Tells the history of America from 1900-1909. Focuses on how we as Americans and immigrants lived at the time. A classic short film on life in the United States at the turn of the century. / @16mmeducationalfilms
People don’t have any idea how hard people worked. We’re all so lucky to be here today. Most people were lucky to get an 8th grade education back then.
@@catherinemcclelland7664 office work can be hard too. My job is all physical and that's a good thing. Keeps me in shape. Paid to go to the gym basically. Good for the heart too. But the American dream has and always will require a lot of hard work and dedication in giving back to the economy. That simply has not changed. Unless one has wealthy parents. Really, not much as changed. I put in a lot of hours to make what I make. I'm still trying to figure my life out though. At least I managed to buy a home and have a 401(k).
I always thought it was crazy when I’d visit my great grandmother as a child and she talked about her life. The world changed so much over the 100 years she was alive. She passed in 2001.
Check out a video game called Red Dead Redemption 2. its set in 1899 to 1910.. Very unique period of time and depicted realilisticly in that particular game.
Thank you for posting these videos. I often think back wondering if it would be better to grow up when life was like that. To know that you had to work for everything you wanted/needed. I am talking about the average people not the filthy rich.
"For black people life was different, they were excluded from the economic mainstream." Yet, 3/4 of the wealth America had was labored on their backs. And until there is some kind of atonement curses and plagues will lead to the ultimate demise of that nation.
Other than that unfortunately the early 1900s were a good time for the economy. However in 40 years there would be 2 World Wars and in between that the Great Depression. Many were who would be born and raised in the early 20th century would become the warriors of WWII
There will be no atonement, for the ones who perpetuated the wrongs are dead and gone. So too are the primarily wronged. However, the aftereffects of these misdeeds still linger. The sins of the white ghosts still haunt. The socioeconomic disparity will wane with time. It has been and continues to do so.
My maternal great grandparents came to Philadelphia from Lithuania in or about 1905. My paternal great, great grandparents came from Ireland to America to New York, met and got married in the USA.
What's really interesting is we're only talking about how white people lived and I'd be really interested to know what was being done to natives at this time Like how they were having to live
This is an old movie, note they still pointed out racial inequality as well as distribution of wealth disparities. Some people will tell you such things are new and some left wing agenda. They are facts of history and the present. Thanks for posting these films.
What do you mean? It's common knowledge and has been with humanity across the Globe since recorded time... What isn't common knowledge is how much European practices influenced slavery and racial inequality. People view like it was only an American problem, when in fact, Europeans who moved to America also brought with them some unsavory practices. Spain was like the last country to abolish slavery and it was way after America had.
@@ToxicAvengerCleanYourMindit depends upon the region of America. Those in the north were opposed to slavery and were smaller farms. In the South, farms were often plantations given to English men who used slaves to become wealthy. However, 95% of people in the south did not own slaves.
