What else would you guys like to see? What do you think? I am an independent film maker, soon to be energy drink manufacturer with a passion for cars, caffeine, and cinematography. Place your requests below and enjoy the film about Jeep.
Just to reiterate, I love the Jeep community, in fact, it is one of the most loyal, caring, and enthusiastic in the car community. Which is why I made this video, I care about the community, and it pains me to see what is happening.
Ironically, I never thought I would ever purchase a BMW, I always listened to my favorite RU-vidrs like Scotty Kilmer, however, after spending over a month in Germany and driving their cars (rentals), I fell in love with them.
Being in the museums there, seeing the pride the company takes in their product changed my outlook. Why doesn't the Jeep company care more? Why doesn't the Jeep company go the extra mile? They could obtain additional revenue streams from not even selling cars.

Gone are the days when BMWs and Mercedes Benz made cars that a person could drive for years, sell it, and the next owner could drive it for more years. Those car makers found out that they couldn't make money on cars that lasted for at least 500 thousand miles. German engineering went out the window. Now they make cars that are meant to be leased for 3 years and then turned in for a newer model.

Can't, CAFE standards for fuel economy and car size make it impossible. A car needs to have x mpg per square foot and it goes up every year, having exceeded reasonable expectation so manufacturers must pay fines for not meeting it. So they build bigger, dumber cars and pay the government fines who pays them grants and both take your money for a garbage product you can't afford and don't want

Actually, it depends. In talking with my local Lamborghini dealer, I can order a new Huracan and it will be delivered in about two years. This is the price I pay to buy one at MSRP with no markup while the used car market prices are still insane. And all these prices are north of $230K. So I'd say if I can get a 2 year old Huracan with low mileage with documented service for $100K, I'd buy it in an instant much less at $80K!🙂🙂🙂

@@A-BombEnergy The off-road duty of the original Jeep has been filled by SxS and UTV's like Polaris line-up. Likewise the Toyota 4runner is a better general-purpose vehicle than the Jeep. Can I ask you a serious question? The only “negative” (and I use quotations because I don’t think you mean to be negative) comment I’ve gotten is about the museum bit. Is me highlighting the high prices, lack of customer service, and poor manufacturing not clear enough in the video to where the only thing I hear a complaint about is the museum piece? I feel like those items I highlighted have very clear fixes, literally do the opposite. The impetus behind the museum, (which God help me I’m going to make it even more clear in the next video) is because I met a Porsche employee before and after he did the Porsche museum and track tour. The after was surprisingly different than the before. Thanks for commenting though, hope you have a great day.

My friend had a newer Grand Cherokee that he dropped nearly $100,000 on an ir was in and out of the dealership constantly. The transmission needed a full replace when he had 1,000 miles left on the warranty, so luckily it was covered. While picking it up from the dealership he asked if the car was going to keep having issues, expecting the “oh this is just a freak thing don’t worry about it” answer. The service manager pulled him aside and said “sell this thing quick before the warranty runs out and buy something Japanese”. That shows the sort of brand confidence even the dealers have these days.

Jeep has a following that is second to none, but a big part of that has always been the low entry price. I’ve owned Jeeps for decades now, but I wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for being able to purchase an inexpensive Wrangler when I was young. They’ve now priced themselves completely out of the range of the younger generation and put themselves in the luxury car market with no basis for being there. Their packages in no way compare to those of other brands. Range Rover is really their main competitor now (at their price ranges), who also did something similar, but Rovers are luxury vehicles now. Jeep is trying to build base vehicles for luxury prices to rip off their loyal customer base. I currently own three Jeeps: a '22 Grand Cherokee, a '22 Gladiator, and a '93 Cherokee. At the pace the competition is going, my next upgrade will most likely be a Jeep competitor. We’ve been a Jeep family for years, and Jeep is failing us. I also agree the Jeep Wave program is a complete joke, and insulting to the Jeep community that began the real Jeep wave.

Brother, you are preaching some serious truth in this comment. My family has been a LOYAL Jeep family for a long time too, and I bought my first Jeep in 2018 after a deployment. Got ripped off by the dealer (they undercoated it and hid rust) and luckily, I was able to trade it in at a dealership in upstate NY and they didn't care about the rust. Got my Jeep JL brand new but it was such a stretch to purchase because how expensive it was. I cannot imagine now buying a Jeep for what they are asking. I just bought a 2022 BMW M340i...and WOW is that car a blast and its cheaper than MOST Jeeps. I still have my Jeeps and I love them...but I am not sure if I'll ever buy a new one. How do you like the Gladiator? I rented on in FL a year-ish go and I loved it tbh...almost considered getting one but I just couldn't do the price. Thanks for the sub and comment, it really helps.

@@A-BombEnergyI love the Gladiator. It’s exactly what I wanted in a Jeep truck - a Wrangler with a bed. It did take some getting used to though, as my previous two Jeeps before the Gladiator were a '14 JK 2-door, and a '99 TJ 2-door before that. The Gladiator is over double their length. However, now that I’m an older dad, I needed that extra space. With that said, this purchase is the one that made me start to see the failings of Jeep, and made me rethink my brand loyalty. I almost went with a Tacoma as you can get more features for about 10k less. Jeep didn’t even have adaptive cruise control until this year in any of their vehicles, and still, they won’t include it in sport models. With all that said, I love taking the top off so I still went with the Jeep. I’ve heard rumblings that Stellantis is starting to get the message, and maybe rethinking their pricing, and It appears they have begun to at least acknowledge they have to keep up with technology features to stay relevant. Here's hoping anyway.

My business has 3 very nice Lariat F150s less than 10 years old and all less than 120k total all highway miles. All 3 have had to have complete transmission and engine replacements. I bought a brand new 2008 JKU Rubicon with the 3.8L and a manual trans. The Jeep was amazing offload but the second the tires hit pavement it became the biggest turd I have ever driven. That 3.8L dynoed @ 103hp at the rear wheels, my 1957 Jeep CJ5 with a 229 V-6 from a Monte Carlo had more hp!! (Don't even get me started on death wobble situation.) After owning it for 9 years, I compared the 2017 Grand Cherokee with the 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum. Chrysler wanted almost $15,000 more for the Grand Cherokee than the FULLY LOADED Explorer Platinum. So, I traded the JKU in on a 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum. The only thing I miss about the JK was the places we went with it, but I don't miss that JK even a little bit. The JK will be the last Chrysler product I will ever own. Honestly the government should of just Chrysler go bankrupt and disappear into the sunset.

Really it's the MBA culture. Make numbers for the month or the quarter regardless of the damage it causes in the future. They'll figure out how to cut costs to make up for future losses when the time comes. Numbers, numbers, numbers. Examples are Jeep haphazardly releasing the Ecodiesel in 14' despite Detroit engineers telling Fiat that the VM Motori engine would not work well in the application (US fuel and emissions systems are different than EU). They pushed it out anyway to pull sales to VM Motori (also owned by Fiat) and to rush to market. They lost their butts on it between EPA lawsuits, extremely high warranty claims, class action suits resulting in high legal fees, a $3K+ rebate to all buyers and extended warranty coverage on emissions systems, which are unreliable to begin with. Their crappy EGR coolers, plastic oil coolers, plastic intakes and other cheap parts failed and led to engine fires (EGR coolers started intake fires) and recalls. I have a 2014 JGC Summit and it had the entire exhaust/catalyst system replaced under recall the first year ($8K retail cost), it had the front timing cover seal and front main seal fail under warranty ($1700 retail), the EGR cooler recall (unsure of cost) resulted in intake, valve covers, injector tubes and turbo hoses being changed under the recall as they were all melted due to EGR cooler failure (was close to burning). 4,000 miles later (at 64K), the engine seized up without warning on a 225 mile road trip. It also had the leather dashboard delaminate under warranty ($1700) and it's delaminated again (not fixing it). Factory warranty expired and extended warranty has spent $22K to date and I'm pending a $9K transmission replacement as mine is throwing codes and flare shifting (warranty is dragging feet hoping it'll last until October when it expires). Trade in value is around the price of the transmission. The new engine with 25K on it is using a quart of oil per 500 miles and has already had a timing cover leak repaired, I don't have much faith in it and will dump it before the warranty runs out. I paid $58K new for it and am pretty sure that much has been spent on it in repairs between FCA and my extended warranty. I like RAM, Jeep Chrysler/Dodge vehicles, but I would never buy one again unless maybe it came with a bumper to bumper 100K factory warranty and a free loaner car whenever it has to go in the shop. That isn't going to happen as they know their quality isn't good enough to manage it, so I'm looking at other brands. I have 5 months before the warranty runs out and I don't want to own it one day after!

I had a 2015 2dr rubicon wrangler. I loved it being a manual for off-roading. But after a few years I was sick of the small size as I couldn't use it for much. Plus the payments. So I traded it in for a 2002 Toyota Tundra. It's my dream truck! Perfect size for everything I need. Paid off which is even better! And no extra bs maintenance needed as I can do almost all repairs myself. So far it's been totally awesome with only minor issues like the o2 sensors. It's at nearly 200K miles now without any major hiccups. Toyota really does have an edge. Plus I love the older ones cause they look cooler and are smaller thus more practical. I can actually use the bed vs my dad's 2023 Dodge Powerwagon. I can hardly put anything into that bed cause it's just way too huge. If only vehicles could be smaller and more practical. And cheaper. These days I can't hope to afford a new car at all. Plus I don't want to. Too many government nanny features and difficult to repair lol. I'll gladly stick to older, proven vehicles.

Won’t let the dealer touch them when it comes to service. I installed both jeeps with catch cans and it’s amazing how much oil is caught in just a few drives. As someone who considers myself a Jeep enthusiast, mostly for the older models, I'm hoping this is the wake up call Jeep needs if it is to ever preserve its reputation. I think you were spot on about Jeep's "heyday", it seems to correllate with the use of AMC components, I absolutely love the I6 engines. These were very capable and fun vehicles that you could easily work on in your driveway, and they have a certain unique feel to them, hence their old marketing phrase "there's a feeling you can get, only in a Jeep!" The company had a philosophy of creating simple, reliable, rugged off roaders that were wasy to work on and modify. Then in the mid 2000s or so, they started putting out a lot more low quality crossovers like the Patriot and Compass, cutting corners, and using engines of questionable quality and reliability. They watered down the Wrangler a lot with the JK, turning the Wrangler from an old, utilitarian off roader to more of a modern SUV. It still could go off road, but a lot of that magic the older models had was lost. It felt like a 2000s Chrysler product, and that's not a good thing. You still see old XJs, YJs, TJs, ZJs, etc both on and off road all the time, but I have such a hard time seeing these new models having anywhere near that longevity. They're so expensive that nobody is going to want to take them off road in the first place. I get that most current Wrangler buyers tend to be older women who prefer more of a family vehicle with a cute appearance, but expecting them to pay BMW prices for a Fiat Chrysler is completely absurd.

This is one of my favorite comments thus far! You nailed everything in this. I barely take my JL offroad simply based on how expensive it is and I have maintained it beyond what is normal. I don't want to ruin her just yet. I do take her to the beach and off road a few times a year but that is light duty (unless I am pulling someone out who got stuck!) There is a special feeling I do get when I drive my TJ, doors on and off. She is a special lady who works hard for me. I can't get rid of her. People have offered to buy my TJ and XJ I don't know how many times because they want that cheap jeep to off road in. Funny enough, many of them are JL owners! I never did crazy offroading with it, but took it on gravel mountain roads several times a month. Super reliable and fun to drive, that I don't want to get rid of it. I have driven a '94 5.2 v8 grand cherokee, and that thing is fun to drive, but also really quiet as well. The current market of cars in general, especially jeeps, is just insane. My next vehicle that I would like is a grand cherokee zj, an early 00's lexus rx300/gx470, or if I had to get a newer vehicle (mid-late 2010's), it'd only be a 4runner. Its crazy to think that these 90's and early 2000's Jeeps are still rolling strong on the roads. Very few cars can say they have this reputation, and you are living proof of what can be achieved. I believe Jeep is living off of people like you, or I guess living off a reputation they are openly desecrating. Lexus rx300 would be a sick ride or the 4Runner. I was pricing those out recently and couldn't believe how much they run for, even being 20 years old and having over 200,000 miles. But that is what quality work gets you. Thanks for the compliment. I am new to RU-vid, so I expect to have no subs for a while but it's okay. I will keep grinding and making quality content for you guys. Running 2 businesses and being active duty is rough, but I love the challenge. Thanks again for the sub.

Great video, great research, and fantastic perspective. My only critique is the ultra wide resolution looks like shit. Wow nice video!!! I was grossly surprise when I saw you had under several 100,K subs!!! I instantly liked and subbed!!! RU-vid is built by up and coming creators such as yourself. I have seen and read all the horror stories and also the reasons for them and how and what to look out for, like the oil change capacity comm breakdown and be careful of the over tightening of the plastic oil cap, to prevent oil leaks. Also the importance of regular oil changes.I hav also read experiences brimming with praise. I learned how to drive a stick on my uncles too less TJ in 2003 and it was love at first sight. I am blessed to have a 23 JL 3.6. Just went for a two hour drive with the doors and windows off to visit pops. I did my first ỐC at 1000 miles and again at 5000 with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and quality filters (the manual specifically asks for oils that have Chrysler MS-6395 spec such as shell and pen soil (I think there are others but a lot of research has pointed me in this direction. I will never subscribe to these 7500 or god forbid 10k OCI. I love my Jeep and I hope and pray it will last 😭

I responded to your other comment about your uncles TJ, but it is a very moving story. Glad to see you are using Pennzoil UP, I think that is probably the best oil you can buy aside from Amsoil. Project Farm did a test of the oils and Pennzoil nailed it. Luckily, that is what comes in the Jeep from the factory. I agree, those extended oil changes are insane, I think that is how they can skirt around fines from daddy. Thanks for commenting my friend.

I bought a 2012 F150 at nearly the same time my wife got a Jeep Patriot. It was decked out,and it rode decently, but over the next 5 years, that car absolutely came apart on her. The electronics, suspension, engine... the wheels kept leaking air. I aired the tires twice per week, or the TPMS would drive her batty. On 3 different occasions, the radio came on in the driveway IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. I had to run out and disconnect the battery to get it to stop. We joked that it was haunted or possessed. My wife loved and babied that car, but in the end, we cut ties when the warranty ran out. The biggest loss was trust. Jeep tried to find ways to put the blame on her. Then on me. Mind you, I was maintaining 5 cars (daughters) at the time, and I stayed on top of it. - By the book. My wife's dad was a life-long Jeep fan, and that Liberty was a way of reconnecting with his memory. It was the first Jeep she'd ever owned. Sadly, it will probably be the last. Still got the F-150. 230K miles and zero mechanical issues. It does burn some oil, but that's just the 5.0, from what I've heard. These are annecdotal tales, but enough of them, and theyre no longer annecdotal.
@A-BombEnergy
@A-BombEnergy Месяц назад
Wow I am surprised (not) to hear about these issues. I am sad you guys had them which forced you to cut ties with it. That Patriot was essentially a Fiat 500 I believe and those cars were not good. Although, I think its more fun to call the car haunted lol...makes for a better story. Sounds like that Jeep dealer wasn't a good one, especially trying to pass blame onto the customer...what good business does that lol? You are a busy guy, maintaining all those cars. Did you teach your daughters how to do basic maintenance? You are good dad my friend. I also made a video on Ford, I hope that one doesn't upset you too much but you have.a quality vehicle. Some dealers I have been to have underfilled oil by a quart. I now check dipstick before leaving dealer as this is cheating each customer retail value of a quart synthetic oil. Overfill a quart may be worst because of crank foaming. I read newest jeep motors have deleted oil dipstick, aside from oil level how do you look crankcase oil quality or coolant contamination?
@A-BombEnergy
@A-BombEnergy Месяц назад
Cliff, good to see you again. I haven't heard of them under filling but it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I don't get why they don't just do the right thing and provide exceptional service EVERY time. When I daily drove my dodge charger, I use to take it to BMW for service because they treated me better and never attempted to rinse me. Getting rid of dipsticks I think is such horrible idea. My BMW is like that and I just change the oil myself and do it early just so I can monitor the quality of the oil. I would rather have a dipstick for every fluid...Thanks for commenting Cliff, hope you have a great weekend. -Brandon

As one who has weathered all the massive upheavals and declines of the Chrysler Corp. during the last half century of near exclusive ownership of that brands vehicles I find your video to be highly accurate of it's history and future outlook. While I have had extremely good fortune with my vehicles in spite of subjecting them to rugged off road use and excessive trailer towing I've also heard horror stories from other owners. Given my advanced years and lack of confidence in the new generation of the current offerings (not to mention the cost!) I have no intention of replacing my current '08 Ram or '05 Jeep TJ. @user-zt8zz9yt3f
@user-zt8zz9yt3f 2 месяца назад
@@A-BombEnergy I think that you hit on the most salient points regarding the faults at Jeep. Unfortunately, their issues are not unlike those faced by the other domestic manufacturers, they're merely under our microscope because Jeep is a favored brand and we have the false hopes that they'll succeed where others have failed. But as to the issues; you rightfully point out ongoing quality & dealer problems - this has been a persistent situation throughout the history of Chrysler Corp. for the last 50 years. They built their reputation on advanced engineering (though not always well executed - hence the quality issues) but have long been hobbled by poor customer/dealer relations. The latter not only produced a poor customer buying experience but was often reinforced by poor service after the sale. Jeep (and FCA in general) is in need of major damage control to restore buyer confidence as little brand loyalty remains among the formerly faithful. And these efforts need to be more than just a skin-deep and hollow PR campaign but instead extend down to address the root of the problem(s). Will this occur under current Stellantis leadership?

My dream vehicle turned into my nightmare vehicle. I sold it after having owned it for 1½ years. This was the shortest period of ownership for any of my vehicles. I will never buy a Jeep again.

Man brother, I am sorry to hear you had such a poor experience with Jeep. I hate hearing these stories but the truth is the truth and it can't be ignored. Its crazy because the CJ7's are worth SO much right now and highly sought after. What do you drive now? What do you think about other brands like Ford? They are next in this series. Trailer is posted, check it out and let me know what you think and if you have experience or suggestions, I would love to hear about it. Thanks for commenting, I hope you have a great weekend and look forward to future conversations with you. -Brandon

I've owned and driven Jeeps for over 30 years, but the last Jeep that I bought was a 2005 model and I will likely never buy another. My 2005 Jeep is still running well, but it has an electronic control module that Jeep discontinued manufacturing or stocking almost a decade ago. The are no new modules to be found anywhere now and used ones can not be rebuilt. If that module fails, the Jeep is unusable and will go to the scrapyard, even though the rest of the vehicle is perfectly serviceable. The used car market now values the vehicle at little more than scrap value. Meanwhile, many Ford or GM vehicles that have been out of production for decades longer still have necessary critical repair parts available. And CDJR wonders why fewer and fewer people have any loyalty to its products . . .

Wow, what an incredible comment. I didn't know about this problem with the 2005 models. I'll add that to my tool kit of knowledge. Jeep is way to quarterly profit driven and satisfying the board...when they should be trying to satisfy the customer. Have you checked to see if there are any aftermarket companies that make it? Like doorman or something?

Canadian here - I am currently going through the ringer with my 2024 4xe Willy's Wrangler. Bought it at the end of October of 2023 and then encountered a massive issue rendering it undrivable exactly a month later. It's been out of commission for exactly 6 months and they are nowhere near what is causing the vehicle from its issues. I'm fortunate they provided me a 2023 4x4 Wrangler in the meanwhile but this is just making me wonder how many more parts they're going to swap until they decide to just replace the vehicle outright?

Brother, I’m really sorry to hear about your situation. The 4xe is such a cool concept and unfortunately I think Jeep released it too soon and we are now seeing the ramifications of that. You don’t deserve that. I’m glad they at least gave you another wrangler but it’s still not what you paid for and I hope they do more for you. Have you looked at the Broncos? I know many jeep people have gone that route. I’m also doing a video on Ford, if you have time, check out the trailer I posted a few days ago and let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions. Keep me updated on your situation with your jeep, DM me on instagram or post a comment here. Good luck my friend. 🫡🇺🇸🇨🇦🫡

@@A-BombEnergy Thanks for the reply! When we were looking at a new vehicle a Jeep was in the cards for the most part. My family back east drives them and until I got this one, I was heavily into the JDM/Tuner scene for the 20+ years I've been putting rubber to asphalt. They've determined it is a mechanical and electrical failure with the transmission. When I tried to test it out and switch gears, it feels like it's trying to change gears but can't, which results in jerking to the left. Will keep you posted!

I ask because I’m doing the next film on Ford, which will be out this month. I just posted the trailer, and would love to hear your opinion or suggestions about the trailer/upcoming film. There has been talk of putting in a sweet Jeep museum in Toledo Ohio. I got to see the plans about 5 years ago and it was set to be awesome but it's been crickets since the drawings were made.

I saw that online when I was searching to confirm if they had one. I found online that it simply vanished, and the project stopped, and local news organizations tried to find out why. Nobody knows what happened.

@@A-BombEnergy Im in Germany. Same VM engine is in your Ram 1500. Its well documented camshaft and EGR cooler failure. Engine can destroy itself at any mileage. Fiat engines are ok, the VM are always an issue, 2.8d Wranglers with VM had problems too.

Just bought an auction 92 cherokee that I am trying to revive from an ignition switch wiring disaster by whoever had it last. I bought it specifically so that I could learn to revive some of their greatest cars ever, and because of the following the XJs have. Gotta say, it has way more style than the cherokee now.

It wasn't that long ago, people keep blaming inflation, and to a certain extent they are correct. But Jeep is clearly inflating their own prices too.

I also experienced the Jeep wave ownership program, at my Lexus dealer. The only difference is it's not called the Jeep Wave ownership program, it's called buying literally any Lexus. I bought my Lexus from a small time exotic dealer in Florida and had it shipped up to my home state of Maryland, and my local Lexus dealer never batted an eye. Whenever they needed to service my car for more than one day, they gave me a rental without being asked. I didn't even know it was an option, they just handed me the keys. And they don't need a cutesy name for it, they just do it. I'm tempted to say they just do it because they're Lexus, and I imagine that by calling it "The Jeep wave ownership program", Jeep customers will be deterred from ever saying something like, "they're just doing it because they're Jeep".
@A-BombEnergy
@A-BombEnergy 2 месяца назад
Lol are you saying Lexus hooks you up for literally just buying one of their cars?! What an amazing concept. Jeep needs to take notes. It sounds like your Lexus dealer is really showing what customer service is supposed to be, I am glad you are being taken care of. American's are getting rinsed with these high prices, at least they are showing service. You know, we mention all these failures and successes by Jeep and Lexus, but who has shocked me even more than Jeep is Ford. I am doing the next film on them, just posted the trailer if you want to check it out and let me know what you think, I would love to hear any experience or suggestions you may have. Thanks for commenting and sharing what true customer service is. -Brandon
