Every year some people on agig make homophobic posts and get called out and cancelled for it, but it has never made the news before. RU-vid is a lot more individual then agig, so even though I am sure homophobic agtubers exist (some were in that collab post), pride just isn’t talked about as much on agtube

Brown eyes, and the skin tone of Z. :-) his name is Tommy and he plays guitar and his accessories are all band tees and skinny jeans with mini converse. He has 12 different hats, half of which are visor beanies. His body has visible top surgery scars. And he is 19.
It sucks that AG doesn't have more forms of representation but I did really admire the fact that the published a book talking about body image and gender dysmorphia. These are important issues that a lot of trans people struggle with, but is never addressed in society.
as a member of the community myself, when i found out about Kira's moms i literally cried tears of joy. also i doubt it'll ever happen but i have a concept goty with an older sibling who is non-binary because i am myself :) happy Pride to my fellow queer ag fans!!! -Ceci (they/them)
I am openly Bi and this video made me smile so much im so happy that people are now more accepting and share things like this so thank you so much from a person in the LGBTQ+ community
You’re welcome! It’s a bit scary as LGBTQ+ isn’t discussed as much on agtube compared to agig, and even though I know that most people including myself support the community, there will always be comments from people against it. I’ve been checking comments every few minutes to make sure nothing gets too wild, but I think as one of the bigger voices in the agtube community it is important to talk about these things and educate people. Glad you enjoyed!
I'm glad they updated the non-fiction books to be more inclusive, that's a great step in the right direction. I think a doll who is trans would be awesome. I always chuckle over Coconut.

Omg, I didn't even realize that Kira's aunts were gay. I legitimately thought that she somehow got both sides of her families to live with her. I also have never owned Kira and am just going off of things I saw on their website and snippets of the book. Kids would've never noticed it and if they did, just don't make a big deal. The fact that the conservative moms are creating a mountain out of a mole hill and giving it such a negative connotation really breaks my heart. As someone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community, we don't have an agenda for kids. We would just like people to know we exist and treat us with respect. That's all.
Also wanted to add there was a monthly magazine that came from American girl and they had stories from real life and there was this one girl who was adopted with all of her siblings by two gay men it's pretty small but my mom made sure to make a big deal about it 😂🙄
I think it would be cool if one of the dolls was trans, and the book was about the trans experience and coming out to their parents or friends. That would be so cool and would be a huge step for the community!

@@PinkPengwin people don't just wake up one day and decide to be trans, just like they don't just wake up one day and decide to be gay, lesbian or bi. Trans children don't get surgeries. The regret rate of transition is less than 1%.
Thank you so much for this! I knew about a lot of this, but not about the body image book. I don’t think AG will do too much, especially after the uproar with Kira, but it would be cool to see a non binary or transgender doll (story wise anyways, clothes and hair are the only thing on the dolls themselves that can reveal gender). Also, gay marriage became legal in the U.S. in 2015 via our Supreme Court. Unfortunately though, there are a lot of anti-LGBT laws being passed in a lot of states such as banning talk of LGBT topics in schools and banning gender-affirming healthcare for trans kids. It’s really sad and frustrating. Anyways, great video! Hopefully AG includes more representation in the future.
Yeah. Canada is a lot more left leaning then USA, we legalized gay marriage in 2005 and our prime minister has even attended pride events. There are definitely still many people who oppose gay marriage but not as many as usa
So this is obviously just me speculating andcI might be way off but from what I found by reading Molly's books I speculated that she was either gay or bi because of how she was talking about her teacher. Now she may have just been nice or something but tbh the way she talked about her teacher like her eyes sparkled and how her braclets glistened in the sunlight it sounded to me like more of a girl crush. I just read Likas book and the way she talked about McKenna made me wonder if mabey she had feeling for her. But I'm probably way off. Just my thoughts from reading some books.

Ahhhh! Ever since I saw your community tab post yesterday I've been waiting for this! I love this video SO much. I think american girl needs more lgbtq+ representation and it's good to show kids that it's okay for a girl to like a girl or a boy to like a boy or to not even like anybody. I also think that american girl should come out with maybe a non binary doll. Happy pride! 🏳️🌈
this is a really important subject and i’m super glad you made this video. i’m surprised at the amount of representation in the smart girls guide books, but happily surprised that kids reading them will learn all these things that are perfectly normal and okay to be and feel!
I really hope we have more LGBTQ+ representation in the World By Us line since they are around 13 years old, which is around the time I realized I was LGBTQ+ so....
I love this video. As a supporter of the lgbtaq+ community this was great. I wish American Girl would have more LGBT plus characters in their stories and dolls but I can understand why they don't. This made me want to Kiraa doll even more because like Kira I also grew up with two Aunts who are a part of the lgbtaq community. If they made a dollar part of the community I would buy they a heartbeat.

I love this, but I think that American girl might not do much lgbtq because little kids buy these dolls and I don’t think parents with a 7 year old would want there kid to hear about all that when their kid is that young. And also, even just straight love stories are never visible in the dolls books. There are little kids buying these dolls, and no matter what everyone on agtube does, kids under 10 will still be their main buyers and they need to keep it appropriate.
Even if ag doesn’t want to depict a love story, there are always parents, friends and older siblings who could have a relationship. And I think it’s important to teach young kids to be accepting
@@AllycatlovesAG I totally agree. Maybe just not with the main doll herself, cause parents will get upset. Like, the dolls go up to 5th grade only. To little to be having relationships. Maybe crushes. But yes your 100% right. For side characters that are older, it’s great for kids to get a bit of a a hint.
I don’t assign sexualities to my AG characters because I only stay with the canon of confirmed pieces of their stories so I just consider it “unknown” - However my JLYs and customs I do, because they’re all 15-17 and I create their stories. My Poppy is lesbian, Isla is straight, Ivy is bisexual, and Ximena is straight
I think too much emphasis is put on the sexuality of these 10-year old girls. One of them had two mothers and that seems to have been quite timely. Otherwise I just think the community is far too obsessed with this. Sorry - I know my opinion is not that of the majority. I am just so bored with it.
lgbtq+ people want to express our joy at openly being ourselves, so we talk about our identities and experiences, we create communities, and we want to see ourselves represented in the world. Some of us spent decades in the closet, hiding who we are in fear. We're not hiding who we are. If straight people can just live their lives without anyone challenging their existence, or telling them they're too obsessed with being heterosexuals, we should be able to live our lives the same way.
@@SkyeID I think - specials be ot homo-, trans-, or hetero-, is just overblown in the world of young children which is the target market for American Girl. Among older collectors it is different but we shouldn't sexualize children one way or another for our own sake.

I've never been into shipping culture so it's not something I've participated in. The only ag ship I have is Tenney and Logan, but moreso if they grow up and remain friends...
Literally so many people are saying things like “I bought a doll for Christmas and I am returning it at once!” And I am just overflowing with love for that company. It is so fricking rare to see a company that puts values before sales and I cannot be more proud to have grown up with AG. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
People keep hoping for a GOTY in the community and as much a I would love to see that representation, AG would never do it because of backlash. I really hope they continue to use their brand to educate children about these things and that they don't cave in to the negative press
Molly was the only American Girl doll I had, and I'm a lesbian. You could imagine my initial excitement when Molly was re-released durring Pride Month. If only she was 100% confirmed to be LGBTQ+. That would have explained the journey to my true-self so much. XD
I'd love to see an ag smart girl's that explores gender identity exclusively (& in detail) past just "girls" and " boys" to help young queer people feel more accepted and included. 💕
I am actually a very conservitive person although I do support lgbt+ I think it is okay to add a little bit in american girl I also don't think two ten year olds would date beacuse they are both very young I think diversity is great like how they make dolls with disabillities I would in the future like to see more representation in american girl I would love it espeically if they made a bi doll I would love that I don't know why but I would defently buy a bisexual doll.
