Here's my take on America's Best and Zenni... I always wish that I could actually wear the type of glasses they advertise. Glasses are always expensive no matter where I shop :)
I have prescriptions for reading, computer, and distance, and I get them as three pairs of single-vision. But I also went to America's Best to get my PD (reading glasses are PD minus three, the optician used a calculator for that). With single-vision it was a good deal and helpful to get the PD and order online, but now I can go to Zenni or Payne for everything. I only want reflection coating on the computer lenses, and that's only an extra $6. I got an extra pair of distance glasses with a 50% yellow tint for reducing headlight glare while driving at night. I got a small pair of reading glasses to keep next to the bed for $10.
Was quoted $631 for two pair of the best transition lens at Americas best. Went to Zenni and bought the best lens they had with EYEQlenz not Translons for $140.
I paid over 500 for just one pair at America’s best because it was almost 800 for two 😢 I have a strong prescription. And I like nice frames. But been also ordering from zenni for back ups and I paid 78 dls for a pair and I got the best I could get in the lenses. And I love how much thinner and lighter they are than my “fancy ones”. So yeah, I’ll keep odering from zenni 🎉
America's best is only worth getting the eye exam if you need one and don't have insurance. As $60 is a fair price. Just don't tell them your not buying glasses or they might not do it, or not do it right
