Ironic. Christian Bale's performance in American Psycho was brilliant, the man who played Batman years later, but also could play a Joker character if we see Bale's portrayal of the insane, crazy character Patrick Bateman.

Oh, and in American Psycho, the then future Batman actor "kills" Jared Leto, a then future Joker who's performance is one of the most criticized portrayals of the Joker. And now we have one of the best Joker's out there, thanks Joaquin Phoenix.

Yes, but maybe the journey Bateman took to be where he is took his soul and left him emotionless and detached from humanity. The intensity and drive and competitive narrow focus can turn someone emotionless and turn every person besides the goal to be an obstacle to be destroyed.

Hey that's a pretty neat idea actually. A reverse tale, perhaps in which Bruce never had an Alfred to raise him, and so succumbed to the internalized rage of having come into contact with deep evil at such a young age.

It is the most terrifying mindset for a villain to have.
