the florida panther. being in kansas we dont see much "big" predators. but out in elk city and independence with uncle and grandparents we had a big cat taking farm animals. neighbors knew the family hunted and wanted us to keep an eye out and sadly we did wind up getting her after she was going after neighbors wild stock

I've always been in favor of zoos for exactly the reason that Forest talks about. In a perfect world, these animals do belong in the wild but because they are so misunderstood, we need places that keep them responsibly like Busch Wildlife Sanctuary to educate the general public about how amazing and worth protecting they are! This looks like an amazing place, and the next time I'm in Florida I'm going to make a point to visit.

I saw a Florida panther a few years ago. I was driving at night on route 41 headed to Miami. I saw was a large black thing in the road as I got closer I realized it was a baby cat (it was too big to be a domestic cat). I drove my car around it and slammed the breaks. On the shoulder was the Mama panther pacing back and forth making a loud whinny sound. It was amazing to see one so close, but sad because she was morning the loss of her baby. My favorite Florida animal is the Gopher Tortoise, I live on an acre in North Florida and have two tortoises calling my yard home. It is the best feeling knowing these tortoises are safe with me.

I live in the suburb of a large city and several yeqrs ago a coyote would come visit me just to "hang out". Often when I returned home in the evening, when I parked my car she would pop up out of the bushes and be sitting in the headlights. I got concerned for her well-being... and the well-being of neighborhood lets... because of her lack of fear of people. Much as I tried to discourage her, she would come sit nearby and sometimes even nod off. She was young and probably just leaving her family to strike out on her own. Sometimes she was silly. One day she found a tennis ball and was tossing it around playing fetch by herself. Another time all I could see of her was four paws sticking up out of tall grass. She had made herself a nice, shady bed and was fast asleep. After two or three months of nearly daily visits, she stopped coming around. I was hopeful that she had wandered off into the nearby hills and was living a proper coyote life.

Road Runners, Bobcats, Foxes, Coyotes, and rattlesnakes, find their way into my backyard, and when any of those things see me or hear me they run, they want nothing to do with me. If I saw a fox approaching me and he or she wasn’t afraid I would instantly think rabies. I know how this things react and behave, and when they don’t act the way I have grown up my entire life seeing them behave, it sends alarm bells in my head.

I will say this forrest in my area in florida we commonslly see 7+foot rattlers. They are very illusive but are still out there. A couple months back one of my local friends saw a rattler that was going across a 2 lane road. The said the snake from tip to tale was almost as long as the road was wide. The diameter of the body was about the size of a mans forearm. The rattle alone was roughly 6 or so inches long. Keep in mind my friend is a snake owner and is familiar with them. But the giants are still out there. Their was a 5-footer on the road dead about a week back. Thwy are extremely smart animals and it seems the big ones know where to hide.

I’m an implant from Ohio, I refuse to kill any snakes. We also have a fox den on our property and neighbors wanted to come on my property to trap them. I said a few choice words and slammed the door in their face. Most of the neighbors feel the same way. One morning I swore I saw a panther in a neighbor’s yard. Found out that they are around here.

As a kid, i used to walk cornfields looking for animal tracks and ditched deer carcasses from poachers. I was a pretty small kid and was followed by a coyote for more than a mile. It made me fear and hate coyotes for the rest of my life.

Time to do something about the numbers of Florida panthers in the wild. Would be devastating seeing another amazing animal go extinct specially in a country with great amount of resource and with people so educated and aware of the issue.

They reintroduced a group of mountain lions from out west into the Everglades. The local stock was becoming too weak from inbreeding

Love the video, wish the music was lowered a tad bit more in some sections as it was hard to distinguish what people were saying

Yeah, a little “musak” for the intro/outro is all that’s needed. At least equalize the volume in post.
