I met him at a signing and the only thing I said to him was "What's it like sitting at a table covered in your own pictures?" And he smiled and put his hand up to the side of his face and said "I just look the other way" also got a picture with him which was signed.
This is just a prime example of how a crowd at a panel in a Convention Q&A will become one large entity and the person on stage will begin just having casual small talk with that entity as if it's perfectly normal. It's so much fun, especially if you're in the front row and the actor starts to bounce off of your facial expessions and mannerisms, you really feel part of the moment. It's that ol' convention magic! <3
As a hearing impaired person, seeing him turn to the sign language translator as a metric for determining coolness was EVERYTHING! Actually brought a little tear to my eye. I know everything that I need to know about a celebrity by the way they interact with sign language interpreters at public events. Most don't even acknowledge their existence. Turning to them and engaging them and asking for input in a conversation with the audience is something I hardly ever see. He is a rare gem.
Fun Fact: What David is talking about in the beginning, about how he picks up accents pretty quickly. It's called Audio Chameleonism. Not everyone can do it well, some people do it without realizing.
I met David and he is amazing. My girlfriend gave him a drawing she did and he said she was very talented. We talked about his podcast too. A sweet, amazing guy. Wish we could have talked to him longer but the queue for him was rather long so we had to move on.
Whoever hosted this doesn't know how to roll with something. Tennant was having a BLAST about this, because he clearly talks about Doctor Who ALL THE TIME. This was something unique and fun.
