Whats better, 0-100 the Wine or exhaust sound... MY GOD OFTTTTTT, This is a 10/10, The day will come, the way you Channel is growing, You will get to drive a GTSR W1, But this one will be more fun.
What a beast mark...what exact exhaust system is on it pls from headers to cats etc please detail it as its the tuffest sounding Holden ive ever heard.😎💥💨🙌
@@richardmano194 its running a 1" 7/8 stainless long tube headers difilipo.....the exhaust is a twin 3" stainless Difilipo...called (Big boy exhaust ) that come with difilipo high flow cats and mufflers....from diff back its custom made by MPW to fit properly around the large diff housing that gts run....there is a section in the exhaust that is 4" ...that what helps with the deap note....last 2 cars I've had I used Difilipo...unfortunately difilipo ant around anymore...another company took over....not sure if the quality is the same....
I've got a stock 2017 HSV LSA Clubby R8. Had it since brand new in December 2017. I freaking love it. Its my daily. Nearly hitting 80,000 kilometres. No accidents, not 1 issue really.
@@petezappa8748 True, Ford finally got it right with the charged Coyote. Was a little too late though. It was funny that many fans I spoke to didn't even know Ford stopped manufacturing the V8 range in 09 till the Coyote. Shows how the Barra was preferred choice while the only V8 sales in that time was stock sitting in show rooms. Doesn't surprise me though as Ford fans are usually all about the Barra and Holden fans wanted their V8. Can't go wrong with either in hindsight.
I've got a 2015 manual with similar mods, cnc ported heads as well ,it makes 520kw at the wheels and spins the rears in 5th gear when your on it and supercharger is putting out 15psi and wails like a banshee. Missus hates it because it's like sitting in a rocking chair at idle cause of the cam. Mostly lives in the shed these days.
Hello Ross great review of the GTS. I agree that it is one of the best cars you have reviewed. The owner has done a really job keeping its factory look while doing some good work to the motor. The supercharger and exhaust sound really good. Keep up the good work.
I’m a ford fan through and through but damn these VFs have totally won me. I own an FG and a BA and these things (even the base SV6 models) just blow them completely out of the water in essentially every aspect. Still such a shame we don’t get to see what the future may have held for both parties. I’ll have my XA forever though!
I love the VF, the GTS is the pinnacle of the range of cars you can buy, the w1 is collectors only now. The fact they used a 9.5" diff, gearbox, clutch etc that pass warranty with no issues at all with 430kw always amazed me considering older HSVs blowing diffs up easily etc.
the VF had to grow on me it didnt look like a commodore just like the ve but with all the tech and features HSV has done with the VF throwing in a 10"* diff and a full driveline to handle 1000hp and the factory exhaust is capable to handle 600HP that HSV claimed and that went for (GTS,GTS-R and GTS-R W1) but someone made just over 1200rwhp still on factory driveline and nothing has happened and is a 8 second sleeper. personally wouldnt waste my money on the W1, HSV bought the last of the LS9's, parts are hard to get, there isnt much difference detween the GTS-R and the GTS-R W1 ( dry sump engine, suspension, rims, badge, stitching on the headrests and on the silver plate where the shifter is instead of GTS-R) not much main thing is the engine badging i prefer wet sump over dry anyday because of maintainence costs and dry sump cannot be cheap especcially when they be hard to get been in the GTS and been in and driven the LSA GTS-R they are lovely to drive, first hour of driving one kills your foot because its spring loaded for the "race car feel" easy to handle with a little kick out of the corner 6 pot brakes all round work well dont need much pressure to slow down from 200 to 60 and its really smooth... there was one night the owner had me in the passenger seat nice cold night 9c to be exact took off 1.31G off clock 18 seconds and no slip and the that GTS-R is a total virgin no tune no exhaust not even an k&n filter still the paper genuine ones just shows what they have done now thats parked up reached 35xxxkms just bought a 700hp VF GTS now that is just something
Supercharging is definitely the way to go on these motors . I put one on my VE and as you said the driveability is awesome if you just want to idle around but put the foot down and instant power and does not destroy fuel economy !
Same with mine, as long as you don't floor it all day long you'll get 10L/100km on the highway due to the bypass. Plus it's a simple bolt on kit, get a good tune and you're away. Super fun overtaking road trains I gotta say 😜
Australia was so close to getting the CTSV when Holden was going out. But GM with their infinite wisdom decided to bring the C8 down under instead, which costs almost 3x as much as a gen F GTS. Real shame because I think the third gen CTS is one of the nicest looking American cars produced.
@@CurtisLSA 100% agree to that . i work as a Holden mechanic and worked on a modified GTS manual likely similar spec to this one, taking it down a back alley on my road test was the quickest ive taken down there, and i've driven a 996 Porsche 911 Turbo down the same stretch at a slower speed, not familiar with the car and was easily in the low 5's high 4 sec 0 - 100.
Im Looking at getting a white or black 2014 vf gts 6spd at the moment. Just waiting for the right car to come up within my budget and kilometres.. it will be the last holden that il ever be buying. Owned a few currently have a blown vz clubsport. Im planning to do exactly what this guy has done but not going with a cam tho. Cannot wait it will be used purely for sunday car cruising and special occasions..
I wish we would have received the HSV in the states. But I still got my hands on the chevy ss/holden commodore VF and slapped a LSA on it. So much fun to drive and sure does break necks when I take it out.
met the owner of this a car show the other week, super nice guy and an incredible build, really wish i had half an idea of what good cars were when i was buying my first car i for sure wouldve snagged me one of these and just stored it whilst driving a shitbox until my p's were over.great review as always ross and i hope your neck is still intact after this video ;)
@@markblackwell7927 i mean its no gts but shes still a fun little camry hunter ;) ill have to see if old mate ross is interested in doing another review when the build is finished
@@markblackwell7927 just hope traction decides to be on my side then it really will be fun, i really do love your gts ive only ever been in stock ls3 hsvs and one ls7 ve ss ive never quite experienced 700+ hp i bet the feeling is incredible
theres a VYSS gettin round Dandenong Melbourne with VFGTS LSA running gear front to back ,the exterior is just sting red vyss exactly as it left the factory, spoke to the fella at 7/11 early morning on way to work ,Stout Auto sticker on rear glass
What a package.. that American motor sure can pull.. the sound tho👌.. there’s only a few holdens id own and this might be on the list now.. on point review.. owners done very well
Certainly becoming a very sought after car… 2013 models with close to 100,000 on the clock are going for 90k. And for good reason! Not only is the gen f gts the last of its kind. It would have to be the best car holden has ever made! Even to this day, still a very quick and competitive vehicle
Haha traction was definitely against you, I’ve got the exact same car and exact same mods, factory I tested my car at 5 seconds on my dragy(hsv quote 4.4) I’ve yet to test it again but with 200ish extra rwkw I’m sure if you can get it to hook up it’s going to do a hell of a lot better
@@GrechiemanHey Mate ...look forward to catching up with you on Friday....should be a great day....I think this collaboration will be very popular......look forward to seeing and hearing your car in person....thanks Mark TUFGNF
@@markblackwell7927 hey dude I responded last night but I think it was deleted or something. I can’t wait either brother should be a good one! Your car is the ultimate beast so it might be a one sided comparison! See you soon man!
It sounds like a E55 on steroids. These 500rwkw ls3s are the top of the food chain. Guy at work has a 2012 Maloo ute with 500rwkw he said nothing can keep up with it
Unfortunately ford didn’t have the money and budget to go all out with the gtf and the fgx, you can see just from the interior of the gts the difference is money spent
@@RossReviewsau Agreed buddy, I will gracefully take my hat off to this car, although i think it still would be cool to do a comparo next time you are down in Melb :) let me know if you are interested haha
The logic of extrapolation doesn’t work like that. More power means more wheel spin and slower times. The only exception to this is using warmed up drag radials on a prepped strip - otherwise you get slower than the factory (highly optimistic) time. No HSV that Ross has tested (and he’s tested a lot) has got better than 5.18secs. He’s tested over 40 Commodores and only two got into the four sec range and that one was running drag radials and a drag set up.
I love this car as well Johnny,It's a big call to say out of all the cars this is probably the best car you've ever driven but I can clearly see why buddy, all round there's nothing to fault it's virtually perfect bro,if I could just win the lotto I'd buy one & have it near identical lol, she's an animal & we wouldn't want her any other way yeah haha, you're a legend mate best Aussie car review channel hands down 🏆👍
Hi Ross What a Bitching Ride. Sad They no longer make these No More./ Just Sold my HSV / VXR8 in UK. 4 a Audi RS 4 . Parts 4 the HSV is getting Hard 2 get Over Here . Great Vid .Cheers M8
For such a good motor damn their ugly, the motor that is hence why I keep the cover on my 6litre. Me thinks Ross almost likes this more then his f6. 👍🇦🇺🍻
This just shits on all those f6's, gt's cars made by fpv. This is quicker than all of them, looks better, the interior is worlds apart and just overall the better car. Fpv is the poor version of hsv lol. Not even comparable if anything, what does fpv have at all against hsv? All their motors don't compete with lsa's. Hsv for the win by a mioe for sure, great car
@@nzmarco bruh hsv were probably one of the best bang for buck muscle car, I like the falcons just as much but the interior is shit and the engines weren't as powerful
@@vaughanhodgson nah to mod a f6 to make the same power as this car in the vid itlk take a lot. It'll cost a shit tonne too lol. Plus a stock barra won't be able to handle this power whereas this lsa takes it all day.
They have dropped by like 50 grand since covid you can get em for like 90 grand know. There still expensive but not as they were before. Yes they were like 140 but seriously who was buying em at that price.
Hope you drove the shit outta this Ross. As stupid and impractical as these are to own, christ do they stand out on the road. Holden really nailed the design of this HSV and it's anything but subtle!
