The average height of the ancient Egyptians, including the Pharaohs was about 5'6" for the men, and 5' 2" for the women. Amenhotep was estimated to be about 5' 5".

I was once a follower of Professor Fletcher, but not anymore. She's gotten into trouble more than once with Egyptian officials about her misinformation, and at one point she was caught plagiarizing the work of famous French Egyptologist Auguste Mariette.

Whoever was the video editor seemed to hold no respect for people's attention span. The constantly changing visual shots allows for little chance to appreciate what is being shown.

These were called "The Singing Colossi Of Memnon" once upon a time. They were called that because long ago, as the Sun rose, the massive stone statues seemed to "sing" as the warmth of the Sun caused the spreading of cracks in the stone to make a squealing sound as the Mighty God Ra rose higher in the sky. The colossal images were moved in the early 20th Century, and the change in location caused the "singing" to cease.

AIII and Tiye started the focus on the Aten. AIV then took it to heart and caused a massive disaster. AIII did to Egypt what King John did to England. Thutmose III would have been enraged. AIII had inherited wealth and failed to effectively rule.

Rameses the third.
@johnhastings462
@johnhastings462 Год назад
I love what she does . And I always learn something . But She skips a lot of crucial information to make her case ___for the great decline . Which is distressing. For instance __ "In 1177 B.C., during the reign of Rameses 111 , marauding groups known only as the "Sea Peoples" invaded Egypt. -we can view their names and faces carved on the walls of Ramses III’s mortuary temple at Medinet Habu. In a fierce battle on the banks of the Nile , pharaoh's army and navy managed to defeat them, but the victory so weakened Egypt that it soon slid into decline, as did most of the surrounding civilizations. After centuries of brilliance, the civilized world of the Bronze Age came to an abrupt and cataclysmic end. Kingdoms fell like dominoes over the course of just a few decades. No more Minoans or Mycenaeans. No more Trojans, Hittites, or Babylonians. The thriving economy and cultures of the late second millennium B.C., which had stretched from Greece to Egypt and Mesopotamia, suddenly ceased to exist, along with writing systems, technology, and monumental architecture. But the Sea Peoples alone could not have caused such widespread breakdown. How did it happen? __the end was brought about by multiple interconnected failures, ranging from invasion and revolt to earthquakes, drought, and the cutting of international trade routes." There is a bigger more balanced story here about the big "Why" .

Looks like an unfinished head of a white man. What happen to his lips, and they got to finish the neck before adding his eyes? Did the wind push it on one side of its face? Did you say the sculpture was how old ???????

Pharaohs: Ruthless rulers who suppressed his people and pretended as god. He created towers, pyramids and towering palaces and temples only to mystify his claim as god. But he was ruined to death and only remembered only as history. surah Ghafir(40:21) Have they not journeyed in the land that they might observe the end of those who came before them? d. Then Allah seized them because of their sins and they had none who could protect them from Allah. 23 And indeed We sent Musa with Our Ayat, and a manifest authority, 24. To Fir`awn, Haman and Qarun, but they called (him): “A sorcerer, a liar!” . 25. Then, when he came to them with the truth from Us, they said,

Viewers should NOT accept the CHRONOLOGICAL references as absolute. The supersized statues ARE NOT 'new kingdom' re their origins. THEY existed long before the age of Amenhotep. To claim their were of him or of his construction is a fallacy. Many of the 'relics' and more left behind by the 'ancients' who existed over 800,000 years before the new kingdom /latter day Egyptians, wiped out in the cataclysmic events that saw global decimation on a scale that wiped out whole civilisations; left later civilisations taking over, reusing, destroying and claiming such artefacts etc to be theirs when as many have since discovered; they were NOT. A love of Ancient Egypt and being an 'archaeologist' is NOT a given re TRUTH. Much of the early historical / chronological detail re Egypt is either wildly inaccurate or complete and utter nonsensical FICTION.
