2021 Ford F-150 Raptor vs 2010 Ford F-150 Raptor review by The Straight Pipes. The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is putting down 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque from a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and the 2010 Ford F-150 Raptor is putting down 411 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque from a 6.2L V8. At $111,434 CAD for the 2021 versus $30,000 CAD (including all repairs over 2 years with 378,000km) would you take the new one over the old one? Having owned both a Gen 1 and Gen 2, the performance difference with the Ecoboost is much larger when driving it than some reviews suggest. Gotta love the 6.2, classic V8 goodness, but the torque of the Gen 2/Gen 3 makes it a totally different driving experience.

Put a tvs supercharger on the 6.2 and it would be beast. The response and average power would shit on the v6. It would Def sound more like the look for sure. That powerband and sound fits this kind of truck better. Not to mention it's 80k cheaper. Even if you don't get this good a deal on the gen 1 it's still gonna BE ALOT less money spent even with upgrades.

I actually prefer the 2010 mainly because it's naturally aspirated and probably easier to work on. Gotta love the V8 especially with the aftermarket exhaust and the ecoboost has turbo lag. However, the newer raptor has a much better interior. Those seats look comfy.

Investing however long that 2010 raptor documentary was of my life I’d still pick the svt over the raptor r. Something about putting a heavy duty v8 into a light duty pickup is soo cool. One was built to win Baja one was built to maximize profit.

I own a 2010 Gen 1 Hennessey Raptor and absolutely love it! Do yourself a favor and get a tune on your Gen 1 Raptor, it makes a big difference on throttle response and acceleration. Just wish I could put in the new 10-speed in the OG baby! LOL

@@TheStraightPipes that's one way to do it! Mine is the VelociRaptor 475 naturally aspirated Hennessy, long tube headers different style air intake and the Hennessey tune (serial #28). Huge difference over Factory Raptor. 210,700+ miles on mine as of this post. That's my truck in my profile picture up in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

I like the old one it looks wider and you get that 6.2 ,supercharged that thing is probably a beast ,I don't like the locking tailgate I'm always running back to the seat to unlock it don't like the stop start bc it turns off when ur backing up a trailer on like a highway stop for a second to put in reverse and it shuts off you can turn it off but it's just not useful the old one need s a borla and it would be amazing

Wow, can’t believe the new one doesn’t accelerate much quicker than the old one. I mean Ford has an F150 that does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, why can’t the Raptor? Sound wise, the new v6 is leaps and bounds better than gen2. It’s not exceptional, but it is acceptable. It’s good. The gen 3 design is really nice inside and not bad outside. Ultimately, I’m glad I ordered a TRX, but would be almost equally as happy with a Raptor. I will miss the keypads though, they really are great!

1. v8 sounds exactly 100% better, but the stock v6 sounds SOOO good and destroys the gen 2 sound. 2. So glad I opted out of all graphics. Nasty. That Baja topographical map nonsense is just... no. 3. Hilarious Ford made it harder to fake raptor the grille. That is a giant LOL from me. 4. Car seat installed in Gen 3 with enough room to set up a talking head angle for my channel. 5. Love ya!

Honestly, I wish Ford had continued to refine the 6.2L V8 for the F-150. It could easily be the top V8 offered in 1/2 tons now. As its stands a 2011 Ford 6.2L V8 is only 9hp/ and 26ft/lbs of torque shy of a 2022 GM 6.2L V8. Ford could easily have the 6.2L making over 450hp and that much more torque now.

Well technically they still have a version of the 6.2 just in the 3/4ton and up trucks and preferably I would love to see anyone of three options 1: the 5.2 from the gt500 2:the 7.3 Godzilla or 3:the 6.2l from the f250 in the raptor R I know I'm not alone on that one lol

I personally really like the current front end and overall design of the raptor. Feels like a nice blend of both 1st and 2nd gen raptors. I really like the new grill/fender LED's. They really stick out now and are a even more so a integral part of the design. Really looking forward to the upcoming v8

Bruce Williams (American) designed the SVT and doesn't get enough credit. He also has patents on the gen 2. Tom Liu (chinese) stated he wanted the gen 3 reminded him of iron man and video games, lmao!!!! Car companies have to stop designing outta China and making these massive grilles... The design inspiration for the 3rd gen came from the f-22 raptor. He may have said the ironman stuff outside in a small press event, but it was not the main goal. The 3rd gen doesn't suffer from BMW's grill issue. Trucks have always had massive grills. Even the SVT. if your going to complain, do it somewhere where its warranted and actually relevant.

The 2010 Raptor has to be one of the most gracefully aged trucks in decades. So often, we see the newer models of vehicles make their predecessor(s) look less desirable----20 years later, they become more appealing

@@Jimmyxsx he did mention "for him" the 1st Gen is the best, and as a 1st Gen Raptor SVT owner myself, I have to concure with his statement. I happen to prefer the Raptor SVT over the 2nd or 3rd Gens, but again, to each his or her own. It's all a matter of personal preference. As for performance, you are correct, the 3rd Gen Raptor R will most likely out perform both 1st and 2nd Gen, hands down. It's a more extensive build as far as the engine goes ( it will more than likely eat the TRX lunch a few times as well). But my V8 6.2 will perform admirably for what I need it for so I don't really need it to be anything more than what it is as a stock truck. And I just happen to like the original body style on the SVT vs. the updated styles. That's what I liked most about it back in 2010 and I've had no regrets. They really are awesome trucks❤️‍🔥

Imagine if that new raptor came with the 5.2 flat plane crank from the gt350 or at least with the 5.0. Sheshhhh ..they fucked up big time. I would never buy a big body truck sounding like a straight pipe v6 Camry from the 90s. Same with the tundra. They should be throwing those twin turbo v6s into the Tacomas and rangers.

I have a 2014 black, decal delete, full load 6.2 with 100,000km (60,000 miles) It has been an awesome truck and I have a Gen 3 on order but now you got me thinking!!!! Maybe I should keep my Gen 1 for a bit longer, or maybe even keep it forever???? It still gets so many looks, mostly due to the SVC front baja bumper that exposes the whole front end and tires with the big SVC aluminum baja skid plate. It does look bad ass……. Great video guys!!!!
