America's Darkside | The Real Cost of Cheap Motel Living Apartment Tour is an inside look at Free housing in America where the poor are housed. This once cheap motel now houses qualified people for free but it's on the wrong side of town, the #darkside of South #tucson this #apartmenttour shows they aren't getting much but rents paid and they are left to deal with everything that comes with, alone. Very informative vlog.

Honestly, just having a place to go at the end of the day and be able to close and lock the door, have somewhere comfortable to sleep, have somewhere to use the bathroom, that is truly priceless. You don't realize the toll that homelessness takes on a person until you experience it. It's really the small things that wear on you over time.

For all of my life, I've had a place to call home. Bathroom, comfortable bedroom, warmth, kitchen, roof over my head. Never high-end or really even middle but always comfortable, to me anyway. Sometimes cost me a lot of money which I had to somehow make, sometimes not as much. I've been broke many times. Through all of it, I've NEVER taken anything for granted and have always been appreciative and thankful for what I have, humble as it is. Every night before sleeping I pray for help for those who don't have these basic things and I try to help as much as able every chance I get. And I will continue praying and helping until I'm no longer here.

Programs like this can do amazing things for people. Of course there are plenty of programs that don't provide quite this much and so are geared more toward providing a safer, cleaner, more stable/peaceful place but that's also a big help. It can take a long while to escape homelessness once you fall into it (if nothing else and eviction will hound you for seven years). FWIW, eviction and unaffordable rent are far and away the biggest causes of homelessness -- not mental illness, drug abuse, or incorrigible criminal behavior as constantly asserted in the media.

THE HOLEY BABBLE SUMMARY OF GOD’S LOVING PLAN: Make deals knowing people will break them. Later destroy all but a chosen few. Repeat several times. Impregnate your future mother (Father, Son, Holy Ghost three in one). Get tortured and die to wipe out all sins, except of people not chosen to choose the free gift of faith. Come back on a horse and kill all the wicked with a sword. Then destroy and re-create everything. Send the unchosen many into Hell’s eternally burning darkness. Make the few chosen into pillars in the temple, which is the LORD, of the New Jerusalem made of precious metals and stones, and which comes down OUT of heaven. The End. This is what believers rely upon? Yep, sounds divinely loving, huh? "Whoever is not chastened is not one of his children." Where is triumphalism in the NT?

But if they created jobs the people on top of the economic ladder would lose money! We can't have that. Remember we really need presidents, CEOs, managers, and all this to make sure we are starving and homeless to benefit them. They are just waiting until they can force Chinese work prison labor in America upon us. Considering how stupid people are we are quickly on the way there. For example people are stupid enough to vote for anyone. Or simp for workplace management types who get paid to do nothing while real adult-minded men do the actual work. Enjoy the collapse.

She failed to mention that. It sucks for sure. But don’t put yourself at risk of getting evicted over someone else. You need to protect yourself and read your lease bc I’m sure it states only tenants listed on lease are allowed to reside there. And don’t try that guest bs. It should state how long a guest is allowed as well Edit. Also never accept checks for payment on anything you sell.

Transitional/Temporary living is often rented by recovering addicts/alcoholics and recently released inmates. But I live in a transitional facility- and I’m a senior disabled woman who cannot get Section 8 - and affordable living apartments are very difficult to find in Los Angeles. It’s been a hellish experience because there’s no tenant accountability expected by the “management”…and the landlord gets away with operating a slum. I think it's great that there are places like this. My brother was homeless for years in Philly due to addiction. No one wants to give a job to an addict or a homeless person. The answer is not as simple as just getting off drugs, because most addicts will use again and fall into the same pattern. Now he is in a rent free apartment for life. The only rule is he is the only person who can live in his apt and he tries to stay clean. They will not kick him out if he uses again or does not have a job. He just has to keep the place clean. This is a much better solution than tent cities and having people defecate on the sidewalks. Having a place to live gives people dignity and safety. These people are human beings and deserver so much more than being brushed off and judged. These places might not look the cleanest or the safest, but like that woman said; "it's so much better than being on the streets"

I live in Tucson and this apparently is a program utilizing five old hotels for the homeless to move into. Many won't move into these places because they don't want to be told what to do...they say "too many rules". The owners don't want to have to police the place and why should they?? It's really sad. But we have to TRY to put them someplace. I don't want Tucson to look like Los Angeles.

@@zariballard It's pretty sad that people would rather be homeless because they don't want to live with rules. I live in a condo and yes we have lots of rules. Definitely move them on if they're abusing the rules & not trying at all. But if they fall down once or twice but are otherwise really trying hard then they deserve to stay. Just try to get them more help as needed. Because everyone will fall down at least once while otherwise trying very hard.

Productive men go to work and get stuff done. But then they get fired because they didn't want to sleep with their obese Karen manager. The man gets fired. She mentioned a keyword that goes too unspoken. "Application Fees"... application fees do not assist anyone trying to secure housing. It limits your ability to even apply. Seems illegal. Over a course of a year during COVID when housing was near impossible to find... I got to experience this with my partner. We didn't even come from the streets... our lease ended and the owner was simply taking it off market. You can easily spend a whole months rent up just in applying. The worst feeling is knowing you're just one in a long line of needy people and the other is knowing your application fee money went right into the toilet. Getting a callback would be painstaking. It was like throwing money away on scratch tickets, and the tickets go for $25-100 a pop. For middle to lower class folks, this is a common struggle for housing. The more everything costs, the less building there is. It's time to build new. New towns. New ideas. New solutions. New opportunities... and make it all available and achievable for everyone. Everyone else is developing and we're going off the rails and getting politically brainwashed by idiocracy. Damn it y'all. Just... f*ck.

I should start by saying two things, I've been homeless (multiple times) and I'm a recovering addict myself. That lady is never going to make it. All I heard was her justifying bad decisions and not taking any personal responsibility. If you are unable to do that as an adult you will not be successful. If you really listened to her she NONE of it was her fault. It wasn't her fault she was behind on rent, it wasn't her fault she didn't know she couldn't have her felon boyfriend living with her, it wasn't her fault she couldn't get to work & lost her job, it wasn't her fault she was doing drugs & got her kids taken away, I did notice she played the race card though "I was the only Mexican in the court room" -. - yeah because they must have been racist when you weren't paying your rent, it's that mentality that keeps people down bad. If I saw ONE shred of self awareness I'd have more hope for her.

No, the thing that makes her incapable of getting physical sobriety has nothing to do with any of those things. If you’re sober and clean, you know that physical sobriety has to be the number one thing you start with and she can’t even do that yet. All the other things -self-honesty, inner-reflection, accountability, acceptance-those can’t even be addressed until one stops getting loaded first. One thing you don’t know, however, is if she will “ever” get sober. I’ve seen some hope-to-die addicts get clean (including myself) and become professional, tax-paying, productive members of society. We don’t get to decide who gets clean. That’s God’s job.
