I kind of love how universally disliked Julie's Beforever meet outfit is lol. Also, I laughed so hard at the image of Julie cracking her knuckles as she arrives to "handle things" at the arcade. I'm really glad you decided to participate in AGFashionWeek and generally happy the event is being so well-received.
I feel like I hate more and more every day. I redressed her as soon as she arrived, so I like to pretend it doesn’t exist. She should put on her pinball outift and track down whoever designed it… And thanks for orchestrating this! It’s been a lot of fun

Awesome , thanks for sharing . I have Ivy, and her meet outfit, but I usually put white tights under it, because when got them those green paints stained her legs , I had to send her into the hospital. They didn’t charge me, but a headache nonetheless.
Do you find her collection authentic? I love hearing about that from collectors who were there, if you know what I mean. BeForever outift aside, I feel like she’s got such an amazing wardrobe 🥰🫠
I am a fan of Julie, although I don't have the doll. I was a teenager in the 70's and the purple pants WERE called gauchos in those days! The boots were just like the Frye boots that we wore then {very popular like Uggs a few years ago} I love your collection and your beautiful displays! I was a display artist working in NYC in my mid 20's and my mannequins were kind of like my dolls that I dressed in the newest fashions. Your displays remind me of that wonderful time in my life. I only have 8 American Girl dolls including the Molly I bought for my daughter. I began collecting because I hope my 2yr old granddaughter will love them as I do. She is too young to handle them now though.
That’s such a perfect comparison, like setting up mannequins. What a cool job that must’ve been. And yes, do not let your granddaughter at them yet lol. My niece is 10, and she still can’t touch my dolls. BUT! I do buy her plenty we can play with together. She just ruins them within minutes ☠️🫠
I was a teenager in the 70's too. I try to explain the fashions to my 14-year-old granddaughter and her eyes just glaze over! I do love Julie's collection and recently got Ivy who I never planned on buying but couldn't pass up for the price. She's darling.

My childhood was spent in the 70’s. I do remember the term gauchos being used. When I looked it up today it describes gauchos as being a word for Mexican cowboys. The more consistent term with current results in a search is “culottes”. I have a picture of myself at 9 or 10 (77 or 78) wearing culottes and a cowl neck shirt.

I’m so glad that I own Ivy. I have Julie’s outfits for her. I have the first 2 outfits and the Pinball one . They are absolutely gorgeous . Definitely get the accessories for the casual outfit. So stinking cute.

I have some of Julie’s outfits for my CYO mini me. The pants in the dog walking outfit are culottes. The calico dress with the boots and bandana top are really cute on 47! The jumpsuit is totally cool on 58! I would love to add a few more of her outfits to my collection. My expensive wish list outfit from Julie’s collection is her Disco dress and accessories. I am doing Fashion Week on Instagram. I have a RU-vid account with a few slide format videos, but no fashion week.

I have that coat in the original box and I don't have a hat for it I think. And I think that holiday dress had clogs maybe? Not those shoes that were giving you a hard time, again I think. I just remember some velveteen clogs. Mind you its been many years ago but I still think she had some purplish clogs. You sold me again, I have a Julie but now I want some of those outfits! I love Julies collection but wont even dream about the skate board outfit. Nice upgrade on the clothing rack. My favorite outfit is the pinball outfit. I like her boots but my favorite sandal for her are the brown ones that come with her halter dress. The purple jacket and hat are everything. Those were good prices. I usually put the jacket on with the pinball outfit. I also use a shirt under the vest plain white t-shirt. I like the roller sing outfit especially the socks. You have to almost unlace the entire roller skate to get them on I have decided I don't want Julie's bike and I am going to get more of Melody's collection. congratulations on Ivy. I have Ivy but I am missing her meet boots. I don't want to pay 30 dollars for doll boots so if you hear of anyone selling them for less please let me know if you remember. Oh yeah the jacket would look really good with the pinball outfit! One day I’ll look for more of her outifts - and my eyes are peeled (and fingers are crossed) for Ivy’s rainbow romper. A coin!! Haha I didn’t want to stop filming to figure it out. Ahhhhhh, so glad you were able to get an Ivy!!! She's such a sweet doll. Love this overview of Julie stuff. Julie's collection is not my fav (as it turns out, the 70s aesthetic is just not it for me), but I can appreciate how cohesive it is. Well. Pre-Beforever, for the most part (there are some really nice Beforever pieces, but several that look a little too costumey for my taste). Loved seeing the looks on the doll. Thanks for sharing!

I have definitely been neglecting my Julie, in part because her original outfits are expensive. I think the red AG shirt did make the beforever outfit cuter! My fave is that tunic with the red tights. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Blaine, I Love the floral outfit too. She looks adorable. I like the 70’s style as I was a pre teen during that time and wore bell bottom pants and florals and hair scarves. My Mom had orange everywhere in our house! That red and white outfit is giving me Shirley Partridge vibes. I love her in the purple coat. So cute!
Do you feel like her outfits are authentic to the period? And more importantly, what do you think of her BeForever outfit? 😂 I feel like I hate it more and more as time goes by, especially because she has so many amazing outfits aside from it. When I picture the 1970s, I picture the colors of reeses pieces lol.
@@DisBlaine I do think Julie's outfits are authentic to the period for the most part. Her original meet outfit is actually something I would have worn. The beforever outfit is too bright, and the vest is terrible. There were crocheted and macramé things in more muted tones. The jeans with the strips of fabric to make them bell-bottoms were a thing and were always homemade. They were not purchased that way!

Just as an fyi, Ivy’s green pants can stain, so take care and don’t leave them on her. Also, Ivy and Elizabeth came with gold stud earrings. They can turn the dolls ears green around the earring hole. To combat that, AG started putting the plugs in the ears of those 2 dolls. My son’s Elizabeth predates that change, so I just coated Elizabeth’s earrings in clear fingernail polish and gave had no issue. The 70’s aesthetic isn’t one that I enjoy so I don’t collect for it, but I sure enjoyed seeing your collection and congratulations on getting an ivy!

Yeah it happened for me, so you can find Ivy one day too. I can’t say she was a good price necessarily lol but she was in perfect condition, so I’m happy with her. As for Kit… I only have her meet outift, so it wouldn’t be much of a fashion show 😵💫🤣
You just amaze me. You held the diner for a long long time until you got it to the place where you wanted it to be. I’m sure that Ivy has been on your wishlist for a very long time and of course you are correct. She is quite pricey there is no way just no way I could ever hang onto a new doll for two weeks without shouting it from the rooftops. You are a very patient man I could ask just one thing of you do not be so negative about yourself you’re a wonderful human being you care about the doll world and what happens in it. we all make mistakes. You’re just such a charming man that I don’t want to see you beat yourself up over little minor miss steps everything looked great. I think I told you in another email that Julie is on her way to me and I am pretty excited about it and I felt the need to get Kit. now all I have to do is choose a doll that does not have blue eyes and blonde hair so that people don’t think that’s all I collect. @@barbarawalsh2875 yes! This one was hard to sit on for a couple weeks! The diner I knew would be a lot of work, so I was procrastinating if I’m honest 🤣 Ivy was worth the wait tho! I remember having a lot of fun recording this video, seeing Julie in her different outifts and finally opening Ivy. I don’t remember if I was negative about myself in this video, but I know when my vids get long, I start to feel pressure. Or was it her tights? Haha that was an intense moment, but also funny.
This is gonna sound kind of strange, so bear with me. When my ex and I got married, we were married in an orthodox church and generally they wrap flowers of wreathes around your heads. Well, when I looked at what you were tying around Julie‘s head, I was immediately transported back to that very very hot August day. It was 103° out I’m not even joking the priest who were supposed to marry us got lost on the way of coming down from Racine Wisconsin, my parents were just about losing their minds. In retrospect and I’ve got 40 years of retrospect those priests not showing up on time was probably a sign that I did not pay attention to that when you put that beaded dressing around Julie‘s head it immediately reminded me of my wedding, I won’t hold it against Julie.
I loved this video! And please don’t feel like you’re rambling or anything like that that’s part of the whole attraction to different RU-vidrs videos, it’s different personality types and I enjoy watching many people and now I’m adding you to my list. By the way, tomorrow, May 1 is Julie‘s birthday, and I am planning a birthday party for her And I will post on my RU-vid channel or Instagram depending on how quickly I can get it done and how much free time I have to put it together and share it. If I don’t have much time, it will go on Instagram. If I have some time, I’ll upload it to RU-vid. Anyway, I love this video!
