Lived in Northern Minnesota for years...now in Arizona. I kinda miss it..used to get all psyched up for the first winter storm. Wood stoves are common, heated garages, wood fired saunas, block heaters on cars, warm clothing, etc. All part of the lifestyle.
I absolutely LOVE! Minnesota and winters in Minnesota are the best in all of North America!..... I DON'T EVER see myself living anywhere else on earth.... Except maybe the Antarctic...... Can't wait for the return of WINTER! In Minnesota My favorite season. 😎
Oh goodness! This reminds me of when I was in high school. Winter carnival week just before February vacation. Each high school class (9th - 12th grade) would be "provided" a giant snowbank on the front field of the school and we would work together with our classmates to build some sort of snow sculptures. It was fun. Our school was pretty small. I only had 29 people in my graduating class! So it was nice to see all the town's people driving by to check out the sculptures.
My husband has 3 sweater and 1 thick jacket and i wear 2 sweater and 24 hour heater full force when the weather hit 50 degree here, im so grateful living in california here, but i admire those people living there in the snow
@@donaldwilson3579 Hey now, lets try to show folks the midwest nice, she says she admires us, besides we couldn’t handle it when it gets as hot as it does down there.
@@Tektitictie I think that frostbite is the main thing that scares some people from that kind of cold. But it looks that it sure don't scare everyone, after seeing this video
I lived there a couple of years in the early 1960's. Winters are very, very cold, but if you dress for it you can survive. Unless you were born and raised there, you won't want to stay there very long. The two month summers are OK, but that's all you are going to get. I now live in Florida and I love it. Even the intense summer. Those in Minnesota who say it is too hot in Florida can stay in Minnesota. I have lived in Europe and Japan and in the north, south, east and west areas of the US. I know hot and I know cold and hot is better than cold.
Mel... greetings from a born and raised Minnesota person that now lives in Florida too. Mostly good memories but I'll take the warmth of Florida any day! 🙂
I'm with them. I like the cold. The morning back this February here in Kansas city when it went down to -14F I went out on my balcony and sat outside for a little while, I find the real cold like that kinda exhilarating. I told myself afterwards that I'd like to retire to Grand Forks, ND, Fairbanks AK, or somewhere in Canada 🇨🇦
I’ve lived in both international falls and Fairbanks Alaska and can say Fairbanks is much colder. I’ve seen it get to -50 on multiple occasions. Fairbanks is also really dark in the winter time.
The story presumed Continental US meant lower 48. Yes, technically it he state of Alaska and the city of Ffairbanks is on the North American Continent, however, I think most viewers got the point that International Falls is in the lower 48 states. Yes, Fairbanks is on average colder and has lower actual temperatures. The sun barely rises above the horizon for a couple of hours a day. When, I visited Fairbanks in one June there was 24/7 sunlight.
@@EdhellenCuar I've thought that Grand Forks ND was the very coldest town in the lower 48 states. But I guess I was close but slightly off since it's International falls MN
You don’t plug in the battery. The cars have a block heater which is a small heater coil in the oil pan that keeps the oil from gelling up so your car starts. You plug that in. If it’s around zero F or below the battery may not have enough cranking power to turn over the engine when the oil is too thick & may lose charge , especially if you try several times or the battery is old.. If that happens, you need to charge the battery which you do wth a battery charger that clamps on the battery posts. Again, no plug in batteries, plug in block heater.
She said so her battery doesnt die, she plugs the car in. If your car is to cold, you jump start your battery to start your car. The cold can and will drain your battery. I live her. Currently my car isnt starting, I do not have a block heater.
Yes a very nice forestry area around International Falls, but the town itself and downtown area are rusty industrial kinda polluted and old with no good services or good restaurants. You hear of it because of the ice box and severe cold. I wish they take care of it more.
International Falls schools close for snow days my school is 25 to 30 miles from my house I'm the first one on at 6:55AM and we don't take snow days and the falls school is like 1 or 2 miles away
Canadian wether isn’t much different from the northern states just cause people in Canada don’t live in the middle let alone the north of Canada, they generally live in the south near city’s like international falls
@@OfficialChrisW actually about 70% of Canada is colder than this place lol, cities like iqaluit feel colder than -50c many days of the year there are more than 60 days where it feelsncolder than -40c, and iqaluit isn't even close to being the coldest place in canada.
@@johonanandrewgomes7593 Not many Canadians live in places like Iqaluit. Most of them live in places like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, etc. Those places get cold but a lot of American towns are colder than those places. About the only city with a decent population in Canada that gets very cold is Winnipeg. Those very small, cold towns in northern Canada usually only have a few thousand people or less (and most of them are indigenous people who live there to get away from whites).
@@LoganCharlesII Iqaluit has over 2000 more people living their than international falls. Not to forget other places like, yellowknife which has almost 20000 people, thompson manitoba over 65000 people(trading population), prince albert SK, with over 35000 people, fort mc murray over 65000 people
@@SekiroNSkidmarks nah I agree with him these people are a bunch of shnaga tooth ass bitch made fucks that don't wanna work this town is full of bitches
@M Detlef places that are routinely that cold like Alaska, Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakotas use that kind of stuff to keep the fluids in their vehicles from freezing and to protect their battery, ensuring that their cars can start in such low temperatures.
Johonan andrew gomes well it’s not you fault the US is only Fahrenheit miles inches MM/DD/YYYY which growing up in the US I normal for me but weird for the world
Its so cold there because they are so close to the water. Jesus your making this seem like people have never dealt with this kind of weather. Crying out loud this is how the winters used to be in the north. Alberta and the rest of Canada. How stupid this video is.Makes me angry to say the least. Have you ever had to get up in the morning to light a fire so the rest of the house will be warm before everyone is awake at -40 inside the house..THIS ISNT THE ONLY PLACE IN THE NORTH THAT GETS COLD!!! BUT LETS SEEK ATTENTION JUST BECAUSE A BUNCH OF DUMMIES RUN IN THIS WEATHER. PEOPLE DONT REALIZE YOU CAN DAMAGE YOURLUNGS AND REALLY HURT YOURSELF IN THIS KIND OF WEATHER.
