LOL, embracing another culture with a conversation string attached. Why did they change their daughter's name from Indian to a Christian if they embraced daughter culture? Christian missionaries destroyed other cultures in the name of religion. Christian is helping other and expect conversation.

Well if you don’t understand how it’s not then I don’t know what to say. If you don’t understand what a beautiful life they are giving to Katie and not only accepting her but her culture which is the integral part of who she is then I have nothing to say .They don’t have to celebrate Indian festivals among themselves but they do , goes to show at-least some of us that there are some incredible people in this world. They do some amazing things that others don’t have the guts to. 🙏🏼

The essence of Raksha Bandhan is for brother to be a protective shield of his sister(s) and vice-versa. As a sister grows up to have a family of her own the Raksha Bandhan ties assures her that brother(s) are her protective shield (along with her hubby). Yes , a woman is strong enough to fend for her self but then what is life without familial bonds? and this festival celebrates the special brother-sister bond.

Actually First reference comes from Matasya Purana, where Mother Goddess Sati ties a protective thread(Raksha sutra) around God Vishnu which protected God Vishnu against the attacks when he go to fight against Hirnakshaya. Later Devi Santa used to tie thread around the hands of Lord Rama , Lakshman, Bharat and Satruhan whenever they were going in war against Asuras. But reference of protecting sister and her interest comes from Epic of Mahabharat, about Sri Krishna and his sister Draupdi. Draupdi ties Rakhi around Krisnas hand to protect Pandvas in Kurukshetra war.

At first -Red roli is put by sister using ring finger of right hand , then sister ties rakhi on brothers hand then she feeds him sweets and he feeds her back , then brother gives her sister gift , basically by tieing rakhi brother is giving promise to her sister to protect her in any situation , and sister prays for her brothers long healthy life And it can be celebrated by any age group , my grand ma still ties rakhi to her brother Happy rakshabandhan❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ love from India ❤
