Henning Greiser, American Airline's Head of International Network Planning, said that the A321XLR would likely be used on new secondary markets to Europe while helping to run year-round flights. Speaking at Routes Americas in San Antonio, he said the type would help increase American's presence in Europe, especially where it’s weak or has no presence of its own...

Yes please, as a plane spotter (and general aviation enthusiast) that would be good for me, as they go over the North West area of Manchester, I could see them, just like the JetBlue A21N from Heathrow as they go North West of me, out over the English West coast. I wouldn't mind American using the A321XLR into Manchester, as there may be a market for them, instead of going all the way down to Heathrow to go on one of their heavies to the USA.

Im hoping that with these new aircraft someone will start serving Bristol from the US. Continental did it with 757s up until 2010, so it would be great to see a US airline back

Would love JFK-HAM and I think chances are not bad. This expansion to Europe in 2018/2019 was targeting highly seasonal markets, markets which would not work in winter. Most of them were flown by 767s that were old and paid for, trying to get some more Dollars out of these planes before they leave. The A321 will enable American to open up some important high demand secondary markets yearround, many of them with enough demand for a yearround A321 but no widebody. Regarding destinations. A look at the destinations that Continental opened up to Europe with the 757 during the 2000s gives an Idea what destinations to expect IMO: OSL, BHX, BFS, ARN, HAM, BER, DUS, CPH for example, plus some others like LYS, MRS and STR, especially routes not within 757-range like NAP, OTP, BUD, TIA. Will be very interesting! American has a huge advantage as they receive their A321XLRs way earlier than United. When United gets their first XLR American will already have their half fleet delivered.
@luchsegamer8112

I would also love it. I live in Hamburg and am a plane spotter so it would be great!:D finally we can fly directly to the USA again.
@widget787
@widget787 2 года назад
@@luchsegamer8112 yes true. Its been a long time since Hamburg was without any direct flights North America. United has not stopped the flight because there was no demand. The XLR is the perfect airplane to start flights to markets like Hamburg from the US. Americans and JetBlue both were in contact with Hamburg Airport already, and United also thinks about serving Hamburg again once their A321 arrive.
@IANinALTONA
@IANinALTONA 2 года назад
JFK-HAM would surely be lucrative after a while. There are traditional ties between the cities since Hamburg is Northern Europe's main seaport for Transatlantic traffic. The route would get a mix of Business, leisure and VFR traffic. Also, Hamburg currently has NO North Americ flights (unusual for a city of 2 million) and JFK would allow for US destinations with a one-stop that otherwise can only be reached within a two-stop via FRA and a US hub. In the past, the route was never done right. United used 757 which (HAM-EWR) had to make a fuel stop every other voyage in winter. Then they used 767 with shoddy interiors (aka Ghettobirds). Emirates started HAM-JFK as a tag-on from DXB-HAM with a daily 777-300 and was quite successful. But gave in due to political lobbying against 5th freedom flights.

GVA was the highest yielding European route out of Boston in 2018 and BA was actually the market leader. More revenue is actually generated by Boston-Geneva traffic than Boston-Lisbon and Boston-Madrid O+D. The market was only 45 PDEW and would need the AA/B6 partnership to work. Fortunately the traffic is somewhat year round too. It would be interesting to see if AA tries this one since I think B6 is hesitant to go beyond LON/PAR/DUB.

I am a supporter of the very good and go ahead policy of Airbus ,but it has to be remembered that the first long haul flying was in a 3 plus 3 cabin of the Boeing 707 and to use the A 320 as a long haul Aircraft this format is being introduced , but if by doing so introduces low cost seats across the Atlantic and other long haul routes it could be popular, looking at the demand for the Aircraft from Airlines it looks a winner.

@spongebubatz

On the vast majority of carriers you will find the exact same seat as on the airline‘s widebody counterparts, by the way the average A320 seat is wider than one on the 777
@cr10001
@cr10001 2 года назад
@@spongebubatz The thing with a narrowbody (A320, 737, 757) is, the seat width is dictated by the manufacturer's cabin width, the airline can't squeeze an 'extra' seat in as they often did with widebodies. (787's in 3-3-3, 777's in 3-4-3...) Seat legroom, on the other hand, and seat thickness, is down to the airline, whether narrow or wide.

From Boston - BRU and GVA yield well so AA would be wise to consider. BCN/MAD (take over from IAG Partners), resuming CDG/MAN, and maybe HEL, DUS, HAM or BER would be other options from BOS. I do not think we would see Boston-OSL/ARN/VCE. The more I think of it, AA should really take over BOS-MAD from Iberia and run it daily in winter and double daily in summer with perfect timing for connections in MAD hub.

NYC-CPH is an obvious choice, currently only served by SK and a seasonal DL. CO and then UA served this route with 752s until the bean counters bungled up and closed it because they overlooked that a large chunk of southern Sweden fly out of CPH instead of ARN. There’s a very large number of Scandinavians visiting the big Apple and most fly via European hubs instead of direct.
