@@werewolflover8636 I never missed an episode, and no, nobody was allowed to punch ANYONE. Good sportsmanship was always emphasized and expected, and whenever someone got violent, they were penalized accordingly.
Well turbo handle it differently as we saw Kyler was breaking the rules and getting away with it so turbo went about it the wrong way and should have told the referee violence is never the answer but happy it never got out of control.
There was another guy, Billy wirth. He was also in the Lost boys. He was owning the gladiators in every competition. Then they all ganged up on him so he wouldn't win. He even got into it with one of the gladiators.
Hell yeah, especially the big black guy. Forget his name since it was in the 80's. He was a big dude but they all were. The smaller guys use to run them stupid and they would get pissed
@@tinocontreras5105 Only big black guy on the Gladiators I know of is Gemini, but he was always cool and mild mannered, only one time he got into a fight with a contender and that was only because the guy threw something at him, in frustration for losing, so I don't blame Gemini, if someone throws something at me, I'd get upset also.
At least turbo had the guts to apologise and admit his faults Same goes for the contender so both was in the wrong but both apologised and made up and that’s good
Ahh back when you could have satirical comedy about women and a bunch of hypersensitive crybabies wouldn't get all butthurt and start some social media crusade because they completely miss the point by taking everything waaaaaay to seriously since they don't know how to lighten the fuck up. You know minus the stripper that sued because Stan the man ripped the idea off from her during a lapdance. lol not even joking, look it up.
Of all the gladiators, turbo was my least favorite only because of his rage. I remember when he shoved another contestant in the face after whistle and the other gladiators had to hold turbo back.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe what you're referring to is the Powerball game and Turbo had smacked the guy in the back of the head and shoved him and then charged towards him. But Yeah, Turbo always had been hot tempered and a loose cannon
Sabre was very bad tempered as well. He had a heavy barbel set up and liked to win both matches then lift the weight straight after in the changing room on camera to boast about beating two grown men then lifting this weight. Anyway, one day a contender beat him and spoiled his showpiece so he demanded a rematch but because the contestant would have to expend energy for no further reward he refused so Lynn (Sabre) shoved him. Shocking. He would have never worked again on the British version but of course in the American version they did nothing. I know we had Wolf doing "pantomime" but this was bad temper because he just saw the contenders as bridesmaids for him.
@@jimmyboyzable yeah. I used to dislike Nitro the most but after binge watching a shitload of AG this past week I was really able to see the difference in behavioral patterns between Nitro and Turbo. Both overreacted way more than any other gladiators in the heat of battle but Nitro was noticeably quicker to let shit go after the whistle whereas Turbo not only went into events with a chip on his shoulder but also carried grudges past the whistle a hell of a lot more times than Nitro ever did.
I was not sure what set Turbo off at first, but still I agree with Mike on the fact that punch was completely uncalled for. Then to hear the ruling at first for Kyler. He was faking his jumps for you could hear Larry screaming for Kyler to go. When you get back on the platform and at the start, you have to go immediately. That was why I know for sure he would lose all 12 points he earned. But then to hear he would get half of them back for that punch. At least the referee was fair on both sides.
Kyler did not break a rule . Turbo made it up because he was getting destroyed. The other gladiators hated Turbo and thought he was a cancer for the show.
I can't remember I think it was Kyler Storm who at one point did a flip over Turbo ... Dude had Turbos number and Turbo let his ego get the best of him
Allow me the pleasure of introducing to you: Blade....Laser....Blazer. I believe you've met my fitness consiglieri Meshell. Oh, and I almost forgot, our last player. Meet Fran Stellinaskavich de Bediviski. In her home country of Romanovia, Dodgeball is the national sport, and her nuclear power plant's team won the championship 5 years running, which makes her the deadliest woman on earth, with a dodgeball.
If I punched somebody on camera I would be arrested, booked, and have to see a judge. Why not Turbo? Smh. Also In a game even if someone breaks the rules it's still a game. Turbo was filled with Roids and was a disgrace to the gladiators. Even his excuse was pathetic. " We play by certain rules here" after PUNCHING SOMEONE IN THE FACE!
try not to concentrate on the punch or the faking, how bout the apology at the end, thats what counts, sportsmanship even after cheap shots and cheating, thats whats missing in todays sports
He knew that shit hurt! Turbo messed him up with that one! Would've loved to see what he looked like after the hours passed. His face probably swelled up like a basketball! LOL!
I remember a lot more than that. Billy Wirth, Wendy Brown, Bridget Ventori, Brian Hudson, Craig Williams, JC Love Jordan, Eldon Kid, Lucian Anderson, Richard Seymour, Lincoln Simon, Tim Goldrick, Mark Ortega, Zap and Tony Dorsett. Those are all the contender I remember.
So, he had 12 points that were removed for faking a jump. He received 6 points back for being aggressively punched in his face. Faking a jump is twice as bad as a face punch, got it. Great rules!!!
Turbo was completely at fault, you cant punch someone in the face, to make a point, what he should have done was the grown up thing and told the ref and he would have looked at the tape and it would have been alot better.
+Donny Mckinnon the problem was Larry thompson was no John Anderson, meaning that when infractions occur by contenders Larry rarely did anything such as issue penalties or whatnot. Turbo was at his wits end and unfortunately Kyler was the person who had last committed an infraction of the rules.
When I first saw this version of Turbo I was shocked that it was the same guy! Took me a while to realize it was him alright. While Turbo looked awesome with his long hear from his first appearance, I gotta agree with ya, he did look better pre-accident days.
That punch in UK Gladiators would have earned Turbo a Red Card 🟥 for throwing a punch and Turbo would have been sent off by Referee John Anderson for that.
While my memory is sketchy since it's been way more than a year since I saw AG reruns on a daily basis, I'm pretty sure he still smiled from time to time. Never did I see him smile the same way in the final season(s). A smirk was probably the best he could do.
Roid rage bullshit. Did you listen to what the man said? If Turbo was ever roided up it wasn't here. This was after an injury and he came back a lot smaller than he was. He said it was because Kyler was faking a move. It's called the heat of competition.
Turbo could have been in the nhl but as an African American I would play hockey just for fun and if I had the skill in the late 90s I could have played in the nhl as an African-American hockey player.
I can recall another incident, after the Powerball game (w/ Hawk & Sabre) where a contender accidentally bumped into Turbo and he responded by smacking him in the back of the head and shoving him, promoting the stage crew to intervene. Turbo always had been hot tempered and ready to brutally fight someone...
Hawk was never a jerk. He was usually the good guy in most of the situations. I remember in Season 6, he and Nitro had finished a game of Pyramid, and Nitro started talking trash about the Contenders and was trying to get Hawk to agree. Hawk didn't say anything bad. He actually told Nitro that he was the good guy. Now Viper, he was my little buddy, but he sure was a massive jerk.
While yes, Turbo would often lose his temper and fight, he usually had a reason (usually if he felt the contender was not playing fairly) and when he realized he was wrong, he would apologize. He would also congratulate contenders that just outright beat him. That says something about his personal character and is part of the reason he was known as "The Man".
There's one thing people of this show seem to forget about There's a video of Malibu he really tells it like it was 1st of all they were not protecting themselves properly all of them were taking performance enhancers which affected their moods Turbo especially This was one of the very few times that these guys Turbo especially got out of hand had it been like a regular sport he would have been fired instantaneous Nevertheless this kind of conduct is unacceptable he should have never done that
well my first comment was just a joke, but i would have to disagree with you, punch some one in the face on tv funded by a billion dollar corporation?, i think you could find a legal eagle to snack on that scenario. Unless they had signed some hold harmless release, but even then a punch to the face is a big deal.
I understand itis competition but a fake is no excuse for a punch in the face. Inexcusable and i am surpised the game was allowed to go on till the end
Did they really not brief the contestants on the rules? I feel like this isn’t the only time something like this happened, where a contestant unwittingly broke the rules and a gladiator got pissed.
I agree. Crap like that basically killed the show. As much as I like Turbo, you can't have a loose cannon on a show like this. In a way, it's kind of family oriented. Punching a contestant is the worst thing that could happen. The new version of NBC is not going to be able to get away with that crap. Not with the power of the internet and vocal fans. They've got to choose the new Gladiators carefully.
I'm honestly surprised that faking a jump to get the gladiator to go first was against the rules. I'm equally as surprised that a disqualification of a Gladiator for just straight up punching someone in the face is only worth six points! You'd think that getting DQ'd as a Gladiator would mean you cannot participate in any future events for that show, and the contestant that would be facing off against said Gladiator gets to run through those events unopposed (or opposed by one less Gladiator in events in which multiple Gladiators attempt to stop the contestant.)
@@MikeJones-jh5ih I did love it when Kyler Storm owned Turbo and somersaulted over him in Breakthrough, though! That was BAD ASS!! Even Turbo was bowing to him.. lol
Ok, I understand why you say Turbo was wrong, because I know he was too. But in sports, when you are a serious competitor like Turbo, and myself, when people constantly violate rules and stuff like that there is bound to be a situation. If you ever seen the entire episode, Kyler violated mayn rules, and even one in BT&C where Larry Thompson told him not to do what he did. Sometimes, you get so tired of people's crap, showboating and cheating, something's bound to happen.
