Honestly, just having a place to go at the end of the day and be able to close and lock the door, have somewhere comfortable to sleep, have somewhere to use the bathroom, that is truly priceless. You don't realize the toll that homelessness takes on a person until you experience it. It's really the small things that wear on you over time.

The free hotel room didn't look bad at all. And two free meals.

Free roof over your head, power, bathroom, and meals this has got to be better than being on the street for sure. It’s good to know that there are programs out there like this.

Application fees should be fully refundable if you don't get the apartment. These apts. straight up stealing from people, & from people who can't afford it.

Some people are grateful for a roof over their head and that's what counts We all have stumbled I know I have.

from the looks of it this is an old motel 6. I was homeless for a couple years and motel hopped before living in my car. i actually got into a similar program that put me up in a motel(it was shady but it had a bed and runnung water) and now im in an apartment thanks to the same program. we need more resources like this.

What a gracious woman (seriously). Prayers that she will fully recover and get back on her feet.

Free of charge for a roof over your head and shower and toilet. And free breakfast plus dinner! This is surely a blessing from sleeping on the street. Wish this charity programme and help more and more people.✌️👏🏼👏🏼

this lady keeps her room her room very clean.......it seems nice to me.

One of my uncles lived (and ultimately died) in a place like this, he had made himself a community there and he helped out other residents by fixing broken stuff because he was a carpenter. I was grateful he had a place to live and a way to feel useful.

Thank you for being so kind to this woman. You showed her a lot of humanity and compassion that she probably doesn’t see often because of her situation.

I am an Uber driver. I picked up some people on NYE at the "Super". They said one can only do so much Super. They were happy people tho and tipped well. I find that people in South Tucson tip more than people in North.. cuz they understand the grind and how things are..

This looks like a good program. People aren't going to get back on their feet if they're living on the streets. There should be a monitor who lives there.

South Tucson is considered its own city separate from the City of Tucson. Which probably explains the disparity of the two cities.

A few years ago I heard about that program. It’s based on the fact that the city actually saves money by providing free shelter which cuts down on the homelessness, crime, and other problems. But based on what you show in your video, they still could do a lot better in fixing up the facility and creating good paying jobs so people can get on their feet.

She probably was evicted because her boyfriend wasn’t on the lease and with his felony charge, is what got them kicked out.

This actually looks fairly decent and the woman looks like she does an excellent job keeping her unit clean. I really hope things work out for her and her bf and can improve their lives with no more committing of crimes.

Just so people know… if you want someone to move in to your apartment you need to talk to your landlord first to get them listed on the lease or this could happen to you too. She failed to mention that. It sucks for sure. But don’t put yourself at risk of getting evicted over someone else. You need to protect yourself and read your lease bc I’m sure it states only tenants listed on lease are allowed to reside there. And don’t try that guest bs. It should state how long a guest is allowed as well Edit. Also never accept checks for payment on anything you sell.

Transitional/Temporary living is often rented by recovering addicts/alcoholics and recently released inmates. But I live in a transitional facility- and I’m a senior disabled woman who cannot get Section 8 - and affordable living apartments are very difficult to find in Los Angeles. It’s been a hellish experience because there’s no tenant accountability expected by the “management”…and the landlord gets away with operating a slum. It’s 3+ years in this horrible place; and my daily prayer has become: “Lord… please give me a long enough life - so I don’t die here.”

It’s good to know that there are still programs out there that will give the homeless an opportunity to put their lives together a place to stay is the start to building stability for work etc…

I think it's great that there are places like this. My brother was homeless for years in Philly due to addiction. No one wants to give a job to an addict or a homeless person. The answer is not as simple as just getting off drugs, because most addicts will use again and fall into the same pattern. Now he is in a rent free apartment for life. The only rule is he is the only person who can live in his apt and he tries to stay clean. They will not kick him out if he uses again or does not have a job. He just has to keep the place clean. This is a much better solution than tent cities and having people defecate on the sidewalks. Having a place to live gives people dignity and safety. These people are human beings and deserver so much more than being brushed off and judged. These places might not look the cleanest or the safest, but like that woman said; "it's so much better than being on the streets"

My heart goes out to that Mexican lady. I am glad America has programs like these for genuine people who need a break in life & a fresh start.

Free room and meals, if they abuse the program move them right on out, to many people are in need of these types of services.

I'm a former resident of Tucson. Retired and living in Cambodia now with my Social Security income. That $220 a week at that nasty hotel in South Tucson covers my rent in an apartment with a kitchen and a beautiful pool for a month here. I've been homeless before in the US. It's a slippery slope with noway out for most people there. I have everything I need here. I'm glad she has this new program and hope she will be successful in her efforts. Thanks for the video.

I used to live in Tucson. I loved it. But my ex-wife ruined it for me. What a lot of people don't realize is that the City of South Tucson and Tucson are two different cities, just like the City of Glendale and Phoenix. They have their own city government and police.

This made me think of the movie “The Florida Project” about a little girl living in a run down hotel with her mom. Great but heartbreaking movie, real gritty.

She mentioned a keyword that goes too unspoken. "Application Fees"... application fees do not assist anyone trying to secure housing. It limits your ability to even apply. Seems illegal. Over a course of a year during COVID when housing was near impossible to find... I got to experience this with my partner. We didn't even come from the streets... our lease ended and the owner was simply taking it off market. You can easily spend a whole months rent up just in applying. The worst feeling is knowing you're just one in a long line of needy people and the other is knowing your application fee money went right into the toilet. Getting a callback would be painstaking. It was like throwing money away on scratch tickets, and the tickets go for $25-100 a pop. For middle to lower class folks, this is a common struggle for housing. The more everything costs, the less building there is. It's time to build new. New towns. New ideas. New solutions. New opportunities... and make it all available and achievable for everyone. Everyone else is developing and we're going off the rails and getting politically brainwashed by idiocracy. Damn it y'all. Just... f*ck.

They need more places like this. Should be for regular housing and to house the homeless. But there needs to be good monitoring to deter illegal activity and destruction of the property.

this shit makes me so sad, as somebody with a substance use disorder I'm also getting shit on by life while doing what I'm supposed to do. my family had a beautiful house in Maricopa and had to come back to the east coast because the housing market became so wild down there. keep making videos like this people need to know not everybody in these places are bad people

Im from texas and for about 3yrs I lived in a housing project similar to what is being shown on the vid. Im grateful for what I had to experience, but im way happier where im at now, safe and problem free.

I should start by saying two things, I've been homeless (multiple times) and I'm a recovering addict myself. That lady is never going to make it. All I heard was her justifying bad decisions and not taking any personal responsibility. If you are unable to do that as an adult you will not be successful. If you really listened to her she NONE of it was her fault. It wasn't her fault she was behind on rent, it wasn't her fault she didn't know she couldn't have her felon boyfriend living with her, it wasn't her fault she couldn't get to work & lost her job, it wasn't her fault she was doing drugs & got her kids taken away, I did notice she played the race card though "I was the only Mexican in the court room" -. - yeah because they must have been racist when you weren't paying your rent, it's that mentality that keeps people down bad. If I saw ONE shred of self awareness I'd have more hope for her.

You know the world is f'd up when its expensive to live in middle of desert. Arizona was always cheap. And still is compared to most big cities. The only reason I lived there in 90's was because it was cheap. Sucks that things have changed for the worse there. Thanks for video.

I was born and raised in Arizona but I live in Cedar City Utah right now I've been thinking about moving back home to Cassa grande where my oldest son lives and I just watched your Cassa grand tour and your brother cousin and you playing golf, I have not left that hard in a long time! Drive by this place daily. The bottom feeders are always looking to see what they can steal. This was once a very nice Howard Johnson's. The other side was a Ramada. Up until the early 80s this area was very nice. Now these places are just circling the drain..... Thank you sharing!

My mom and dad went to Tucson in 1981 and the plumber at the hotel said whatever you do dont move there .

I hope these programs rally work out for these people. If it works, it’s amazing ! Some people just need a little break to make life better for themselves.

I have a family member that lives in one of these. Haven't talked to them in a few years, but its free and they get free food, and helped them get off the streets.

It was my dream alot of work but finally come true! I have a off grid 128 square foot mobile hidden tiny home paid for and everything I need. Only regret I have is wish I would have done it years ago!!!

Bless you for sharing stories of those who are falling through the cracks. It has been happening all along but the volume these days is growing and growing. This used to represent those in the lower classes of society but now it encompasses the middle class, too. This could be any one of us on any given day. Don't think so? Just give it more time ...

In the 70s I traveled all over the country, staying in cheap motels. They weren't loaded with addicts - just people traveling cheaply.

In my opinion having lived in AZ my whole life; Tucson gives you some of the most beautiful glimpses of the Sonoran Desert and landscape you will ever see but at the same time show you some of ugliest sides of humanity you could imagine. it really is an interesting dichotomy.

One thing for sure Big Super shows us the good. the bad, and the ugly side of Arizona. He’s not hiding the truth and I can appreciate that. Cos when I’m there only see the good

I know the program is new, but If this program gets people out of being homeless, then it may be a good program. The residents of the facility just really need to take pride in what the program is offering. Hopefully, this transitional program can get her back to where she wants to be in life. Your videos resonate with me. Although I'm a NJ resident, I was "hotel homeless" for 5 years. The living conditions are the same here as in AZ.

Moral of the story: Don't have face tattoos.

Rooms looked actually clean and decent! I understand its less than desirable but I have seen rooms people pay $85+ for filth

Good to see that she hasn't given up and has support through transitional housing. Hope she finds a good job and a permanent home. Unfortunately her boyfriend's face tattoo is going to hinder his employment opportunities unless he's looking to join a rock band or a carnival circuit.

If shes got an eviction, finding a place will always be hard.

Super I hope you're packing going in to places like that. Not that you'd ever need it, but it's much better to have it and not need it vs the other way around.

The cops rated the first free apartments twice Right before it closed down as a motel. every single room that had someone with a record running it was pulled out of and the rooms went through 😅 It was a crazy druggie wild party people passed out overdosing in the staircases type of place so I'm glad to see how good it looks.

Im sorry but when I work a full-time job a part-time job and clean houses on the side do you know how sickening it is to go to the food stamp office spend 2 hours on the computer filling out an application i get denied but the person in front of you gets3 months of food stamps because they just got released from jail well its a hard pill to swallow

These landlords are now asking for 3 to 4 times the rent..😢 I feel so sorry that some people can't afford that...

I just want to say Thank You for sharing these videos. Ive been watching your channel for a while now and I've watched the tranistion to some of these harsher neighborhoods. Ive lived in AZ (North Phx area) my entire life and I honestly had no idea that we had such rough areas. My heart breaks for those who live in such difficult environments. I can't even begin to tell you how eye opening your content has been. I do ask that you be very careful. Make sure your safety is always #1.

Hotel room not bad at all. Very nice floors and a balcony you can sit out on. Plus rent free.

It looks a lot better than when I lived there for 2 years as a travel nurse it was definitely challenging they do a lot of spice out there turns people into zombies we used to have to incubate patients who came in on for 2-3 days smh

I visited Tucson and it is a beautiful place. Some people were not so nice, but a nice place to live. Homeless was so sad to see so many people that were.

Southwest de of Tucson was nasty 20 years ago can't imagine now.

My Uncle started a church there not far outside of there. He died about 4 years ago, I never visited due to I am so scared of large amounts of people that I stay out of cities. Thank you for your work. Be safe and be blessed.
