I Like AG dolls better than our generation dolls but they are cheaper and the clothes and accessories are very cute and cheap but AGs is very expensive!
I am 36 and from NZ, so we don't get American girl dolls here, but even as an adult I love OG dolls and have some! Little girl at heart! I loved visiting the American girl store when visiting!
I personally have preference for OG dolls because I find them aesthetically cuter and their facial sculpts more unique and doll-like. The open mouths with the teeth on AG dolls weird me out for some reason, and they are on most AG dolls. The AG bodies are superior in my opinion since they have ball joints at the shoulders and legs while OG does not have that (except for the OG articulated ballerina dolls with the elbow, wrist, knee, and ankle joints). And I find it hard to justify paying for AG accessories, clothing, or furniture because of its high price point and the fact that OG accessory and clothing sets often come with more pieces. OG also has less specificly themed items, so they are more versitile in my opinion. And I know that many people will disagree with me and that I am in the minority here, but I consider myself more of an OG collector than any other 18" doll line. There is just something appealing to me about them and I can't help but find them adorable. I also love the amount of red-haired dolls in the OG line and personally wish that other 18" doll lines would have more red-haired characters.
I highly suggest our generation dolls to people who can't afford the ag stuff. And I definitely recommend the ballerina doll and just change the clothes just wish they had more options.
I only have 2 OG dolls and I love them but i don’t think they should be treated any different than AG dolls honestly if I had to pick between OG used doll or a AG used doll maybe OG but it depends on what that doll looks like 👍🏻 but yea
I personally prefer the dolls from AG (just because of the way they look). And for sets, I like both! I think both brands are great! This is also a really interesting video idea!
I prefer og dolls, they're available where I live and prices are reasonable, if AG is actually caring about kids and their entertainment, they would know that kids would prefer a whole hoard of dolls rather than maybe just getting one on your birthday, I have 8 og dolls and only 1 ag doll (because of the price of shipping)
okay but talking about quality - ag dolls definitely win for their price. i see so many dolls in such good condition after 30 YEARS! not saying og dolls are the worst in quality i have both myself.
I disagree with you - you’re actually promoting mindless consumerism and its destruction of the environment. For a kid it’s better to have less dolls and more clothes and stuff for the ones they have. I didn’t have a hoard of dolls when I was a kid but my neighbors taught me to knit and sew, and I would make clothes for them.
Ag dolls in my opinion are more of a collectors item, and the stores are so thought out in terms of the experience, but I love OG doll prices and they definitely are better for kids. In terms of sets of I love them both equally
I honestly prefer the AG dolls and clothes because I find it better quality but as for furniture it is tied because they are both so realistic and cute although I have been collecting Our Generation furniture for longer. This was such a cool idea!!!
I mostly have Our Generation dolls, clothes, and accessories. I personally prefer ag dolls over og dolls, but for accessories, they are basically the same thing but the og brand is cheaper.
I love in the UK so Designafriend is my favourite 18inch doll line. They recently added way more diversity to the dolls. I have only had one our generation product but since they are cheaper and American girls have had some problems with accuracy, also I thought they were very creepy at first I prefer out generation. But I found a site to get them to the UK so maybe one day I will get some sets and a doll from both to compare.
I think if the kids are younger, OG is great. I was "older" when I got my first 18 inch doll, 10, almost 11, so I was a bit more responsible to take care of a more expensive doll. Plus with AG dolls being the dominant brand to see on social media, it's the one I was most attracted to. But for accessories and furniture I love OG
I've just recently started doll collecting and when I was going through different lines to see which ones to add to my wishlist, I was really surprised to see how much I preffered OG to AG. I think there's like two AG girls that are on my list but when going through OG there were SO many that I liked. AG was just one blonde doll after another.
What? I have a pretty extensive AG collection and most of my dolls aren’t blonde, I don’t know where you got that impression. I have AG dolls in every single skin tone. I love the OG mold’s face it’s gorgeous, but the doll itself and the clothes are not as good quality as AG and the dolls are rooted instead of wigged. Although I guess you could cut off all their hair and wig them if you want. Some of the OG dolls have pretty crappy hair, and others have good hair. I have several of the OG mini-dolls they’re super cute, but none of the 18” OG dolls yet. Maybe one day, it’s just that 18” dolls take a lot of room so I’ll have to choose carefully.
Gosh I love og sets!!! They are so cute! And great big ticket sets!!! Also about the stuff that are separate for the clothes I have a white collared top with a dress sewed on to it so I kinda wish it was separate 😭 though it's so cute!!!!
American girl dolls look like chipmunks in the face to be honest and they all look the same kind of i like there accesories but i really love our generation wayyy better way prettier dolls that have way more selection and accesories are amazing!i think people just like american girl more cause its nastolgic to them and cost more .

I prefer AG Dolls, OG Accessories (AG is great quality- but out of my budget), clothes I prefer AG but also like several OG outfits and MY life. (So really depends on outfit.)
@@AllycatlovesAG My Life clothing is super cheap (made). Thin material and terrible sewing. The only thing I have that is ML is the purple hat that is a cat design so I don't know how it fits. Even though the clothing is only $10 per outfit you can find much better made clothing on Amazon or Etsy. For example Emily Rose has 5 pastel t-shirts for about $15 which makes them about $3 each. I sew and it's easy to make an elastic waist skirt from a Fat Quarter (that amount makes 2 skirts) for 97 cents. So for $4 you can have a cute outfit that is much better than anything My Life has. Also, you have to be careful with Our Generation clothing as I find some of it too tight for AG. An example is the vet outfit. I bought that outfit because I liked the animal print top but it is really tight on my AG dolls. The pants fit though. I only buy the looser clothing that is OG like the bathrobes. The pjs that come with them, some are very tight. It's the tops mostly that are tight.

@@AllycatlovesAG I've never seen the My Life couch. I make my own from foam board, hot glue, batting, and cotton cloth. Cheap to make but take a lot of time to make.
I find the OG doll sculpt is pretty (the one with the slight smile) I’ve looked at them often on the Target website and even picked out some I would buy, but I can’t seem to pull the trigger on getting one. I have two dozen AG dolls, and idk I guess I’m afraid of being disappointed with an OG. When I started collecting AG I came from the BJD world where every single thing on a doll is customizable, so I expect much of the same with other doll types. I love buying busted up AG dolls and bringing them back to like new. My husband helps me restring them, rip off the ruined wigs and pierce their ears, and I put on the new wigs and paint their faces. It’s very gratifying, and you can get a busted AG doll for like $20 so that’s probably part of why I’m not in a hurry to get an OG doll. I actually have several OG mini dolls! The Lori dolls. They’re adorable. A little bit bigger than the AG mini dolls. They have the same sculpt as the 18” OG dolls, and a variety of skin tones and hair colors.
I personally like og better than American girl dolls, mostly because i only have one American girl doll, and 7 our generation dolls, also all my sets are OG. But I think both are great brands
I have to say that I prefer AG to OG if you are looking for quality that will last a long time, and is restorable. I use to repair and restore 18" dolls, and other older dolls for a thrift store, and with all the dolls I did I think 3 AG dolls needed wig replacement out of fifty who looked in really bad shape. OG dolls were a disaster waiting to happen. Hair falling apart, or hair so tangled it took weeks to fix, stains that even acne cream couldn't get out and in general with more damage to limbs. Most of those bendable dolls eventually become misshapen sadly. I was always happy if i got a doll that just needed a spongebath and boilwash, or hair brush. They were very far between . It is a shame because it doesn't teach girls to take care of their dolls if they become hopeless tangled from just sleeping with them and light play. I know this as moms would talk when I was putting dolls on the shelf, and I would tell them what to get to keep dolls nice. This also goes for Wal-Mart MyLife and Battat dolls which were wigged. As to clothes and shoes it depends on which era/generation and which store you buy them from on wether they can be recommended when they are not AG. Though I do find AG clothing expensive so either buy secondhand or wait for a sale. As for furniture and accessories it really depends on money, watching sales, second-hand market and plain luck.
One of the reasons I way prefer AG dolls themself is because as a kid their hair was far easier to take care of then OG hair which frays and will not untangle ever once it does once. And I also prefer the look of ag although I wish ag had more diversity
To me I prefer AG dolls but I like both of the sets the reason why I prefer AG dolls is because my friend has an OG doll and the hair came out a lot but when it comes to American girl dolls the only way that hair comes out(which it usually doesn’t) is if you brush it’s hair but OG dolls hair comes out a lot easier. I only have two OG dolls and their boys. But the one thing that I like about OG dolls better is that they are usually cheaper. By the way this was a great video keep up the amazing work!
I have both AG and OG dolls but I have no AG clothes (except the ones the dolls came in) or accessories. The big difference for me is price so if AG was cheaper I would probably have only AG stuff.
For me, I collect AG dolls and OG sets. I personally think the AG dolls are higher quality and just look better, but OG sets are really good. I don’t own an AG set besides a welliewishers one and I really see no difference with my OG sets. I have AG and OG clothes, and the shoes I have from OG fit my AG dolls. I like both, but if you don’t have the kind of money for AG, OG is definitely the way to go.
I find the og faces to be cheaper looking and a bit scary. But that’s just me. I honestly think you get what you pay for and ag dolls and furniture are worth it to me. The smaller stuff packs for og are okay but I still prefer the ag. Also the pets from og are so small that it’s not properly proportionate to the doll. Og clothing works well though! I buy a lot of it and it’s a bit thinner but they work.
I mostly have our generation dolls, clothes accesories and more because I live in Australia but I do definitely prefer American girl doll stuff more. I have 2 American girl dolls and whenever I film a stop motion OG and my AG’s the OG’s look so weird, and different. Lastly, our generation shoes do not fit on American girl doll feet, don’t try and push the foot into the shoe because it will not go in. Anyways, love your content :)
I recently got my first American girl doll. I already had in our generation doll and some flat shoes. We are generation, flat shoes, fit American girl! FYI, the doll I got is a Rebecca Rubin from 2009 to 2014.
IYes the flats do fit and I also have boots from them that fit as well even velcro flats so I’m not really sure how much of a difference the width is. If you aren’t getting the boots on then you’re not pushing hard enough. They will go in. In my expiration OG can be very detailed in some of their accessory sets, it just depends what you want. Most of my furniture isn’t AG either, however AG does have a pool set and their camping set specifically the platform tent collection. So it just depends what you want, here again. I understand that their price isn’t justified because I agree with that, however depending on what it is I will buy it from AG since OG just doesn’t make that. I don’t know if you’ve heard of my life as but I also have a bunch of pieces from them as well. I use both of these companies outfits and shoes on my American Girl dolls, thee clothing fits easily and the shoes just require a bit of effort. I’ve never not been able to get those shoes on the doll though. I will also choose American Girl dolls over OG dolls for to main reasons. Firstly they have way firmer bodies which I love and their hair I’ve heard is way better quality. You can’t use OG sprays and stuff on AG hair it will ruin it because AG hair is better quality. Also I would expect OG hair to eventually pull out a bunch because it’s rooted in their heads instead of a wig. With Barbie’s their hair comes out really easily so J would expect it to be the same for OG dolls. I also think Ag dolls look a lo5 more realistic, this includes their face mold. Ag does have a bunch of variety throughout the years they just don’t keep all of them. Plus they do have the create your own line where you can choose from Al, the different options they have ever used for their dolls and more. So you can create what ever you want and be like what OG has which I loved when that came out. You can make your doll as unique as you want. Then AG makes that doll for you with your design and also clothing and accessories pack choice that is included and sends her to you.That is why I don’t have an OG doll and never will because AG will always be superior with everything in the doll.

What I love most about OG is the variety of clothing/looks etc. The movie theatre is amazing. But I love how AG dolls look so I'm sticking with them :)
I have 24 AG dolls, and the vast majority of them cost me less than $40 pre-owned. All I had to do was wash their hair and rub a magic eraser on the vinyl to clean them. I only have about 6 dolls that I bought new-to-me. American Girl has been around for almost 40 years, so there’s a zillion dolls, outfits and play sets for sale on various resale platforms.
Wigs are a million times better because you can replace them as much as you want. Several of my AG dolls are bald and I put on whatever wig I want depending on the look I’m going for. Wigs are so much fun for customization.
I personally prefer American girl dolls because I like the way they look better and they’re much better quality in my opinion. I also prefer the doll clothes since og pants have dyed my dolls legs before so I now I try not to buy it from them. But for accessories and all that I like both! most of the time I get accessories and furniture from og just because it’s cheaper and like you said you get a lot more for your money! very interesting video Ally! I love the different face molds that our generation dolls have but theres something about the way the dolls body is made that I don't really like so i've never justified getting one. I collect AG dolls and really enjoy them as i'm very indecisive and often change their wigs and eyes.
i prefer ag dolls since i do stopmotion and i record them in video plus ag dolls can reach outward and my og doll and my og doll looks orange on camera

I dont have have a OG doll but my younger sister does I prefer AG dolls they are just better quality and they don't squish but the OG dolls do food wise I like OG I don't really care about detail and furniture I will have to go with AG furniture I just like it better
My parents couldn’t afford AG so they got me an OG and after a few months the hair became nappy and I couldn’t even style it anymore. As a little girl I was heartbroken. For this reason I will always prefer AG for the dolls
@@AllycatlovesAGwrecked AG dolls are easier to bring back from the dead though. My husband and I have fun restringing vintage AG dolls and making them new. Wigs are easy to replace. If someone is not a DIY person they can send their doll to the doll hospital which isn’t an option for OG dolls.
OG flats do fit AG dolls… but I do have one pair of OG sandals that don’t fit. I think it’s because they have a back and you can’t fit the dolls foot in it. I also have a pair of OG flip flops that don’t fit the AG dolls because the AG dolls feet are to wide, like you said. 😊
Wow I love this video it is so cool to see both brands being compared in my opinion I prefer dolls form Ag and most clothes but other accessories I like og more the prices are better and they look more realistic
price of the og dolls are definitely better but for quality i would pick ag - as in iv seen many ag dolls in amazing contain after 30 YEARS! not saying og is the worst quality but after a while i don’t think og dolls with survive for very long! (not syainf it’s impossible) og hair is honestly bad in my opinion though.
I'm not a collecter and actually don't own any doll stuff anymore but I was definitely a doll kid and while I didn't have a lot of things from either brand (the walmart dolls had the cheapest stuff so that's what I got) I actually found the opposite shoe problem, I did only have our generation flats which cold be the difference but they were always loose and has a tendency to fall off my american girl doll's feet. As for other doll brands the my life as (walmart dolls) also had too big shoes and I had some doll things from Sears as well before it closed and all the 18 inch doll stuff from there was too small to fit properly on my dolls except for the dresses.
I want to make a follow up with my life products but it’s much harder to compare as I don’t own any my life items currently and I have way more experience and variety of OG products
@@AllycatlovesAG that’s a great idea, I suggest reaching out to people with my life things. From my experience the clothes and smaller accessories tend to be a little lesser quality then OG and AG and a lot more childish they definitely have much more of a focus on play than collecting which makes sense for a Walmart line. My life dolls I have no experience with but the actual furniture pieces are great quality for the price in my opinion.
I agree from what I’ve seen. That’s why I’ve never purchased my life. There are some furniture items I like but I know if I buy a doll I will never use it
I prefer American girl over our generation dolls because as a gay 19 year old I’ve always loved an admired American girl dolls they are more beautiful an just over all amazing quality an a bite better an easier to customize as for OG there dolls creep my out a little don’t get me wrong some of them are cute like the one that was in this video.
@@AllycatlovesAG We mostly have AG and OG, but my life did an Autism doll, so we had to get her! Also, if you browse the website, My Life has cute sets! We have the bathroom and the adorable Avocado saucer chair! They also have a living room set with a working lamp and a “tv” stand that can hold your cellphone.🙂
Overall I perfer AG but I love that there are other brands like OG and definitely buy from them. I don't like most of the OG dolls, for an "off brand" I like the look of My Life As dolls (walmart brand) a bit better.
I really like this doll because she has very nimble hands and feet, big eyes that are very bright, like she understands me, very smooth skin, beautiful clothes and lovely shoes.
I think American girl's problem is the website, it is so hard to navigate, when I started collecting I spent all my time on there website, and I wish they would make it easier to shop.
Walmart has best version called call my life a little cheaper for the dolls they only want 22 dollars My generation for the dolls 29.99 American girl dolls want 200 for the dolls Walmart wins ✌️

I prefer Ag for everything. I like the looks of the doll better. I only have AG dolls, but I do have our generation accessories. OG stuff doesn’t always fit on my dolls so I prefer AG
I've found that the OG tops are too tight on my AG dolls. AG is also better made but about twice as much in cost. I only buy the looser OG outfits like the bathrobes. The pj tops are too tight but the pants fit. I only have one pair of OG sneakers and they fit AG. I bought them because they are different. Pastel colored strips instead of a solid color. I buy the doll shoes from Amazon. Different companies and most well made (for the price).
