feeling like i have to comment as a french follower of yours (sorry for my frenglish in advance) : - chips in sandwich (or do you mean chips sandwich?) are not really a thing i think, but people usually eat them as a "side dish" with sandwich (typically on long car road), so i guess peoples (me include) tried to put them inside the sandwich at least once, as an experimental misunderstood creative cook. But it's not really something. Also, as i'm not sure if i get what ya talking about, you can do a chips sandwich, when you put something (cheese usually) between two chips, like the chips is bread. Usually done by kids and bored adults while taking the Apéritif (french word for a french tradition, the croustilles de belin are typically made to be eaten at the apéritif for example). But it's kind of childish to do so (but who cares ? Aperitif are boring) Just don't do this thinking you'll amaze peoples around you lol. Guess you already know that. - The shell shaped ~moist~ cakes are called "madeleine". Never understood the hype with these things personnally. I really liked the petits oursons as a kid, it's been a long time since the last one i ate. The others sweet biscuits are too sugar to me. - For the candys, well, the big brand in France is Haribo, i know that the fraises tagada and crocodiles are really liked (soft candy with gelatine), as well as the dragibus (aka the teethglueballs) . - I'd say what was missing was maybe milka chocolate, which seems quite popular. Compotes (stewed fruits ?), and others biscuits thing you probably have in germany as well, as we can find them in Aldis. Or french viennoiseries but it has to be fresh so it's kind of complicated. For the salty snacks, Curly's, but i don't know if you have it already in your country. You had a great selection anyway, thanks to the french fellas who sent you this. - I'm curious about snacks in north countries :) Norway, Iceland or Finland or others. Well, you speak little french pretty good actually, nice accent. It always amazes me that peoples actually learn this language (which is an overly and unnecessarily complicated one imo.). My mission is complete. Have a good evening everyone !

Which country has the best candy and/or snacks? Hmmm.....I’m not sure as I like quite a lot of what I’ve had from different places and feel like there’s definitely some flavors and textures of snacks from various places that can fit my moods or interest at any given moment. Sometimes I want something sweet. Sometimes I want something sour or fruity. Sometimes I want salty or savory. I think the snacks/candy that isn’t American (I’m American living in America) that I’ve eaten a lot of are Indian, Nepalese, Mexican, Thai, Korean, and Panamanian ones, but that’s mostly because I have friends that live here in my state that are from those places and either have shared brand name, store bought type snacks/candies or have shared homemade snacks/candies. I don’t really like the spicy snacks/candies, but I like a lot of the sweet, salty, and fruit flavored ones (except mango or cherry flavored things, I’m not a fan of artificial mango or cherry flavored things...yet am fine eating the actual fruits or having the juices from the actual fruit like in a mango lassi a friend of mine likes to make! Also if you ever get homemade Indian chai tea or homemade Thai sweet tea it’s way better than anything I’ve ever bought! At least that’s been my experience with friends is that the ones they make at home are so much better tasting!)

Honestly, for someone who just learned French in high school (alongside English I assume) and stopped using French afterwards, you're doing great, respect. I can't remember any Spanish I took from high school, maybe because I hated every second of it. I only took English seriously, as it was the only mandatory language (you had the choice between several languages for your second studied language, thinking about it I would have probably prefered German or Japanese). Btw those Bret's chips with that particular cheese are my favorites chips ever. I didn't expect to see it here as so many flavors exist, nice.

1. Weird... a french company from Brittany (Bretagne) calling their chips "Fromage du Jura" (which is a region next to the swiss border)... probabely they intend to refer to the famous Comté cheese (without mentioning it's name for legal reasons) which comes from jura...btw it's pronounced Jüüraa ;-) 2. OMD (Oh mon dieu = OMG) how I love french chips! Fun fact: I can remember a brand naming their product "Blondes Croquantes".... which literally means "Crispy Blondes" :-D 3. Talking about Brands... LU was once merged with the netherland company deBeukelaer. "Lulu" is also a kind of pet/nick name for the name Ludovig/Ludwig, cause the french tend to double the first syllable of a name (e.g. Belbel for J.P. Belmondo) as a nickname...and it's pronounced Lüülüü. ;-) 4. Testing the Bonne Maman "tartlets" I was disapointed too...sizewise. I had the lemon cake tartelettes which is an iconic item in french bakeries and my top fav desert.. la fameuse tarte au citron meringuée (a sweet crust based lemon curd filing with a soft, but slightly flamed meringue topping). You should definetely give them a try too...available in german supermarkets. 5. Crepes dentelles are a classic! Some pastry recipes call for crushed crepes dentelles, mixed with a nutella like paste (creme praliné) and used as layer (or bottom) in cakes. Phil, you should know a similar treat from Bahlsen...the rolled-up wafles covered on one side in dark chocolate... it's basicly the same principle ;-) 6. About the Palmitos: This type of treat is a classic too, called in general palmiers (lit: palm trees)...and Phil: didn't you recognize the shape of these "Schweineohren" as they're called in Germany...??? 7. Deanah: There's no such concept like a lunch box in France. French shool kids will not know what this is, because they eat their lunch at the local cantine...full three course meal ;-) 8. Just watch the movie Transporter (Part 1), when the asian girl bakes Madeleines for Frank. They are AFAK a typical sunday morning breakfast item, best when home made. I guess in nearly every french kitchen you'll find a baking tray for madeleines...basicly the french muffin. 9. On the same side (doughwise) like madeleines is my favorite french treat called frangipane (look out for the stuff from the brand Lotus). Frangipane is also an almond paste (french marzipan) used for a puff pastry cake served at epiphany (gateaux des rois / kings cake). 10. Did you see the name/claim on the sablet's bag? "Un zeste de bonheur" means "A zest of luck" ;-)) Good luck to you guys...

@brigittelacour5055 3 года назад
The crisp from Brittany were first called "chips au Comté" but there was legal issues as Comté is an AOP cheese and it was, if I remember, mixed with other cheese like Emmenthal. It's safer with Jura cheese. Jura is the mountain between France and Swisserland, it's also a French department, the 39, in the south of Jura mountain, and it's a Swiss canton too.

The Tartelettes are available at my local Edeka in Hamburg. And a lot more from Bon Maman. *Not an Advert* ;) It's somehow a standart here :D

The treat that looked like a shell is called a Madeleine; they're available in some of the upscale supermarkets in the US, but the ones they produce in France are so much better. And Bonne Maman also makes a variety of other products including marmalades and chocolate mousse. I'd heard of their tartelettes, but had only tried the raspberry ones - I'll put the chocolate and caramel one on my "must try" list.

Hello ! French here ! Michel et Augustin make sweet biscuits to eat with coffee but also savory ones to eat as "aperitif" (savory snacks and soda/alcohol eaten before dinner) so it seems to me that you had a savory kind and not a candy

8:01 😂 and 10:39 Deana looks like re-enacting Virgin Mary in the stable at christmas time with blue head attire there. Yes, Deana looks good with boho indie attire (and yes, they make headbands and beaded jewel headpieces) but ... not sure if this red white blue ribbon does the trick 😂 she could pretend it's for 4th of july. 😉 That's a great idea for upcoming video; what do americans eat on 4th of july ? Bbq with potato salad ? Hamburgers ? Maybe Deana has some dishes from her family she would like to share 🙂 Phil doing karate noises at 11:21 😂 Also: at 11:26 Phil said Sacré-Cœur 💒🏩 for the heart-shaped palmiers ♥️ which (in my opinion) they should rename them P.S. gôut means flavor. And it's sicilian lemon because Sicily has the best citrus produce in the world. Like blood oranges (sanguinello) that are better than the Spanish ones.

Bonne Maman as well as Michel et Augustin products are really good, and it makes sense because all the ingredients are naturals and of good quality, real butter, no palm oil, I'm an addict of their products.

These recent snack videos just give me the nostalgia that you 2 tried German snacks and candies before not gonna lie 😅 you 2 won't be ready for some snacks from Georgia for example: churchkhela (Georgian "snicker" made out of grape juice and Various of nuts) also WHY grape juice? Cause we love a glass of wine every now and then 😏🍷 Hope everyone is healthy and save ❤️

What about testing different teas, herb, fruit, black, green, white, etc. I think here in germany we have a lot different ones, going from cheap bagged ones (imo they don't taste very good) over better quality bagged ones to some heavy priced ones. But I don't know if Deana is really a Tea-person. You could do something similar with coffee. Maybe only different german brands, or some internatinal ones compared.
@rureal7742
@rureal7742 3 года назад
great idea. I think in one of their Christmas video Deana mentioned getting a Advent calendar with different tea so she probably is a tea person.
@winterschmied4583
@winterschmied4583 3 года назад
@@rureal7742 I saw this video, but in the next ones only Phil drank tea, Deana always had a coffee. So I think she may drink tea, but not very often, so this may be another challenge like "Blutwurst" or "Mett" 😉🤷
