America Sings was an Audio-Animatronic salute to the great American songbook. It opened on June 29, 1974, in the Carousel Theater (former home of the Carousel of Progress) at Disneyland's Tomorrowland and closed on April 10, 1988, since the bicentennial celebrations were long-over.
The show was hosted by Sam the Eagle (voiced by Burl Ives), who sang the attraction's theme song "Yankee Doodle", and Ollie the Owl (voiced by Sam Edwards). The rotating theater took park guests through four acts, each one representing a different era of American music: Going South, Heading West, the Gay Nineties, and Modern Times.

These audio animatronics were featured in America, sings and were brought to splash Mountain one of my favorite rides ever that I miss so much I really hope all of these audio animatronics can be featured in liberty square Disney should bring this back

This rules big time. It’s so sad that America Sings isn’t available for a lot of guests to see at Disneyland anymore. In fact, EVERYONE is experiencing plenty of nostalgia back when the world was a nice place to live in before homelessness and plenty of other problems occurred as we know today.😿

This was one of my favorite attractions. Loved America Sings. Was disappointing when they closed it. There really was no reason for that since they didn’t replace that space with any worthy attraction since.

the "home on the range" segment is my favorite. it was beautifully staged with the sky changing colors,and the little animals popping up during the song. this video of it is nice,but seeing it live was breathtaking.

The part when the dog is singing "Who Shot That Hole In My Sombrero", that is a different version than the original recording. Different lyrics at the end and different singer.

The audio is the original version (with the Mexican accent and the line about “because I kiss his wife”). The video is newer and shows him singing the edited song (with a different accent and ending line). This video is a mashup of the two. The original version of this video with the updated words is also on RU-vid.

@Garbage Guy What is an actuator? I hate to spoil the magic for you, but you get to hear about how Audio Animatronics work if you watch a video about it. Eric Boardman hosts the whole thing on RU-vid which was made in the ‘80s. 💛

fun fact the ride and the country bear jamboree where going to be a put in the same area in a tomorrow land area in the 1970s after Marc Davis and his team did the art drawings too to be sure again

America Sings probably would of fit more in Critter Country just like The Country Bears, but I suppose they couldn't build a theater like the Carousel of Progresses in Critter Country and just decided to move COP to Disney World and put America Sings in that theater.

This video uses the actual ride audio probably from a CD sold at the time with the audio on it and they dubbed it over the video

fun fact, about one of my favorite rides which is splash mountain Which I’m a daredevil on did you know that all the audio animatronics were in splash Mountain? They used all the America sings audio animatronics to be brought to splash Mountain. I really hope that they will reuse all the audio animatronics from America sings AKA splash Mountain. To a new show or a new ride in both Disney World and Disneyland. That’s what I’m hoping for.

all but two of them. two of the geese audio animatronics were stripped of their skin and turned into the G29T and G24T labor droids seen in the 2nd half of the star tours queue (just before you reach the boarding area).

To tell you the truth, I think it sounds distracting with the dubbed audio because the soundtrack version and the show versions of the audio are not the same. For instance, in the Dixie song, the soundtrack has a drumline, but in the show, it has a banjo line. Also, the voices in the Polly Wolly Doodle and Sombrero segments are different, and the Hound Dog soundtrack has a piano line, but the show instead has a acoustic rock guitar line. The are major differences in the soundtrack version vs. The show version.

That one's easy. It's the 1971 song by Three Dog Night- Joy to the World written by Hoyt Axton. I think that's why they have a bullfrog playing in the band as the first line of the song is: "Jeremiah was a bullfrog"@@emilianolopez4303

Actually, This is the old version of the song. It was changed for the show cause a committee said the Mexican voice was too "stereotypical" and they changed it to a Texas accent instead.
