Funny thing that the word 'pizza' is one of the rare examples when Russian and American pronunciation are Exactly the same. But Marina for some reason decided to invent her own pronunciation 😄
Omg.. I'm shocked with so many mistakes she TEACHES on her videos. From now on I'll never watch her lessons again. Thanks Kevin and Lisa! You guys are amazing!!!
@@erickjoelordonezkaviztan1654 that's why she shouldn't be taking it upon herself to be teaching English pronunciation to the masses with this air of authority! That's only something one can one when one is confident that one's command of the language is indeed native-like
An alternative title for this video is Marina Mogilko Dismantled in 5 minutes :) Marina is too self-assured, I am glad someone stood up to teach her a lesson, literally :)
I found your channel thanks to other youtubers protecting Marina. They actually say not to visit your channel and not to contribute to more views. But I like your videos so much! I don't see any insults or mockery, I like the format, especially the dialogues in the end. I guess that we can both love and respect Marina for being a very successful business woman, and enjoy your videos!
I think Marina's english is good for a non-native-speaker. I can understand her english perfectly every word she says. But for people (including me) who want to learn english deeper and more detail...I'm gonna choose expert english native speaker teachers. I learned english at wallstreet 10 years ago...my teacher an american native speaker explained grammar wrong. So even an english native speaker can explain english grammatically wrong if she/he doesn't study the grammar. As to pronunciation...I trust native speakers 😊
I agree 😏 Native speakers and non-native speakers can pronounce words wrong 🧐 Kevin is great at explaining the American pronunciation and I agree with him for all of these words. This is how i teach my students 😉
If you wanna learn English with somebody you should choose who knows how to learn correctly and effectively! It even doesn't have to be a native speaker
It's not good. Because her mistakes are not limited to pronunciation but she also wrongly teaches grammar points and vocabulary. Why would anyone want to learn a language that way ? There are thousands and thousands of English learning channels on RU-vid, just find one that is legit.
I am also an english learner and believe me Marina is not the only one who teaches wrong english. There are many others and when I realised some serious mistakes I gave up following them.We need teachers like you. Thank you for your videos🙏 I love the way you teaching too😊
@@fredylopez2477 Marina pronounces everything like English people do. Honestly in the English language there are a wide variety of accents and difference's in how people pronounce words. Marina's English is close to perfect and much clearer than most native English speakers here in Britain.
Lol she invites everyone to watch her videos for learning correct and native English, but continues to make big mistakes. She can't even pronounce police correctly, seriously?
No way, now I feel upset at the fact that some people allow themselves to call themselves esl teachers and have the guts to mislead people and teach us garbage pronunciation. Thanks Kevin for being out there to lead us and inform us to speak the right English.
Marina constantly makes misleading videos. Nothing personal, but yes,her pronunciation is awful to listen to. I agree that this lady is only English learner, however, she acts like she is the most knowledgeable professor. Thank you for this video because after watching Marina I was getting confused
Thank you guys! You cannot imagine how much your video is appreciated. I am Russian as well as Marina, it is very important and helpful when a native American can point out and correct your mispronunciation. My struggle has always been a short and long vowel sound, even after few years living in the states I cannot always hear it and pronounce it correctly. I always thought Marina’s English was very good, but now that you corrected it, it is also easy for me to see my own mistakes, and it is also incredibly helpful to know how we sound for an American ear, ‘cause we do not always notice our own mistakes. Thank you again!!!
@@YoelMonsalve well, I might argue with that. Yes, Russian alphabet is different from the English one, but it doesn’t mean that Russians cannot speak English correctly just because of Marina mispronouncing words. It is true though that English is taught really poorly in Russian schools and the only way to actually master the language is to attend classes which are not included in the curriculum.
I has known this Marinalingua since long long time ago. I just felt ridiculous to learn correct English from an immigrant from Russia. I think many viewers subcribe the channel because she is visually beautiful.
You, guys, rock! This is true advance English lessons that I was craving for so long! Sadly Marina got so famous in Russian English learning community and beyond that I meet more and more people who can’t speak proper English. And I’m not claiming my English better than hers but I strive for the best with the best teacher. Keep pumping your good content. Peace!
I've always noticed the mistakes she made and it's hilarious how she considers herself the authority on learning American English the right way, the audacity to botch the pronunciation of many words thinking she's absolutely right..
As a non-native speaker, it's very important that you point out these mistakes. I used to watch her before but now I stopped. Thanks for your dedication. But please use the IPA next time.
You've got a new subscriber from Colombia who wants to speak like you guys! I do really enjoy this lesson! Greetings from Colombia! American accent is so beautiful! I just love it!
Please, please, please continue teaching us the correct pronunciation Kevin and Lisa it helps us a lot in the English world to be confident in speaking the language. We’ll follow you guys forever 😊❤️
About the "pizza" one though, she's actually teaching the correct Italian pronunciation 😂 in Italian, double consonants do matter and you have to pronounce them with that kind of stop she mentions. And we don't have the long "i": in IPA it's /'pittsa/ Besides of this, thanks for pointing out all the mistakes and making us aware.
Thanks so much for this. I happened to watch these clips from linguamarina and I was shocked. I'm from the Philippines and I often watch English videos as one of my source. Good thing I ignored it.
Thanks Kevin and Liza, I learned a lot,in fact I mispronounced some words that you show in this video, but I won't do that again because you taught me real American English.
Блин, Марина, ну рашен инглиш 🙉 Уверенности не занимать. It's a pity Marina is so confident in "teaching". She has a guy in her team, a friend Venya, who has excellent pronunciation. Why doesn't she learn herself to pronounce those 10 words from him before she records a video? Пф, и так сойдёт...
I always liked when people who are not native speakers say you they know 100% how to pronounce English words and can teach you. No thanks, if you learn English then learn it only with native speakers. My friend was practicing his speaking and prononciation with a teacher from Uzbekistan lmao.
I remember her and was shocked by her channel. I blocked her channel eventually, I was tired of having her in my YT shorts feed. She does many mistakes, in grammar and vocabulary too. Can't we report her for fake news or fraud or scam or something ? 😄
Bravo!!! There are so many fans of Marina...which is unbelievable) She might be good at teaching and explaining grammar stuff but not pronunciation, definitely!)

@@chtozaviduyesh9258 people like you like fun. Not everyone. I like education, I like learning, I spend my time on RU-vid to learn, not to have fun
Marina's videos have been contributing to improving my English so much in an interesting way! I'm so happy to have learned the correct pronunciations of some words I've said wrongly. Always a big thank you!!
@@mariashevyrova3730 well, fyi, just in case, you shouldn't say "study people English", you need to say "teach people English" (or teach English to people). It's such a strange mistake but I understand where it comes from for native Russian speakers, since I'm one myself
Thank you for your amazing videos! They're very useful for me as I am a teacher who is beginning to teacc English. But even for me some of these mistakes seem to be terrible...
That's ok. I will play a role of a guide for an English club, but at the beginning of every meeting, I will clarify that I'm not an expert, but I'm learning English and you should consider that I could make some mistakes
According to what I can get from this video, I think the following, learning a language is like making a copy. Therefore, if you want to get a high-quality copy, you must take it from the original version. So, if you make a copy from another one, you'll get a low-quality product.
Oh, guys, how hard it is- to pronounce right. I like american English so much , it's like music for my ears, but i just try to learn from youtube channels made by the americans. Not educational channels, i mean. Just try to repeat exactly the way i hear. But when i see these detailed explanations like "this letter sounds softer", "that letter sounds longer" it just explodes my brain:))).
Marina is a very fluent English speaker and speaks it very well. Russian language ( her native language) does not have some of the sounds English has and therefore some of the sounds when pronounced by Marina sound different than the same sounds pronounced by the native speaker. It does not take away from the fact that her English is pretty good and she is trying to help people learn the language.
There is nothing worse than learning something incorrectly in the first place. It's so hard to relearn then. If you don't have expertise in smth why pretend to be an expert and misinform people
@@oksana5393 I do not think she tries to mislead. We, Russian speakers, find it difficult to hear some of the sounds in English language. Long/ short sounds.
@@igorpolinamedovoy7731 I don't disagree that Russian speakers have difficulties hearing some sounds. I just doubt whether it's the right thing to claim that you are teaching how to speak like a native speaker when you're not a native speaker (smth that you're well aware of) and when you're using incorrect forms yourself. So you are explaining to me why she was misinforming people and I'm simply saying that it's the wrong thing to do.
Not all people fluent in English are able to teach it. This relates to native speakers as well. Marina does make a lot of pronunciation mistakes. It has nothing to do with the fact she is a foreigner, the problem is she is overly self-confident to teach people the wrong way of pronouncing the words.
as a non-native english speaker and as a native ukrainian and russian speaker (yea both) i'd say that it sucks that she makes those mistakes and teaches people the wrong way, but the whole point is that u have NO IDEA how many mistakes regular teachers in school make. just like someone has already said below in the comments: her mistakes are nothing compared to what we face in school.
Good point about some public school english teachers. But in Linguamarina's case it's not okay that she promises to teach to talk like native speaker "WITHOUT MISTAKES". She is not qualified for SUCH promises.
She's pronouncing everything correctly, slight accent due to multilingual skills but most of this video is an American saying British English is wrong.
She is an English learner, so it’s understandable if she makes mistakes and she learned a lot! The problem is there're not many real english teachers on RU-vid that's why we have to learn Tony Robbins version of English with Marina.
She’s not a learner lol. She teaches English online. There are so many smart English teachers online. Such as Kevin & Liza. Accurate English, Teacher Paul, Etc. Break a leg
Wonderful video. I think one of the most crucial things that any learner should do is checking everything what they get from other people. If you don't want to be mistaken about your pronunciation, in this case you go to pronunciation or dictionary websites where you can see either a correct version of American or British pronunciation. This rule relates to everything.
Oh, finally! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! I am an English teacher myself and some of her stuff made me cringe! There is so much fun about learning English, like doing a Southern drawl for example. She has recently taught people to say IRON as "I earned", literally "I earned". She is a sham!
As a learner I felt confused at the beginning, it looked like there was a conflict against Linguamarina, but then I realized that due USA has lots of immigrants from everywhere, each of them have a different and own way to pronounce the words. There's maybe a correct way for sure, on the other hand, are the ones who learned from others who maybe mispronounce some words. Finally, I learned as much from Linguamarina as English for Everyone and many other sources
