Sad … I live in Germany. Your decision of give aways only to USA address broke my heart. 😢 please consider EU countries. Shipping cost is not really so high for within US or to EU (you can ask the lucky winner to pay import taxes) BTW gifts are some times free of tax too … please add EU countries to your future give aways
Hi, there's no available AO Original Pilot here in the Philippines. Planning to buy blind it in the USA, but Im having problems which size to pick. Ray-Ban Caravan size 58 fits perfectly on me. Hope you can compare RayBan Caravan 59 to AO's Original Pilot 55 and 57 to see which of the 2 is very close. Many thanks.
Far and away some of the best shades you can get. The lens quality is top shelf. Worth the price. My current pair (gold frames, Calobar glass lenses, non-polarized) is 4 yrs old and still going strong. Glad to know AO is still making them and making them here.
Thank you for making all these videos. They have been invaluable to me when it comes to selecting glasses. These in particular are my most compliment getting pair.
Dont loose the 52mm, no matter what. Absolute dapper. They look like they were custom made for you.🖒 As much as I love RE, but I have to say. 52mm RE aviator lens have a strange tilt. They look disproportionate , almost like a design flaw. 52mm AO are neat.
Exactly. That's the main reason I prefer AO . Also, the curve on RE is more than AO which gives RE a weird bug eye look. That being said, the build quality of RE is unmatched. If they were truly identical (which they're not) I would go with RE. But for design , I lean toward AO.
The tilt is more pronounced on the 52 Randolph but even the 55 has a tilt and it's annoying. That's why I prefer AO. I always have. Both my original randolph's and my original AO pairs are 10 and 12 years old at this point, but when it came time to get a new pair, I went with AO. They simply look better and fit better on my face.
Thank you for the great video! I got a pair of the 52mm ones about 4 years ago. Since then the company has redesigned the sunglasses (and the price tag😅). The ones you’ve got in the video seem to be the new version (new logo on the glass). Are they the exact same shape than the actual „original“ version? The lenses appear a little more round on the newer model. Thank you in advance👍
I think the American optical 57 mm is the same as the Randolph 58 mm I think the lens is between those two are interchangeable and even though it says 57 I believe they’re a 58 mm or vice versa with Randolph
I’ve always liked these classic looking frames. I have been looking at some from RE then came across AO and found this video. Thanks for the info on these. - cspalls

I wish you held a ruler up to your face, lol. I seem to remember owning a pair of the 52's and they looked way too small on my fat head. But they look good on you. Now I'm conflicted and torn between getting a pair of the classics or the 55's.
@@ShadeReview alright thank you sir! I have the 55 and the 58 at home rn and I like the lens size of the 55 but it seems just a tiny bit narrow for my face. The 58 on the other hand is just a tad too big for my taste. I just can't decide. Tough choice..
I'd prefer a 55 with around a 16 bridge. I know they're classics, but to me, the 52's lenses look too small for their bridge. I'd like something with a similar overall width, but with wider lenses. I guess the Ray-Ban Caravan 55's, with their 15 bridge, would be a better choice for me.
Love these but was surprised to see the build quality is noticeably not as good as Randolphs. Didn't expect the difference to be so big. Also interesting is these in 55mm are way too big for me but the Randolph 55mms are great. I've got a pair of these coming in 52mm now
True, Randolph's build quality is unmatched. But I find their pilot design to have sharper curve and more swiveled lenses, something I'm not so keen on. Design wise, I prefer AO.
@@usmansabir1407 the slight bug eyed look on the Randolphs is definitely an acquired taste! For me the choice between the two ended up coming down to the sizing. AOs 52 was a tad too small and the 55 was too big. The RE 55 was perfect!
@@Spit87 I went for two glasses. Got a AO 52 mm as I prefer the design and more retro look. I wanted to go for Randolph but just couldn't look past the bug eye look 😁 Then I also bought a Randolph Concorde. Believe me, the new AO build quality has significantly improved in recent time but it is still no where close to Randolph.
@@Spit87 Concorde is the best tear drop aviator. Hands down. Yes, Rayban might have a more trendy design, but the Concorde is more traditional and made with Randolph build quality. Highly recommend it .
Could do a review of low bridge fit sunglasses of American Optical and Randolph Engineering? You might need to bring an Asian friend to showcase. Thanks
By the way, thanks a lot for making this video! There's no stores near me where I can just try them on, so seeing how they look on someone else is the next best thing.
@rovertoelisondo Great shades!!! Especially the 57 mm since I have a relatively large head lol, even my persol 649 and 714 don't look oversized one bit, and the 52 mm are unusable because of comfort ☹ Ps. My inatagram till this say is from a school project we did in school about Fidel Castro 😬 just from your information so you don't think it's the wrong one hahaha.
-yosoy_orellana Decided awhile back to switch from Ray-Ban's to Randolph and American Optical. I think they have a better quality in optics, and haven't looked back. Also I live in the State of Massachusetts, which I benefit from getting Randolf easily and fast.
-msquaremikymaraki Thanks for the opportunity.i am big fun of waering glasses am happy if I get this.am from Ethiopia which sun glass is much expensive. But if am the winner 🏆 there is a USA state you can deliver and the person can send me through DHL
