Is this statement coming from the side of the isle thst cheers on the burning of the U.S. flag and the spitting on soldiers? Most Liberals are profoundly naive. The rest are just disgusting.
@@thesanfranciscoseahorse473 I doubt you actually wanted a reply, but I'm feeling generous so here is one anyway. I do not support "spitting on soldiers". I don't support spitting on anyone. And I do not know anyone, of any political persuasion, who does. Not sure where you're getting that one. Do I "support" flag burning? Inasmuch as I support any other lawful expression of someone's first amendment rights. I wouldn't personally do it, but it has been classified as protected speech, and so I wouldn't support legal action against someone who did it, because ultimately that action against them would be declared a violation of their rights. Further, I don't think the two are comparable. My statement was specifically about the use of the confederate flag in the United States capitol by people calling themselves American patriots. The confederate flag is literally the flag of traitors to America. That's what they were, that's why they created a flag. Because they didn't want to be part of America anymore and needed a flag for their new "country". Flying the flag of a traitor while calling yourself a patriot is such a specific example of hypocrisy that it is mind boggling how anyone could've thought to do it. It is inherently contradictory. You can not fly the flag of enemies of the country you are claiming to support. It doesn't even make sense.
@@thornlings They certainly don't see themselves as traitors. I don't think they should have been waving that flag around either, but I'm sure if you asked them they wouldn't see it the way you've described. Most of the people I've met who use that flag see it as a symbol of independence. Naive? Ya probably. But they see themselves as resisting a government they think is going against the will of the people. These people genuinely believe the election went to Trump and that the Left is cheating them out of a victory by undermining our democracy. Exactly the same accusation the Left throws at them. They are sitting on two sides of the same street seeing each other as doing the exact same thing. I blame the media for not having these people sit down and explain their views clearly. Instead, its all name-calling and "traitor" accusations. These people might have been foolish, trespassers, vandalizers. But traitors? Worthy of execution? If thats true then we need to see the same logic applied to BLM rioters who burned down a federal court house and several police stations while burning American flags and chanting slurs against the nation.

I said this in the short so i’ll just repeat it here. I’m a high school student. Yesterday, instead of working in class, my teachers put on the news. Throughout the school day we watched people breaking windows, scaling walls, and threatening violence. My teachers’ explanation for this was simple enough: We are living through history, and we need to remember this for the rest of our lives. Last time people were asking how we were in school. We were watching through zoom while the teachers shared their screen
My teachers did this, but for 9/11. Except for one, who insisted that we still needed to take an AP English exam. Your teachers are entirely correct. You will remember this - you NEED to remember this- for the rest of your life. Also consider speaking to a counselor, because this is a lot to take in and the emotions that come with it can be so strong as to be debilitating. Consider it, please.
I definitely agree, this is history happening right now, and as it's the dark kind, we all need to remember it because I'm sure plenty of people will try to make people forget it happened.

I sat on the stairs that were dishonoured yesterday. I walked in the rooms that were soiled yesterday. Yesterday, I felt the same feelings I had back in 2001, 5 years after I stood in the World Trade Centre, in awe of its impressive architecture and feeling of power emanating from this simple building. Little did I know that this "simple building" would come to mean so much. And little did I know that my experience on the Capitol grounds and inside the Rotunda would come to mean so much, either. Well said. Before 2016 I was a moderate Republican (yes we do/did exist). Now, former Republicans like me watched in horror as their party attempted to tear down the government we cherish. Political beliefs on laws and regulations are one thing, as there must always be two sides to a debate. But what the President has peddled for the past 4 years goes far beyond that. I remember 4 years ago on his inauguration I tried to calm my democrat friends down, saying that he was radical but he can’t cause as much damage as they think he could. I didn’t support him, but to say he would irreparably harm the country was surely overreacting right? It took mere weeks for him to prove me wrong. He’s caused more damage than even they feared. Going to law school during all of this showed me just what kind of damage he’s causing, it’s serious. The new President has to make sure this never happens again, no matter which party attempts to overthrow the government. There's an article from Medium (Ithink) that has a alternate reality game designer break down the way that QANON acts and makes people stray from reality. It's pretty interesting. There are no answers to the questions they're asking.

Based on what I've seen, they did try to stop them. But they were insanely understaffed. They had what amounted to a skeleton crew to defend against thousands of motivated rioters. The real question, as brought up by the vid, why did it take so long to call in the troops?
THERE'S LITERALLY A BOOK CALLED "IT CAN'T HAPPEN HERE" ABOUT THIS EXACT SCENARIO....IT WAS WRITTEN IN 1935.... Edit: wow, this blew up. All I have to say is EVERYONE NEEDS TO PROMOTE TF OUT OF THIS BOOK RN.
Disappointment anger sadness disgust. Everyone who isn’t actively trying to destroy democracy should and generally are feeling some if not all of these emotions. Trump is a traitor, those nationalists have thrown their nations pride away, and we are expected to watch it burn.
This is not about politics. Fascism is not a political ideology it is a power movement. Fascists intentionally change their ideology to suit whatever powerplay they are working at the moment. This is not about progressives and conservatives, this is about fascism and democracy.

That's what happens when one entire party has the idea to take apart democracy and what America stands for in order to gain personal power. Republicans are turning their back on what American is.
Those disabled people in your video are my ADAPT friends from Philadelphia. As an observer from my living room on Wednesday, I could see that We have been treated very differently when we as ADAPT protest at the Capital. I was stunned and physically ill to realize that the Capital Police invited and condoned the rioters' behavior until they were inescapable victims of it.
Mom come pick me up I'm scared. I've watched a handful of your videos but somehow I never saw this one. And honestly? I'm glad I first found it now. Having seen what you are like in your other videos makes this one incredibly impactful. It's like when the quiet person in an argument finally yells for everyone to clap their trap and speaks after having listened to everyone and considered their arguments to come up with the best solution and call out the bad decisions that come from negative emotions instead of logical reasoning. Or rather, doing the exact opposite of trump
I've been following Legal Eagle for a few months now, watching every video on the channel. Never before have I seen him so heartbroken, so angry. And we share the sentiment.
The entire time I watched this go on, I too couldn't help compare it to the BLM protests where 14,000 were arrested, but these terrorists can just walk into the capitol and do this shit. I don't have words strong enough to describe how disgusting this was and is
I fully expected this disproportionate response from law enforcement. They love conservatives, hate progressives. But it didn't make it any easier to watch.
You say that like the people at BLM were unlawfully arrested. Also yes, many of these rioters will get arrested eventually, just like how the people at BLM did
The people who stormed the capital aren't democratic people plain and simple, and I've got no love for them, but I think this has only a bit to do with racism and more to do with culture and the fact that we're just now starting to adopt new riot control strategies. I think that for two reasons. One is because CHAZ/CHOP was allowed to happen, rather then being forcibly disbanded (once they realized that just stopping it by force was a bad idea). Second is because the arrests in recent riots seem strategic, rather then by strictly by merit. That makes sense to me, imagine arresting thousands of people with similar politics, confining them to each others company for months or years, putting them in a high crime environment, and once they get out, making it harder for them to get jobs. I can imagine no easier way to turn a protest into an insurrection. I think quite a bit of terrorism is made possible by the fact that it's easy to coerce people with no prospects, jail makes that more likely. I think as a nation America, like many countries, has started to think that fear of the law is as good as belief in it, and dedication to it. They sell the positives because it's easy, but enfranchisement comes from willingness to accept the negatives as well. Some laws are fantastic, but you too may be arrested if you step out of line. If you insist on exceptions for yourself and your actions, you're also insisting that a system which doesn't favor you is invalid.
Yeah, I noticed that. Some of the Trump cult was arrested, and I think this protest was smaller than BLM protests so less people would be arrested; but the problem is that police would beat or mace (what ever was sprayed in faces) peaceful protesters to stop them from protesting, but the Trump cult was not being peaceful but like you said they were let to walk around.
"They forgot that words have consequences." Oh no, I don't believe that for a second, they knew what they were doing, and as much as they pretend they didn't on Twitter and TV, they wanted this. This was engineered from the beginning, and they've been building it for a while.
