When my auntie was pregnant, their door and windows were covered in garlic and salt. My grandpa would always stay close, especially when they and the neighbors claimed to have seen a giant flying creature in the roof. Just imagine being told that as a child while your mother is pregnant- I was a paranoid kid at that time, kept hugging my mom and sometimes I couldn't sleep because I can't take my own imaginary image of a manananggal trying to kill her. Urban legends here goes hard and I'm grateful we didn't live in the province too

I remember when my aunt was pregnant it was the time where constant brownouts were a thing. It was the night time brownout maybe around 7 pm. My mom and I were in my aunt's room just to chat and stuff and I shit u not I heard noises outside. It sounded so unnatural, like a creature trying to climb the roof or is on the roof and I was so scared. It didn't help that our neighbour also had a pregnant woman in their house so I was doubly worried. Thankfully it stopped after a while but man I was so scared 😂

I remember my cousin they are around 3 years old that time we live in the province and my grandma always bring this two with her in the forest,..because she is looking for the dried trunk we used for cooking,..she thought the 2 kids went home bc she can't find them but, when she got home they are nowhere to be seen,..to make the story short they got lost in the forest we found them in another baranggay..so weird is they keep saying they just follow our grandma and she brought them in there,..the most intriguing is how did they reach the place safely while we climb so many mountains and the route is very dangerous because of the rocks..anyway i am just sharing 😅

In the past, some people were even killed because the villagers suspected them as one of these creatures. Most of these creatures are only seen by those whose third eyes are activated.

I stayed with my grandparents who live in the forest near the mountain the whole vacation because their farm was there...we slept with windows open cause it was hot, and you don't know how much scared I was to the point I just stared outside my window when laying down being aware whether there's something watching me at that moment, while my little brother just slept soundly beside me

Hehe, when I was in a small village with my entire family including my grandpa, a wakwak (also known as aswang) landed on the roof of the house causing the house to dent and to check what it was we all went outside while my grandpa had a gun just incase, while my mom has garlic and salt, my dad and mom started to throw garlics and salt at the creature and as expected it got uncomfortable and ran away while grandpa starts shooting.... That was the most terrifying moment of my life other than the curse(i was 5)

Visited my dad's hometown before and to get to their house, you have to walk by the beach and woods area, houses are super far from each other, we were going home one night around 11pm and we heard a baby crying somewhere in the woods. There are no houses on sight. We just ignored it and continue walking because dad said it's common in that area to hear baby cry but its not real baby, he said it's tiyanak 🤣🤣

I regretted it because once we went home, I got rashes and my cousin got nausea. That's the time me and my cousin realized that the tree was a Duwende's house. Just sharing.

I live in the Philippines Specifically Roxas City Capiz, and at my great grandmother’s time, they used to celebrate the “Aswang Festival”, it is a culturally significant celebration planned to change the negative meaning connected to the territory prominently called space of aswang by transforming the creature into Capiz' chief fascination. But later it was condemned by the church. It later created a stigma making people believe from various parts of the country that people from Roxas City, Capiz are witches, and flesh eating monsters. I grew up in fear but eventually when I realized it wasn’t true I was like bruh 🥴. But then again it’s still scary to think of it, especially when you’re about to sleep because you feel like there’s something outside your window waiting to break in and eat your guts.

I just want to share my experienced of "Santelmo and Encanto", it is true that this mythical creatures exist in rural area maybe because it is not civilized and they can live peacefully, when I was 10 years old I lived in the province I encountered "Santelmo" I was awake at night and went outside to Pee (there is no proper bathroom in the province) with my aunt, I see the dwarf coconut tree beside on my uncle house burning, there is a fire but the tree is not actually burning, I don't know what to do at that time, but actually I really saw it, I close my eyes 3 times and I even slap my face but still the coconut tree is still burning, I want to shout but I can't, coz why did my aunt didn't see what I see? that's why I choose to stay silent and hurry, because I think there is mythical creature there and if it hears me, it will curse me or kill me, and in the morning I visit the coconut tree to check, but there is not trace of burning in the tree, really, I share it to the whole family and they say that it was "Santelmo". And about the "Encanto", it happened at exactly the first 12 am in January 2011, We were counting my cousin for a new year and we were so excited to welcome the new year and of course the fireworks, and while waiting I saw some little balls floating ( jollens) its colors are different, the ball moves up and down, I immediately told it to my cousin and I was very happy when he saw it too, he said it would explode with an enchantment on the balete tree. I thought my eyes were going crazy again and what I could see again, at 12 am there was a thin glowing circle going up to the sky from the balete tree, I thought fireworks, but when it reached the top nothing happened, it just disappeared. There is a lot actually, like mangbabarang and manananggal but it is a long story, now that I am 21 years old I still believed it, the mythical creatures though I am now leaving in Manila and didn't experience it again, i know that it sort of true.

In the past when I was still a very young kid, I was about 6-8years old. I was near a 'very old and big Santol tree', here in our front yard. I was playing with fire near that tree, I was roasting leaves near the fire because I was fascinated by how it changes in color. After that I went inside of my room and suddenly felt chilly, then very very cold! I can't even remember how many layers of clothing, blankets or even pillows and stuffed animals were placed to me, and it didn't even relieve the coldness I felt, I remember I was on the verge of crying at how cold it was. Then my parents kind of called a 'mangagamot' and then I was relieve of the pain, and we were told that there were 'Black Duwendes'in our old tree. And advised us to offer sweets to the tree, so we did, and the candies we offered magically disappeared. So I think I was cursed because I accidentally disturbed them when I was very young...

Oh yeah the kapre i remember the story my grandpa told me that happened to his friend, his friend went out hunting and eventually shot a bird he went to collect his arrows when he didn't find them he went home, then suddenly as he got home someone told him he had a arrow on his back and eventually they tried to pull it out but it wouldn't one person said he might have had angered a kapre so he went back and started talking to the kapre saying please dont hurt me, then the kapre suddenly revealed itself and stood up, the kapre said 'You shot my pet bird so shot the arrow back to you' the kapre said and after a long discussion the kapre finally decided to take the arrow off, he then said "thank you" and left quickly, there's also that one time, A tricycle driver was taking passengers when there was this beautiful woman who had the fragrance of beautiful flowers after taking her to her home she gave the trycicle driver some money wich smelled like flowers he seperated them from the other money he got from passengers then he suddenly forgot and gave the money to another passenger, as he got home he suddenly realized the mistake he had done but it was too late, the next ay he went looking for passengers andeventually was drivinging in a certain area when someone shouted "Oh my God the child!!!" the driver was confused because he didn't see anything but when he got off his trycicle he was horrified to see it was really a child. Do you mind if i add another one this one is really good...my grandpa was eating lunch when he went to go for a quick bathroom break, but because there were no bathrooms he went to pee on something wich was a duwende's home the duwende was furious and when some of my grandpa's friends came to see why he was taking long a knife flew out of nowhere almost hitting my grandpa, they were all shocked and one of my grandpa's friends said thats a duwnede's house your peeing on-

A lot of this creature is more active back in the day, and not all aswang are bad some of them don't wanna eat Humans. And btw a lot of their kind attacks pregnant women because The flesh of a baby smells like a Ripe Jackfruit to them, babies are their favourite target also they hate it when people mock them they always take revenge at night and if you kill one of them their whole clan will retaliate even if it cost their lives and till today you might encounter them in some hidden place here in the Philippines. Btw I live in province that's why I know a lot of information about them.

That KAPRE thing is LEGIT. Personally, I saw one of it in our province when I was a young in the old mango tree with my brother and cousins because we used to take mango fruits at early morning falling into the ground. Then, I saw a giant man with a long curly hair smoking a long cigar and there is a white light surrounds on him seems like in concert one light focusing on the solo performer. WTF HE IS HANDSOME AND HAS A GOOD BODY🤣 What is more funny about it is, I scream KAPREEEEE all of us run like legit 100% don't care anymore about mangoes at all.🤣🤣🤣 It becomes more funnier because one of my cousin got stripped off from the long rope of a buffalo/carabao.🤣🤣🤣 Still I can totally remember the exact funny experienced of mine.

Dude I hope you read this. We had a experience with mananangal. Here in cavite, Philippines. This is a real story, I'm not inventing this story. One day there's a women named ruth, she ask if she can apply for nanny in our house, then we hire her. Week pass then she smells so bad, we don understand what kind of smell it is ( smells like rotten). Then one day my second brother pick a red scarf with a lots of castlliano words, and triangle with a eye in the middle. Then he ran fast to our mom and ask "mom whose scarf it is and it's like devilish words" our mom was shock because she knew that it was from Ruth and she knew that Ruth is the mananangal. Our mom has a third eye and she can communicate with other spirits and she can see others can't see. Then she confront Ruth about the scarf and she told ruth, are you the mananangal that fly here the village? She sad yes with no hesitation. Before that happen we observe Ruth when we bring him in a SM Mall and when she see a pregnant women she act weird. And she don't want to go out when the sun still up. She always say that she's allergies in sun, so she put some oil in her skin. Mom told her that you better stop working in our house and don't mess with my family or else you die. She never come back, but still in our village. Roaming around.

A lot of these creatures specially the women were actually spiritual healers and village advisers. That is before the Spanish Colonizers arrived and demonized them.

Why they like pregnants/babies a lot bc the elders said that the smell of babies are very pleasant to them. I hope I explained it properly, I'm not really good at English.
