People in the armored fighting vehicle community often argue about what the first main battle tank was. From a doctrinal standpoint, main battle tank is a pretty meaningless term. But whenever people envision a modern MBT, a few characteristics come to mind. A stabilized hypervelocity gun, integral composite armor, and advanced fire control systems. Many assume that the first tank to dabble in these aspects was the Soviet T-64, but the American T95 90mm Gun Tank actually holds that crown.
