Klaus is a German elite athlete from the GDR (formerly East Germany during its Soviet occupation). As a ski jumper, he was highly successful and posed a threat to winning the gold medal at the Olympics before the USA. To prevent this, the CIA intervened and transferred the brain of a goldfish into the ski jumper. Accidentally, the brain of the ski jumper was also beamed into the goldfish. Stan took him home to destroy evidence. In the German dub, Klaus is also spoken with an extremely Saxon accent, making him even funnier.

It's not formerly East Germany, it's East Germany now and formerly GDR. There is no GDR since 1990 anymore. And this was really really bad german he spoke. Hard to even understand as a german.

He was a ski jumper. I believe he was injured trying to defect and the CIA transfered his mind into a fish to smuggle him out. It was supposed to be temporary.

Idk if you read the comments. The goldfish is called Klaus, a german scientist who worked for the CIA who transferred his body into a goldfish and Stan accidentally destroyed his human body, so Klaus lives with the family but doesn't really get involved with stories very often

all the scenes in this vid that look rlly old r from the very first episode of american dad lol, it premiered in 2005 and all of season 1 looks like that
