Sir Sheldon. You said it all. Music is Spirit & the choice of language is irrelevant. After English is a borrowed language. By the way, Youssou N'dour from Senegal sings in Wollof. This guy is able to fill stadiums & auditoriums all over the world. I pray that some of us will abandon this colonial mentality.
We should stop this idea that English is a borrowed language and for that we won't do well to explore it to our advantage but rather stick to our Twi. This is why Ghanaian music is only confined to only Ghanaians both home and abroad. Nigerians have been able to explore the English language by mixing it with pidgin and their local dialect so the non-Nigerian can have an idea about what the artist is talking about. This is why Nigerian music dominates the Ghanaian airwaves for years.
Please with all due respect, it appears you missed my point. Suffice it to say: whether it is French, German, English or Twi Rap or Song. Music is a Spirit & language or formula does not matter. We listen to Hispanic rap etc without malice. There are 195 countries in world, they don't all rap & sing in English. Does their music cut across the Globe? The answer is YES! Again, enough of the Colonial mentality.

People in Spanish speaking countries can cut across because they have a global Spanish speaking audience like in the US, Spanish is the 2nd most spoken language after English. South America is predominantly Spanish and obviously there's gonna that spill over effect into other non Spanish speaking countries especially with the song being a hit. Same applies to French and other Latin dominated languages across the globe. There are dynamics to this. It's not just about music being a spirit! How many countries out speak Twi? Aside from Ghanaians living abroad which is a miniscule number. I'm all for all Gh music to the world. Look at black sheriff as a case study. The kid is mainly singing in English. Sarkodie at some point had to mix up some English with his Twi raps in conjunction with his amazing flow.
Why must this come from you? Twi is local and subjected to only Ghanaians. Some Ghanaians that were born outside listen to our music but most don't understand the language so in simple a short there are more people speaking English worldwide than twi so if you claim you rap in English and therefore u are international then you must have a lot of people to resonate with your flow....
