I learned to clog after going to the 1977 square dance convention in Disneyland (Anaheim) and seeing it being performed as an exhibition. My whole club fell in love with it and paid to have a teacher come to San Diego and teach it to us. Became the FOOTLOOSE CLOGGERs and put on exhibitions at county fair and even once at the Grand ol Oprey in Nashville Tennesse. Old man now but what fond memories. If you ever get the chance to form a group of dancers, singers, or what ever don't pass it up. It will always give you fond memories. When your end time comes you will never regret what you have done (Hopefully) but what you have not.
I met the tall one yesrterday!!! She was really sweet and very pretty!!!! I have seen her and her friend clog twice. She has been on AGT twice. They are really good.
Whether it's tapping or clogging depends on the taps. Tapping has one solid tap on the toe, while clogging has two taps that clap against eachother on the toe.
My sister danced with the Sugar Cane Cloggers out of East Point, GA. They traveled all over the Southeast and performed at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville. Though they were Grand Champions, there isn't a single video documenting their performances. It's just a shame.
It’s called clogging in the old days it was buck dancing. I clogged for 12 years as a child . We will a few state championships. Happy childhood memories of growing up in Appalachia.
I'm a media director on a tv show and I don't want to be fired....what do I do? I GOT IT!! While the talent is dancing, ill show more of the audience. I hope they don't work in tv anymore, they obviously didn't know what they were doing.
makes me miss being a clog dancer. btw there is a more advanced and extreme form of clog dancing known as buck dancing. just figured I'd share that info since everyone is talking different forms of clog dancing.
Speaking of roots Steve why not go back a little further and call clog dancing an off-shoot of Irish dancing because that's what it is. Check out the word "Fleadh" on RU-vid and see all the Irish dancing that comes up. And the word "Fleadh" means dance in the Irish Gaelic language. And dare I say Irish dancing has been around here in Ireland for centuries, it was especially popular when the buffaloes were roaming the plains of America (joke).
THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!! Compared to me, and I colg as well and I am and good! But they are OUT STANDING!! And FYI it is called CLOGGING not tap dancing. ( weird dos)
These ladies R cloggers not tap dancers! There is a difference... The sound its similar but not quite the same! They are rocking the house!!! Go ladies -
