It's a beautiful place, living in Cornwall I have been there several times. As for living there? Its a big no no. As you saw in the video Natasha and Debbie , everywhere you walk is on a very steep hill. No shops and deliveries from supermarkets are As they said are left at the top of the very steep hill, and trust me it's a hell of a walk. No cars no Internet no phone signal, no double glazing or central heating. All the propertie are listed buildings. If you want to live in the 1700,s that's the place to go.

Now that you've covered beautiful Clovelly, perhaps find a video on the twin villages of Lynton & Lynmouth, which are connected by a water-powered railway/elevator! You could follow that by Watersmeet (not a village but still in Devon), which I believe is still also privately owned. (Offer crumbs and robins come to your table as you sit drinking your tea.)

Hello there both. I live about 5 miles away from Clovelly in the nearby town of Bideford. We’re actually on the North Devon coast, not west Devon as stated on the video. You would both love it around here, towering cliffs, river estuaries and miles of sandy storm beaches popular with surfers. Move slightly inland and you have the rolling hills of Devon, narrow country lanes with high hedgerows, ancient woodland and green pastures with cattle and sheep.

Despite what the village advertises, there is no charge to walk into Clovelly. I live pretty close, and often go fishing from there. I have never, would never pay, the place is very well off: not all the inhabitants, but the village owners. I used to live on Lundy, and would often come back to the mainland through the harbour. The charge is for the bus to take you down. It is steep to walk, but seriously, if you can walk then do it. Its part of the charm. By the way, its much easier to run up the village street ( I did it last about 15 years ago): running down is to chance shattering your ankle!

Natasha and Debbie, Clovelly is a beautiful and wonderful well loved village, I’m glad you found it. If you are looking for unique and fascinating historic places you should look up the City of Chester my home town. Chester located in the North West next to the Welsh border and was once a very long time ago the Roman fortress of Deva, and is complete with Roman walls encircling the City, we also have a Roman Amphitheatre. The city inside the walls is built in the Tudor style with beautiful black and White half timbered buildings, in the City you will find something called The Rows a historic and fascinating system of two level walkways which are totally unique to Chester and will not be found anywhere else in the Uk, and must be seen, I think it is possible to see a video of just The Rows alone. There are many more things to be seen, a beautiful cathedral which was originally built in the 1500’s as a monestry. Of course like most places in England we have Castel remains, and we have a world famous Zoo. We also have the oldest horse racing course in the Uk. The thing to note about Chester is that it is a very small and compact City easily seen on foot . Also it has Royal connections King Charles was the Earl of Chester while he was Prince Charles and the title is now bestowed on Prince William.

Only reason it car free is getting out you be driving up steps that if the car would fit on top that cobbled streets steep hills in the wet grip be limited so if you managed to get down, the climb out another story but looking at the images streets i think even my city car be too big , well main part is car free but a side road go to coast right next to it but that where some residents and red lion pub or guest house parking so if you book there you could drive up to 50 meters from the car free zone if you didn't fancy walk down but even that road was very narrow and 26% grade but good thing id say the closest car park is a free one, unsure if they charge in the big one. do not see any gates for payment, and walking from the free car parking if you can get place looks like you could just walk in to village. looks a bit winter the images i can see so could not charge in winter . but good thing both car parks look to have good amount spaces and not to far to walk. lot's holidays when i was young going to that coastline, do think ive been to this place. sure is very pretty, going there for sun set i think i will do one day a re visit. been to many fishing villages round that area one thing i do remember all those steps to climb. very pretty area of UK all along that coast line. im still exploring wales, ten years in and still not seen all whats on the list, but list keeps growing so one day i get south but top Scotland first and some isles like isle of Arran another area with stunning landscapes. next few visits to wales im sure going to make an effort ticking of some locations i want to visit, then start the fine planning 1k plus miles road trip to Scotland could take quite a few weeks, so a bit wild camping or turn car in to home in places accommodation limited or costly, the isle of Arran im excited for, first time im driving on to a ferry and might stay the night or get north ferry to continue north. so i sure got plans, and even plans heading south but they also very south on the list, i go to the easy places last, as Scotland up to the top the way im going just did a rough idea of route its 24 hours non stop driving 850 miles but that be more as detours along trip and no way it can be done in few days, ferry for isle of Arran south and north of island and ferry from Mallaig to Armadale to continue heading north. sounds like lot time away but it be stunning landscapes. with health rubbish and not getting better i go Scotland first, even now that road trip is going to be hell of a challenge so cannot leave it too late, leave it to late pain take away lot enjoyment. for sure south is great too south west, tend to keep away from London south east. south west coast line very pretty lots nice little villages and towns, some cider farms too what you can visit, one day i get back there :) just a very long list places / locations

When I have visited Clovelly it has always been sunny and even so much better in real life. Lovely going down, but hell going back up.

Of course they'd let you live there, nice people = nice people, no matter about anything else. Down somebody mentioned Lynton & Lynmouth, I agree, it's a gorgeous place for you to see. I also recommend Brixham, Torbay for you to see ;-)

Hi ladies I went to Clovelly many years ago and have always had gone memories of the village. I could suggest you might like to look at Mousehole pronounced Mouzel in Cornwall, Staithes pronounced Steers in Yorkshire, or Portmerion in North Wales.

Chichester is pronounced [CHICH] + [UH] + [STUH]. The 'Chi' is the same as it's pronounced in chicken. I live in Chichester. Love your videos! Big fan!

Do you understand that that plaque is a museum quality article and you’ve got one! Congrats girls look after it! Those tea towels are copies of the old British rail adverts at stations in the maybe 30s maybe trying get more people to travel to holiday places.

Hey girls! Places on a par: Lynton and Lynmouth (one above the other, also in Devon), Porlock (Somerset), St Mawes (Cornwall), Charlestown (Cornwall). And so many more. Google those above, and you’ll see what I mean. They’re as good as the photos make them look.

Clovelly is Love-elly! Each time we go down to Devon we have to call in at Clovelly. First visit on Honeymoon, Then with the children then with the Grandchildren. The second time we went they were filming "The Buccaneer" a pirate film starring Oliver Tobias (RIP). They had a pirate ship tied up in the harbour.😍😍😍

I remember visiting this delightful village with its precipitously steep pathway all the way down to sea level - and up again! My main memory, after appreciating the breath-taking scenery, was when my ex-wife and I had toiled determinedly back up to the car park high above and saw a group of white-haired elderly ladies about to go down. One of them saw the very gentle slope of the pathway from the car park down to the top of the path down into the village and observed ‘Ooh, it’s quite steep, isn’t it?’ I was put in mind of Al Jolson but refrained from saying ‘You ain’t seen nothin’ yet!’

When I stayed in the village I got talking in the pub one evening and asked what happens if you happen to die there. They said that a coffin is strapped to a sled which is lowered to the house where the deceased is, the body is then placed in the coffin which is lowered on the sled to the harbour (usually once the village has closed for the day so as not to cause distress) where its loaded into the hearse and driven to the funeral home.

We used to take our children there every year from 1981 through 1996 my children are now 42 and 40 and we still talk about our holidays in north Devon. Clovelly was free when we used to go there but it's one of the quaintest villages in the UK.

We were there while holidaying some 45 years ago, AND the donkeys were still used then, and for transporting the more elderly tourists who couldn't manage the steep passageways and lanes. I doubt I could do it today, the climb back is so very STEEP! A pretty little place and especially so out of season. Free to access the village in those days and just park the car at the top where you might.

I was lucky enough to visit this place a few years back and it was as stunning as you think it is, well worth the money to go visit and take in this piece of British history. Along the beach where the little girl got the pebble you can find a nice little waterfall.
