor seemed to hold no respect for people's attention span. The constantly changing visual shots allows for little chance to appreciate what is being shown.
These were called "The Singing Colossi Of Memnon" once upon a time. They were called that because long ago, as the Sun rose, the massive stone statues seemed to "sing" as the warmth of the Sun caused the spreading of cracks in the stone to make a squealing sound as the Mighty God Ra rose higher in the sky. The colossal images were moved in the early 20th Century, and the change in location caused the "singing" to cease.
Amenhotep III the great African king. His massive statues was called the Colossi of Memnon in reference to his looks by the ancient Greaco-Romans. Memnon was the legendary Aethiopian king and hero of the Trojan war.
The depth of this content is remarkable. A book with related subject matter inspired a significant life shift. "Temporal Echoes: Amelia's Odyssey Through Ancestral Shadows" by Vivian Rosewood
Maybe we the watchers know more about Egypt than the actual experts😅. Would they dig us up if we lived in the ancient world and be so called fascinated over us😮
I'm influenced by this content. A similar book I read laid the groundwork for immense personal growth. "Temporal Echoes: Amelia's Odyssey Through Ancestral Shadows" by Vivian Rosewood
AIII and Tiye started the focus on the Aten. AIV then took it to heart and caused a massive disaster. AIII did to Egypt what King John did to England. Thutmose III would have been enraged. AIII had inherited wealth and failed to effectively rule.
I love what she does . And I always learn something . But She skips a lot of crucial information to make her case ___for the great decline . Which is distressing. For instance __ "In 1177 B.C., during the reign of Rameses 111 , marauding groups known only as the "Sea Peoples" invaded Egypt. -we can view their names and faces carved on the walls of Ramses III’s mortuary temple at Medinet Habu. In a fierce battle on the banks of the Nile , pharaoh's army and navy managed to defeat them, but the victory so weakened Egypt that it soon slid into decline, as did most of the surrounding civilizations. After centuries of brilliance, the civilized world of the Bronze Age came to an abrupt and cataclysmic end. Kingdoms fell like dominoes over the course of just a few decades. No more Minoans or Mycenaeans. No more Trojans, Hittites, or Babylonians. The thriving economy and cultures of the late second millennium B.C., which had stretched from Greece to Egypt and Mesopotamia, suddenly ceased to exist, along with writing systems, technology, and monumental architecture. But the Sea Peoples alone could not have caused such widespread breakdown. How did it happen? __the end was brought about by multiple interconnected failures, ranging from invasion and revolt to earthquakes, drought, and the cutting of international trade routes." There is a bigger more balanced story here about the big "Why" .
Looks like an unfinished head of a white man. What happen to his lips, and they got to finish the neck before adding his eyes? Did the wind push it on one side of its face? Did you say the sculpture was how old ???????
Sure Jan. Maybe you can teach the Egyptologists correct pronunciation from your time period then, and provide answers to all the unsolved historical questions. Looking forward to seeing how your answers hold up to scrutiny by scholars.
Pharaohs: Ruthless rulers who suppressed his people and pretended as god. He created towers, pyramids and towering palaces and temples only to mystify his claim as god. But he was ruined to death and only remembered only as history. surah Ghafir(40:21) Have they not journeyed in the land that they might observe the end of those who came before them? d. Then Allah seized them because of their sins and they had none who could protect them from Allah. 23 And indeed We sent Musa with Our Ayat, and a manifest authority, 24. To Fir`awn, Haman and Qarun, but they called (him): “A sorcerer, a liar!” . 25. Then, when he came to them with the truth from Us, they said,
What a joke... Ancient Egyptian dna is haplogroup H & modern Egyptian dna is haplogroup h too... THAT should tell you something & it isn't rocket science...
@@nunyadambusiness6902 DNA between Ancient and modern is not same . modern DNA is close to African Black people. But Ancient is close to people around Israel.
Viewers should NOT accept the CHRONOLOGICAL references as absolute. The supersized statues ARE NOT 'new kingdom' re their origins. THEY existed long before the age of Amenhotep. To claim their were of him or of his construction is a fallacy. Many of the 'relics' and more left behind by the 'ancients' who existed over 800,000 years before the new kingdom /latter day Egyptians, wiped out in the cataclysmic events that saw global decimation on a scale that wiped out whole civilisations; left later civilisations taking over, reusing, destroying and claiming such artefacts etc to be theirs when as many have since discovered; they were NOT. A love of Ancient Egypt and being an 'archaeologist' is NOT a given re TRUTH. Much of the early historical / chronological detail re Egypt is either wildly inaccurate or complete and utter nonsensical FICTION.
@@Oddball5.0 'Faceless'.. unlike those who expose the TRUTH for what it is and NOT the garbage we have had to endure for decades .. we are treated to the 'FACELESS' archaeologist attempting to assert HIS opinion .. NOT alone re being 'FACELESS' as I suspect SO many who have given us the bull crap institutional paid for spawned rhetoric that has NOW been shown for what it is.. BULL CRAP RHETORIC.
