Such a cool idea for a channel! I’m an elementary school teacher, and I find the idea for your channel to be quite brilliant. (I wish I had thought of it, myself!) For what it’s worth, here’s a bit of positive feedback (and a bit of self-indulgent reminiscence) that thought I’d pass along to you. Timeliness: With all of today’s migration, you’re certainly providing a timely resource. I can’t imagine what it must be like to be uprooted due to war, violence, political threat or global warming, and to be faced with trying to communicate effectively during the journey and then while trying to acclimate to a foreign culture’s norms and dialects. With your tips, I know it would be much easier. Your presentation choices: I love the personal connection created by your speaking directly to the camera and writing on the white board in real time. Old-school simple is often best! On a personal note: Your lesson reminds me of my Mum’s approach. Apparently, at age 3, I begged her to teach me how to read. (Four older siblings’ achievements often inspired baby sister’s blind courage!) Cognitive Load Mum used the same, calm, easy-going tone of voice that you do. I find this helps keep the auditory load low, which is great for people going through trauma (as may be the case for many of your visitors, who may be facing the fears associated with life in a new land). Unlike many instructional videos, yours are free of irrelevant cognitive weight: musical distractions; flashy, extraneous visual bells & whistles. Your plain white background and close-up frame both eliminate visual clutter. Even your choice of black zippered shirt is helpful in its simplicity. Content Mum taught me the classic ‘reading rules’ like the ‘Silent E’ rule, here. Perhaps this is something of interest to you for possible content: When the rule was too clumsy to chant musically, I’d trim it down or cite an example instead. “The silent E makes the A say A” was more fun for me than, “The silent E makes the vowel before it say its own name”. Once I knew the rule, then chanting the example was more cognitively ‘sticky’. And a thank-you… My Mum was the best teacher I’ve ever known, and your video brought her back to me today, so thank you. All the best to you in your work.

Thanks for sharing! I have a background in elementary education (I worked as a school speech pathologist doing special education for many years) and it's amazing to me how many of the techniques I developed working with kids are effective with adults as well. I do really focus on giving solid visual information, avoiding distraction and being thorough in explaining the "why" as well as the "how." I appreciate that you took the time to share your kind feedback, and thanks too for your suggestion on helping make things cognitively sticky. It sounds like your Mum was an incredible teacher and she passed on her skills to you.

😮 as an english learner I memorized this sounds and had no idea about this rule. What happens with the word "live" it has to different pronunciations depending if the word is a verb or an adjective. The rule does not apply.

Yes, you are correct, "live" follows the rule for the adjective, but not for the verb.
